General Marine Services

We recently had our water maker go pop and I couldn't establish the problem. I turned up at General Marine and was quickly escalated from front desk to Head of Service and I was given 3 things to try. I tried them and we established it was a burnt out motor. I then explained we had a time problem. What could they do? 40 minutes later, they were dismantling the motor in their workshop in front of me and 30 minutes after that they had a solution. They shipped in a new motor from France within 48 hours and I picked it up this morning. In 30 minutes of first contact I had met both owners and 3 others staff members. All were brilliant. The whole company was vibrating with energy. I cannot recommend them enough. Real 'can do' people. Thank you.

Invoices $13000.00 for service of ford 120 service and refurb of heat exchanger. $9000 labour charge. Ouch

Walked in this morning to get a some machining done (or so I thought). The guy takes my block of alloy - says 'one moment' and comes back with it fixed. No charge. Great guys and great service.

General Marine helped us out with accepting a pre booking for some work we needed done on a vessel we imported from USA. Boat arrived last minute just before Christmas and true to their word they helped us with the repairs needed to enjoy our new boat over summer. Very professional and I highly recommend. When one has a boat issue on Stewart Island, getting the right parts etc can be an issue. Owen at General Marine Services was a star. I had a new Jabsco salt water pump on the Island a couple of days after I rang General Marine Services. Owen had tracked down a pump ( In short supply at present) and had it couriered down to the Island. Nothing was too much of a bother...many thanks General Marine Services.

These guys were able to help me out with a part I needed for my engine. And it was done very fast. I didn't know much about the part needed but they still were able to get the part with the small amount of information I gave them. Thank you!

Great people to work with, very professional and offered excellent advice on various engineering issues. Work was of very high quality. I will continue to use GMS whenever I need their help.
