Apex Advice has really shown their true worth and expertise in this now real life example. At the age of 51yrs and only 6 wks after completing a 52k Ultra marathon I was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer that has spread to my liver and lungs. Surprise! But not really a surprise as both parents had cancer and Dad died from Bowel cancer just 2yrs ago but he was 87yrs.
Thank God we kept paying those premiums even though at times, like when I was off for maternity leave or in between jobs, we strongly considered cancelling them, but I had an inkling this day would come, just maybe not for another 10-15yrs!
Our one-stop-shop Broker Ivandee has helped us many times over the years, with structuring our mortgage to suit changes in our lives, to making sure we got the most bang for buck in our life and trauma covers to keep the premiums manageable. Her experience and expertise in knowing how to structure the cover has really shown up now that we have claimed. Not only do we have the luxury of private health cover, but we do not have to worry about paying the bills or being careful with money, for a long time. We even have the security of knowing the cover will still be there if the cancer comes back after all the chemo and surgery have completed and life insurance too.
She made sure we had the best claims handler and insurer looking after us. The claim was accepted within about 24hrs of them having the information they needed and payment made within just a few days of them having our acceptance and account details.
I have been telling all my friends that if you can afford even the minimum cover it is worth it. It might be more affordable than you think. But when it comes to the crunch, having this insurance is absolutely priceless!
