DANCE FOR LIFE ACADEMY

Over the past eight years DFLA has become my home from home and very much my ‘happy place’ My teachers have the expertise and confidence to teach my Senior Swans classes that ensures we all are made welcome, are safe, and all the while having a great time dancing to the best of our individual abilities. I would recommend DFLA to any person who loves to dance as there will always be a place for you to experience the joy of dance.

I always enjoy my weekly class with other Senior Swans at the Dance for Life Academy in Onehunga. Our teacher is extremely patient and encouraging, and my fellow Swans are such a lovely, friendly bunch. Learning ballet in this environment is good for my body, mind and soul!

I am a returning student from 4 years ago when DFLA first started . I really enjoy the classes . The courses are well designed following ballet syllabus. Teachers in DFLA are very passionate about teaching ballet . The studio is very welcoming and feel like homecoming . I would recommend DFLA to all little ,junior ,adult , senior swans 🙂

DFLA is such a great Dance Studio! As an older dancer with experience as a young adult, I was keen to return to a dance studio that would support my needs as a mum, worker, and community member with expertise and finesse. I love the classes! They are challenging but accessible, creative but focused on excellent ballet principles. There is no judgment about what stage of dancing you are at, and there are no ballerina divas here! It's incredibly supportive and professional at the same time. Would highly recommend!

If you are considering doing Ballet as an adult, this is honestly the place to do it! They have so many different options for classes and I was so happy to find a studio that has the option of structured syllabus-style learning. The teachers are wonderful and make sure they know their students well so they can help progress them in a way that is unique to each individual. The community is very friendly and welcoming too. One of my favourite parts about dancing here is the annual show! We actually get to perform on a stage in a theatre with costumes and everything! It's optional of course, and we spend months preparing. Any one from any level is able to participate in it and it's an incredible journey to be apart of, and it's a time when the whole community is able to get together and support each other as it's no easy task, but one that is very rewarding in my opinion. All in all, I often find myself counting down the days until my next class. Cannot recommend DFLA enough!

My 5 year old daughter has been with DFLA for 2 years and LOVES coming! She has grown in confidence and made some super friends (so have I, in the waiting room!) A real community feel with a lot of care and aroha.

Returning to ballet after aiming to be a professional ballerina was a daunting feeling, but the teachers' reassurance, comfort and talent made these feelings disappear. My weekly ballet class at DFLA is one of my favourite times of the week. I feel free of work, life and children worries and have also made wonderful like-minded friends.
