Here’s the story: You are a couple living in California. You want to get married in New Zealand. You have no idea how, try to do some research, become overwhelmed and immediately revert to crying under your sheets. Planning a wedding anywhere is exceedingly difficult. Planning a wedding across the world feels near-impossible. BUT NOT FOR MEL PEACH!

Mel is one of the best human beings you will ever meet. And she is also an INCREDIBLE wedding planner/coordinator/wizard/extraordinaire. We initially reached out to Mel’s Event Refinery online, and it led to over a year of countless FaceTime and WhatsApp sessions. With the challenge of being located a world apart, we really had to put all of our faith and trust in Mel, and despite all of our indecisiveness and anxiety, Mel constantly went above and beyond to make us feel amazing, supported, and heard.

We had dreams in our heads that we weren’t sure would be possible to create in reality, especially within our budget. A custom tool shed-turned ice cream station to honor my wife’s late father. A Thai water blessing ceremony requiring unique materials. A clifftop location that was flooded and needed a new solution. There are too many things to list without this turning into a novel, but the common theme through every obstacle or crazy ask from us was that Mel was a superhero, always there for us, and truly made our dreams come true. Her strong communication and follow through helped ease any of our stresses and worries. Her thoughtfulness and creativity added magical touches that helped create the experience we wanted for our guests.

Some people have a special ability to make you feel calm, comfortable and joyful just by naturally being themselves. Mel is one of those special people. We are forever grateful to her for creating a wedding we will endlessly daydream about. Now we’re just trying to think of how to throw another event with Mel in NZ.

With all of our guests travelling from overseas, we organised glamping and a party the day after, so Mel essentially single-handedly organised and coordinated a two-day festival for 120 people! The entire weekend took a huge amount of work and coordination by Mel and it flowed seamlessly. She thought of details that never would have occurred to us and made the planning process fun and stress-free. We couldn’t have been happier and are so grateful that we found Mel!

Super delayed review but just want to rave about Cater Station! I used them for our Christmas lunch at work last year and it was a hit. The food was so delicious and the perfect temperature. Everyone kept asking about where I ordered the food from. Being a really busy season, we didn’t have one of our boxes delivered due to error but after I rang they remedied it straight away and were very apologetic. We’re using cater station again next week for pancakes in the office. Really looking forward to it!

I could not recommend the Cater Station enough. FIVE STARS PLUS!!! I heard about the Cater Station through an event I had attended that they had catered, and I absolutely loved the kai and the concept, so I took down their details to use for my next event. When it came time for me to use them, my booking experience was absolutely FANTASTIC! From the initial website enquiry (everything is very well laid out, boxes are easy to view and the descriptions are clear), to the easy to use booking system, to the pre and post order service. The team absolutely do it all and I cannot rave enough about them. They are so responsive, answered any queries I had in a timely and friendly manner. Nothing was too much for them. Delivery was on time and the kai was so fresh and delicious and presented so well. I ordered the same box (taco kit) twice in two weeks (for 2 different events) and I can confirm the service, the delivery, the presentation, the quality of the kai, all of it just hit both times!! I have happily recommended this to many of my colleagues and whānau, and will definitely be looking to order again, as frequently as I can! We had and exquisite menu consisting of meat, seafood, and incredible vegan options. Their staff was very professional, I loved their attire! They made our outdoor farm wedding feel so fancy and high class! Andrea was absolutely outstanding. Little Wolf works with Folio Hire and provided great options for table settings. From inquiry, to execution, and 100 emails in between, she was prompt to reply and accommodate my many requests. Incredible experience with the team at Weddings by Samantha who were fantastic the whole way through. We had done most of the planning ourselves, so only got the On the Day package. Despite this, we found they were immensely helpful with the final stages of planning. Samantha helped us finalise our runsheet for the day, and problem-solved with us any issues as they arose. We had Olivia with us for the day of the wedding. She coordinated with all of our vendors to ensure everything worked smoothly and did all the little odd jobs to make sure there was no stress on us at all. Olivia was calm and confident, while keeping busy doing everything from bringing us drinks, cutting the cake, timing all of our music and packing a canapes picnic for us. Having Olivia there gave us confidence that everything was under control the whole night, giving us the freedom to really relax and enjoy the day.

Samantha was an absolute gem, and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to help bring our wedding together.

In the lead-up to the day, she was a fantastic sounding board — offering advice, helping source quotes, and keeping us on track. Having both the ceremony and reception at home added a few extra moving parts, but Samantha was right there, helping us shape our vision and bring it to life.

On the day itself, she was incredible. Somehow, she was everywhere without ever being in the way. From laying out the catering to keeping on top of empties, refilling the fridge, and ensuring the nibbles stayed fresh — she handled it all. She quietly kept things running smoothly, pottering away in the kitchen and tidying up as she went, meaning there was little chaos to deal with at the end of the night.

If you’re looking for a trusted right-hand professional to take some of the mental load and give your family and friends the chance to relax and enjoy the day, I can’t recommend Samantha enough.

I would not do a wedding without Samantha!! It was my partners idea to bring her on board and I was unsure, after I first met her I knew it was the right decision and from there she constantly added value. Samantha reviewed what we had hired and reduced our costs, she understood our vision and she executed it. Samantha took over comms with our vendors a couple of weeks out, she was phenomenal on the day and after being unsure I would have happily paid more seeing the work and value she added. Not only did they help me choose a new car stereo, they installed it in the same day, on time.
