My partner and I booked Phil twice while in the process of buying our first home. The first time was for an older standalone relocated house as we prepared to go to auction. The second time was for a new build townhouse. Phil provided an incredibly thorough and conscientious reports, leaving no stone untouched. For the older standalone house we ordered the premium report. This report provided a realistic picture of the condition of the house and what work would be necessary to be budgeted for on top of the purchase price of the house, as well as a suggested timeframe of how urgently the matter should be attended to. I found Phil's report and follow up emails and phone calls really helpful to make an educated decision about whether to progress to auction, and ultimately we decided this was not the property for us based on likely costs that would incur. Without this report we would have relied on the vendors' information that the roof had recently been repaired and was in good condition (and we would have been in for a nasty surprise). Our experience with Phil was so good that we retained his services when needing a building report for a new build townhouse we had entered into a conditional agreement for. This time we ordered the standard report. I was impressed at the level of detail he was still able to convey although more concise than the premium report. Phil's report again provided us with confidence about the build of this townhouse, as well as providing us with clear evidence and asks for the developer to remedy work that had not been finished to a high standard. These were pieces of work that my partner and I had not noticed when viewing (including the front door not closing flush), so it was a great investment to have this report. His availability was prompt and his reports were written and returned to us promptly with plenty of photographs to help describe his findings. After seeing what other friends have received as a building report for a similar price point I think that Phil does an excellent and trustworthy job. First home buyer, muddling around everything as it’s not an easy process especially when you also busy with work. So many doubts and confusions about the quality of the house, found Phil, first phone call made me feel that this is the person I exactly wanted to have my future dwelling checked.
