Really great pet. The staff are friendly and helpful, the vets are very kind and patient. The fee is also pretty reasonable. They have both of my babies approval. Highly recommended.

Came here for a second opinion and was very happy with my choice.

Dr. James is absolutely great with my usually male reactive dog. Dr. James is very knowledgable and explains everything thoroughly!

A great feature of this clinic is the large exam room. It’s provides great space for reactive dogs not to feel too tight or cornered.

All the staff I have met are lovely and helpful!

Absolutely incredible experience at St Luke’s Vet – extremely appreciative of vet Helen + team for their extensive knowledge and care of my cat. We had a big health scare earlier this year that required very bespoke and niche veterinary knowledge that Helen was able to provide alongside a positive and caring attitude. So grateful and appreciative for the care we received (and continue to receive!) ❤️

I wad recommended to come here by some family members, but I regret doing so. When I got there, the wait time was super long for some reason. I arrived to my appt on time, yet they didn’t see me for ages. Fine… it happens. But when I met the vet, he was very cold.. Like I was worried about my cat vomitting and being lethargic.. but he was like straight faced and monotone. I’ve never met such a cold vet… I ended up moving to another vet and he was wonderful, he even called me the next day to follow up and see how my baby was.

Also the receptionist was quite cold. I don’t know.. perhaps I came on a bad day or they are only kind to their regulars.. but I came all the way from West Auckland bc someone told me St Lukes Vet was the best and my first experience was very uninviting and cold. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re a first timer… they only care about their regulars and they will be very cold to you since they don’t know you.

The best vets ever! Unfortunately we’ve had a fair few visits in the last few weeks after our dog was attacked by another dog – everyone here has been so lovely and caring and takes such good care of our greyhound.
James is super lovely and knowledgeable and nothing is ever a trouble (i.e. my hundreds of questions).
They’re often busy and I can see why, because they’re so good at what they do

I only have the highest praise for St Lukes Vet Centre. We’ve been coming here since they opened and have always had the best service. Lovely staff which is always welcome if you’re feeling anxious, good advice and caring vets who are always happy to answer your questions. I’d give 10 stars if I could.

For the time we went here for little Bella they have been the most lovely vet. So helpful. I have been to many rabbit vets in the past and by far they are the best. We had to put her down today and they made it the best way to say goodbye. They let us have some privacy as well to say a proper goodbye. You guys are outstanding. ❤️ Huge props. Thank you for helping her in the way that you could.

Coco absolutely loves going to daycare, even though she’s usually quite timid and cautious. The staff are always welcoming and take great care of her throughout the day. I love being able to see photos of her having fun with other dogs, and the online booking is super convenient. We’ve also tried bathing services after daycare a few times, and it’s been great. Thank you for always looking after Coco so well!

We have used them for the first time after a lot of research for our dog. From word go the staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and loving for small ones. Highly impressed after keeping my dog with them and finding him so comfortable and happy after his first day with the day care. Special thanks to Brooke, Ariana, Shavaun for their wonderful service and caring nature for my dog. I strongly recommend them to all and will use them more often from now.

Cheers

Our timid wee rescue Teddy just had his assessment and started last week. We know this is the best place for him and its wonderful they have a room for separation for newbies to get used to things. Would highly recommend PIC Mt Wellington, and look forward to Teddy enjoying his new family too! Plus opening at 6.30am is such a great game changer and removes the stress of getting to work on time after dropping him off! Thanks a million to the PICMW team!

PITCMTW has been by far the easiest dog kennel/boarding facility I have dealt with - easy to set up your profile and choose your packages and book your dog in. The initial assessment of our pup Edward was so easy - and all his day stays and boarding has been a breeze. They take such great care of every pet - they know all their regulars so well! All the staff are AMAZING <3. Easy, quick, amazing, reliable and super friendly. Eddie LOVES them all as do we. Barkley Manor has been an absolute lifesaver for both of my dogs! My Cane Corso started attending their puppy program when she was just 8-12 weeks old, and she’s gone through every stage of their classes since then. The staff are so loving, attentive, and truly dedicated to the dogs in their care. My Cane Corso is completely besotted with them, and I trust them wholeheartedly.

More recently, my English Pointer has joined, and he’s been settling in beautifully. The team has been incredibly supportive, especially with helping him establish boundaries (he’s quite the counter surfer!). They’ve been so patient and knowledgeable, and it’s made a world of difference.

I couldn’t recommend Barkley Manor more—it’s by far one of my favorite places for my dogs. The love and care they provide are unmatched!

Barkley did such a great job with our doggy. He is a rescue dog who is quite anxious around others, so we were quite nervous dropping him off. However, the grooming team listened to our concerns and talked to us through the process. We were extremely transparent and let them know about him being incredibly protective of the both of us, so he will bite if you get too close when he is with us. However, without us he’s completely harmless. They were extremely encouraging throughout our conversations which left us feeling a lot better and made sure to ask different questions about the grooming so we could both be on the same page, and Shacky could be comfortable. After his groom, we were incredibly pleased to hear that he was fine around other dogs and even gave them loads of kisses. Although they needed two people to cut nails ( sorry grooming team!) They remained positive and truthful about the groom, which we appreciated. He also came out super calm and relaxed! With other groomers, he always came out shaking, sparking concern.
Thankyou once again Barkley!

Pickle has attended daycare at Barkley for over a year now after graduating from the puppy school. We were taught the skills we needed to best support our pup from the start and had the support to discuss specifics we needed help with. We adored hearing about her friends and seeing photos from her day on the facebook page. Pickle LOVES daycare and her aunties and even when we started working from home we kept a regular booking as a treat day for her. She loves the show too and seeing her friend Bartok helping yet another rescue. Thanks Barkley!

I have taken dogs through puppy training and the advanced course on mastering life.
Barkley Manor have excellent trainers that work well together to manage the training sessions. They demonstrate techniques and explain what is going on to give you an understanding of how to effectively train and manage your dog.
I was also impressed with their ability to problem solve, suggesting ideas and helpful tips for particular issues that anyone in the class was having difficulty with.

After struggling to find the right cattery for my senior cats, Gin-Zing and Tin-Tin, I discovered QPS—and it was amazing!

Richard and his team handled their different personalities and eating habits perfectly. Separating them resolved Tin-Tin’s vomiting, and daily updates with photos reassured me throughout. Frank was wonderful with TT, while GZ confidently explored like he owned the place!

When I brought them home, they were happy, relaxed, and stress-free—such a difference from past catteries. The thoughtful touch of a printed photo was lovely. QPS is now my go-to cattery—thank you, Richard and team, for your exceptional care! Wishing you every success in this endeavour.

I am so grateful to the QPS Boarding team for the exceptional care they have provided for my beloved dog, Molly Anne. Due to relocation requirements, Molly needed to stay in New Zealand for a few months before she could join us in Australia. As a dog mom, it's always tough to be separated from her, especially since Molly can be emotionally demanding and needs a lot of love and attention.

The team at QPS has truly made this experience stress-free for both Molly and me. They have consistently gone above and beyond in providing care and comfort for her. I especially appreciate the weekly updates with adorable photos, which have helped me feel connected to her even from afar. Their prompt responses to my emails have also given me peace of mind, knowing that Molly is in such capable, caring hands.

I couldn't ask for a better boarding facility. Thank you, QPS team, for treating Molly like one of your own and for the outstanding service you provide!

Mandatory quarantine ain’t no fun, but our shiba inu Winston came out unscathed and in good spirits. Thanks to QPS for taking good care of him and for even sending us off to the airport. QPS went the extra mile to make sure that the import of our dog went smoothly from start to finish. We appreciate their smooth communication and flexibility. Highly recommended.

This was our second experience with QPS, as we had previously brought our two cats into NZ through them back in 2010. We were overjoyed when we learned that on our return this time, we'd be bringing our (different) two cats and our dog through them, as the first experience was so good.

We can't say enough good things about QPS and their team. They sent us regular updates, and our pets came through as happy and healthy as can be when separated for so long from their family.

We truly appreciate the kind, professional and personal care from them. Theirs isn't a service one uses often, but it is extremely important to find someone you can trust with your beloved pets.

Thank you!!

The dog loves it and the staff. I took her there as she is a Labrador crossed with a German Shepherd and she has some issues with jumping up and mouthing and recall, which as a big dog is unacceptable and I felt mixing with other dogs might help calm her and socialise her. The first day was a trial and they rang me and said she was fine but she zooms and it is not good for the other dogs, I thought they were going to ban her but i spoke with the staff for solutions and she goes one day a week, my choice, and she knows she cannot jump up at the staff there, but still does it to visitors at home and when she slips her collar. They also do training there which i hope to follow up now we are in the new year.

Probably a great place to take a smaller dog or a puppy. My well behaved German Shepherd went for one trial day, they phoned me after he had only been there 1.5 hours and informed me that he was running too much and could cause an accident as he won’t listen to the staff or acknowledge them. I was surprised that the staff could not bond with my dog or put effort into developing a relationship with him. They demonstrated an inability to control or develop rapport and an over reaction to natural dog behaviours. Perhaps the staff are just under qualified but I would not recommend if you have a dog that would need an adjustment period to a new environment.

The best cattery we’ve found. Ended up using Club Meow over any of the catteries closer to us as it’s the only one our cat is happy at when we come to collect her. Have left our cat here for 3 months at one point and she was so well looked after. Staff are very knowledgeable and get to know your cat and their needs. Couldn’t recommend more!

Great experience with Club Meow Boarding Cattery. Very caring and understanding of my anxiety leaving my fur babies. Daily pictures were uploaded to FB and they were happy when I picked them up. They are my go to now!
Thank you

I must say that I was rather anxious about the idea of entrusting my cats to anyone, especially when it comes to feeding. My cats are exclusively fed raw food and I had a particular process on how to feed them. Despite all the intricate steps involved from warming up their food to supervising them during meal time, Michele & Trish took this process on board seriously, asked brilliant questions, and had no problem with catering to my cats’ needs. I was kept informed of their status throughout my trip overseas with excellent precautions in place should they lose their appetite for over 2 days. My two cats were themselves by the time I returned to pick them up and they showed no signs of stress whatsoever. Michele completely understood how I felt and made sure I enjoyed my trip anxious-free. I now rest assured I have Club Meow and their staff to rely on when I need to be away again.

Set in a quiet rural location this is the ultimate destination for your furry friends. There are single and communal rooms which are bright warm and comfortable. Experienced friendly staff take a personal interest in their guests and a high standard of cleanliness is maintained on a daily basis. I highly recommend club meow for long or short stay bookings.

We’ve used Club Meow a few times now, and we highly rate this cattery. The 2 women are so kind and accomodating, and the facility is really nice and sitting on a quiet section. I especially love the weekly FaceBook posts of the guests so you can see how your cat is doing, and that they let you go in and settle your cat in. It’s a great comfort using Club Meow for our little cat, and we definitely recommend to other cat owners!

So bad experience for my cat. He stayed for 4 weeks at the cattery while we were overseas. He is Persian, we told the cattery that his breed requires daily fur brushing, apparently none of that happened, he came back with matted fur everywhere on his body, poor cat, I imagine with that much matts he must have been in pain all the time. Also, he came with loose tummy, he became better after couple of days, so the loose tummy must be related to the food they were giving him.
Not recommended cattery.

We recently picked up our son’s cat from Karakakat Cattery, and the experience was fantastic! The staff was incredibly warm and professional, ensuring that our cat was well cared for during his stay. The facility was clean, organized, and had a very welcoming environment for pets. It was clear that they genuinely care about the animals they look after. Our cat seemed happy and content, which speaks volumes about the quality of care provided. Highly recommend Karakat Cattery to anyone looking for a trustworthy place to leave their furry friends!

Just had our two girls here for a week and it was great all round. You can tell the staff really care about the animals. They were very responsive and thorough when we asked for (perhaps too many) updates over whatsapp, sending photos and videos with commentary on how much the cats were eating, toilet habits, receiving affection, and all other behaviours related to settling in. Highly recommend!

Karakakat is the best cattery we have tried in Auckland, and we can’t recommend it enough! We have not looked anywhere else since finding this place.

The rooms are spacious, so the cats are not stuck in small, cramped spaces. There is a common area where they can roam around during the day if you choose. It’s a really relaxed, comfortable environment where your cat can explore or just chill.

We want to give a huge shout out to the staff – they’re absolutely incredible. You can tell they truly love and care about the cats, and love what they do. They always keep us updated on our cat’s eating, toileting, and any little details we need to know, including photos! Knowing our boy doing well is so reassuring while we’re away. Our boy requires special feeding instructions, and the staff follow them perfectly – sometimes better than we do at home!

As a cat owner with a clingy cat, we always feel at ease sending him to Karakakat. He loves his stays at Karakakat, and we know he’s in safe hands, getting all the attention and love he needs.

Top notch cattery our two cats loved! I can tell how well they were cared for after we picked them up after a one month stay. The kind staff played with them and sent regular pictures and videos to reassure us our babies were well. Great premises – very clean and airy. I’ll always go back to Karakakat!

Great cattery. I have an old cat that is very shy and hides whenever he goes to cattery’s. He has stayed at Karakakat twice and is happy when he comes out. It’s clean and the individual rooms make a huge difference. The staff are friendly, professional and love cats. They sent pictures and updates whilst we were away and I will be using them again.

I put my 6 mo kitten Poppy in Karakakat for 3 weeks while I am overseas. Poppy is my first kitty and this is her first time staying in a cattery. I have no idea what room type to book her in and Ginger in Karakakat gave me a good advice. The awesome team took such a good care of Poppy. Send me photos and videos every week, letting me know how she’s settling in. I can tell she just feels like home when I went to pick her up, and seems not recognized me until we’re back home. She is happy and cuddly right away. It was a good experience for me and I believe Poppy felt the same too as she met some playmates there . Thanks again Karakakat team. ❤️

You can happily leave your fur babies at Central Bark without worrying about anything. Their service is exceptional and are always welcoming. They are under a new management now but the quality of service is unchanged, just new faces. There is no more half day service so cannot by any packages for half day daycare. My dog always get excited to go there. Sure is his second home.

They have cover parking with a door through to drop off your fur babies.
Reception is always very helpful, ring them for any other info

The Central Bark Team work tirelessly to ensure our fur babies are having the very best and most comfortable stay, whilst their humans have to work. I can’t recommend you all enough; Basil adores his games and walks and most of all seeing all his furry companions & angel Aunties. Thank you for making this his all time favourite place. The love and attention you shower our wee man in, especially at the beginning when he was a little unsure, was reassuring and helped us get through the anxiety of leaving him for the first time. Heartfelt appreciation Team

Took my Puppy here for her haircut last week and it was the best she’s had yet, we will definitely become regulars here. They asked me exactly how I wanted her to look, and they made sure that she had the best experience ever. Being a puppy she’s very social and active but she came out looking absolutely amazing and I couldn’t have wished for a better job. Amazing team and fabulous groomers in a wonderful space with plenty of parking for a quick dash in and out.

At last a dog day care / hotel actually IN THE CITY !!

Great location with parking.

Great premises, super clean and boutique like. It doesn’t feel like a dog factory like other day care centres.

Great service & feedback from the staff, they are so caring.

Our babies Raven & Phoenix are loving their weekly stay and so are we !

We definitely recommend Central Bark.

Update 7/3/2023 – amazing bad review performance, over 40,000 views! I cant imagine how many potential customers you have lost, thats a great bad review performance for not paying us back just 100$ and their unprofessional response, keep your 100$, I will keep receiving notifications from google about the great views this is getting!

The review:

BEWARE with leaving your dog in this ”farm”, if something happens to him they wont take responsability. I left mine there for a week and when I picked him up he was bleeding from the nose and he couldn’t varely walk, I had to take him straight to the VET where they recommended to do X-Ray, worse case scenario he could need surgery. The bill also could go as high as 6000$, after that we contact Bethells owner, he declined to pay the 100$ of the VET consultation and medication, we will take further auction in Court if our dog has a major injury. He also is quite aggressive but we believe is because has pain in his leg, at least is what the VET says, now we have to wait what the X-Rays say. No doubt leave our dog here was the worst decision I ever made.

Our dog has been a regular guest at Bethells Farmstay for about 6 years now. We trust them with him like they’re part of the family. He always has a great time, is so well cared for and is beyond excited from the minute we pull into the driveway. Doesn’t even look back when we let him off the leash, bolts straight through the office. Can’t recommend enough! There is no shortage of activities and they go above and beyond to make each stay fun for the guests. They obviously care a lot about what they do and the dogs. Easily the best in Auckland if not NZ.

Phasma loves to come to Bethells Farmstay OR “Doggie Disneyland” which our 9 year old son refers to it as because of all the fun we know she has. She’s stayed here quite a number of times over the last 18months since we first got her. This family business came highly recommended to us by a friend and they are always quick to respond, hugely accommodating, friendly and we dont have to worry about a thing as we know our little girl is well loved & cared for here. Highly recommend.

Absolutely and completely outstanding. An exceptional place to take your beloved fur child. They do want to check the dogs first for compatibility and social skills as this is not one of those places where the dogs are kept in individual wire cages god forbid. This ensures your dog is happy and safe and the reason they are so highly thought of. Pics are also regularly posted on line so (if there was and doubt) you can check on your previous ones.

    Safe and Secure Accommodation

Pet boarding facilities in Auckland provide safe and secure accommodation for pets while their owners are away. These facilities are designed to ensure that pets are protected from potential dangers, allowing owners to travel with peace of mind knowing their furry friends are in good hands.

    Daily Care and Supervision

One of the key services offered by pet boarding facilities is daily care and supervision. Trained staff members are responsible for monitoring the pets closely, ensuring they are comfortable, fed, and engaged throughout the day. This constant supervision helps to identify any health issues or behavioral problems early on.

    Exercise and Playtime

Pets require regular exercise to maintain their health and happiness. Boarding facilities in Auckland often include exercise and playtime as part of their service. This may involve outdoor play sessions, group activities, or individualized attention, allowing pets to socialize and burn off excess energy.

    Feeding and Dietary Management

Proper nutrition is crucial for a pet's well-being. Boarding services usually offer feeding and dietary management according to the specific needs of each pet. Owners can provide their pet's preferred food or rely on the facility to supply high-quality meals tailored to their dietary requirements.

    Health Monitoring and Veterinary Care

Pet boarding facilities prioritize the health of their residents by offering health monitoring and veterinary care. Staff are trained to observe any signs of illness or distress, and many facilities have partnerships with local veterinarians to ensure prompt attention if needed.

    Grooming Services

Many pet boarding facilities in Auckland provide additional grooming services. This includes baths, nail trimming, and fur grooming, which help pets maintain their hygiene and comfort during their stay. Grooming can also be a great way to pamper pets and keep them looking their best.

    Specialized Care for Different Pets

Not all pets have the same needs. Boarding facilities often cater to a variety of animals, offering specialized care for different pets. This can include tailored services for dogs, cats, and even smaller animals like rabbits or guinea pigs, ensuring that each pet receives the appropriate level of attention and care.

    Flexible Boarding Options

Understanding that pet owners have varying needs, many pet boarding services offer flexible boarding options. This can include short-term stays for weekend trips, as well as long-term boarding for extended vacations. Such flexibility allows pet owners to choose a solution that best fits their schedule and their pet's needs.

    Socialization Opportunities

Socialization is important for a pet's development and happiness. Boarding facilities often provide socialization opportunities where pets can interact with other animals. This helps to improve their behavioral skills and reduces anxiety, making them more comfortable in social settings.

Frequently asked questions about pet boarding in Auckland

    What is pet boarding?

Pet boarding refers to the service where pets are temporarily housed in a facility while their owners are away. This can include dogs, cats, and other small animals. Facilities typically provide food, shelter, and care to ensure pets are safe and comfortable during their stay.

What should I look for in a pet boarding facility?

When searching for a pet boarding facility, consider the following factors: cleanliness of the environment, staff qualifications, availability of play areas, and 24/7 supervision. Additionally, it’s wise to read reviews and ask for recommendations from other pet owners.

How do I prepare my pet for boarding?

Preparing your pet for boarding involves several steps. Ensure your pet is up to date on all vaccinations and has been treated for fleas and ticks. Bring familiar items, such as their favorite blanket or toy, to help them feel more at home. It’s also a good idea to provide a detailed care sheet with feeding instructions and any special needs.

What vaccinations are required for boarding?

Most pet boarding facilities require pets to be vaccinated against common diseases. For dogs, this typically includes distemper, parvovirus, kennel cough, and rabies. For cats, vaccinations for feline leukemia and feline viral rhinotracheitis are often necessary. Always check with the facility for their specific requirements.

How long can I board my pet?

The duration of pet boarding can vary widely, from a single night to several weeks or even months. Many facilities accommodate both short-term and long-term stays, depending on availability. It’s essential to discuss your needs with the boarding facility to ensure they can accommodate your pet for the desired length of time.

What should I pack for my pet's boarding stay?

When packing for your pet's boarding stay, include essentials such as food, medications, and any special toys or blankets that may comfort them. It’s also beneficial to bring a collar with ID tags and any specific feeding instructions. Some facilities may provide food and bedding, so check beforehand to avoid overpacking.

Can I visit the boarding facility before making a reservation?

Many pet boarding facilities encourage potential clients to visit the facility before making a reservation. This allows you to assess the environment, meet the staff, and observe how pets are cared for. A personal visit can give you valuable insight into whether the facility is the right fit for your pet.

What happens if my pet gets sick or has an emergency while boarding?

Reputable pet boarding facilities have protocols in place for handling medical emergencies. In such cases, they will typically contact you immediately, and they may have a pre-established relationship with a local veterinarian. It’s crucial to provide the facility with up-to-date medical information and contact details for your vet before boarding your pet.

Are there any additional services offered at boarding facilities?

Many pet boarding facilities offer additional services to enhance your pet’s experience. These can include grooming, training, and playtime sessions. Some facilities even provide live webcam access so that owners can check in on their pets during their stay. Be sure to inquire about any extra services available when making your reservation.

How can I ease my pet's anxiety during boarding?

To help ease your pet's anxiety during their boarding stay, consider bringing familiar items that carry their scent, such as a favorite blanket or toy. Additionally, you can try to maintain a consistent routine before boarding, including feeding times and exercise. Some pets may benefit from calming supplements, but it's best to consult with a veterinarian before administering any new products.
