Yoga Academy

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that today is my 100th class at Yoga Academy since I joined in March. Since I moved to Auckland from Christchurch, this has been my favorite place to go after work. It has a great practice environment, professional teachers, and very nice member friends. The teachers here are very professional, and each teacher has his or her personal style, so you can always find a teacher you like. Barry's classes are my favorite, he is always full of energy, can see your potential that you don't even realize, and encourages you to challenge yourself. Akiko's restorative yoga is the best class for body repair, and I've fallen asleep in her class several times.Peter's classes give your body precise compliant practice; you can always feel safe and enjoyable in his classes. Shona is a graceful lady who always has a beautiful smile on her face, and her smile makes Ashtanga less difficult for me. If you're thinking about starting a yoga practice, don't miss here.

One of the best yoga studio in Auckland so far! I have tried soooo many yoga studio in Auckland since I moved here last year and this is by far the best. So pure, classic, and aligned with my energy. Absolutely worth the try if you’re still looking or want something more traditional and classic one without the other unnecessary stuff. Just pure yoga practice, breathing, and amazing people. The teachers are also the best ones. I found it sometimes frustrating when I met yoga teacher that is "fake" and no connection or whatsoever to the yoga practice itself. Not here. They’re all very kind, super friendly, and absolutely knowledgeable about yoga. Peter and Jude are the people you want to talk if you want to know or interested in finding out about yoga. Oh, don’t worry about the parking as the yoga studio is really close to Civic Car Park! Go on and check this place out 🙂 Namaste

The Yoga Academy is my go-to happy place. After learning different yoga styles with different teachers, I came across Ashtanga through the Yoga Academy 4 years ago, and was in love with it the first class. The teachers are deeply experienced and devoted, the community of practitioners is warm and caring. I’d recommend it to anyone who would like to develop and deepen their practice in a beautiful and safe space.

I love the Yoga Academy! It's not just the great sessions but also the beautiful and inspirational community and atmosphere that Jude and Peter put so much work into creating. Getting adjustments and tips throughout the classes is invaluable and the energy from the teachers is so positive. Highly recommended!

The Yoga Academy is a pretty unique place. Peter and Jude have spent their lifetime dedicated to the practise of yoga and the opportunity to learn and train with such knowledge is very special. The instructors at the Yoga Academy are all dedicated and caring. It genuinely is a small sanctuary in Auckland.

It's a calm sanctuary where you'll be given expert guidance, technical support and adjustments (if you choose) from exceptional teachers. The Yoga Academy is the real deal - steeped in the remarkable authenticity, deep knowledge and dedication to a yogic lifestyle of its Directors, Jude and Peter. I have attended over many years, and consider it one of the true gems of Auckland, just can't speak highly enough of the place... suitable for any level of experience too...

I have known the Academy for 20 years and the teaching, practice and wairua has always been a beacon of clarity, compassion and calm in my world. Jude and Peter work in close rapport to ensure everyone who comes to the Academy is sure to gain practice and perceptions that will enrich and nurture their growth and wholeness. Yoga has become so many things for so many people, and the beauty and power of the Academy is that everyone is welcomed and supported to journey into this ancient process in a way that will bring them to their centre. As we come from the pandemic into the world again, this is a place that can help us all build a bridge between our inner life and the communities around us.
