We have a 1928 3 bedroom bungalow (with sleepout) in Mt Albert that needed a complete renovation and in hindsight, we really didn’t appreciate what we were in for.
It was our first home renovation and we were new to the experience and needed a building company that would walk us the through the process and help us with ideas and suggestions as we went through it. Our renovation including bathrooms, kitchen, moving windows, installing french doors, skylights, sound-proofing – the whole 9 yards.

We engaged Best Nest Building in October 2019 to be our builders and also project manage the build. What we particularly liked was how practical they were with advice, patient with our queries and flexible with our requests – especially as the job evolved and turned into an 8-month renovation (with breaks for COVID and varying intensity).

As we removed old gib fixed to fruit boxes, found soft drink bottles as plumbing, fence posts as joists and all the other joys on a 90-year-old house “extended” three times, Luke and the team were great throughout and explained what needed to be done, how many hours it would take and a gauge on materials.

As others below have alluded too, we’re particularly happy with the quality of the end product. We wanted to renovate our house and maintain the classic features of the era, which meant Best Nest was required to build custom architraves, rework our original doors, demo yard materials and other skills which require builders with a wide range of skills which are harder to find these days. The end result is consistently commented on by other tradies which is always a good sign.

On the subject of tradies, Best Nest were also happy to be work with our preferred tradies where we had them (e.g. electrician, roofer and painter) while being happy to recommend others were we drew a blank. This flexibility isn’t always provided and was very important to us. Critically, all their recommended tradies were up to standard and Luke was happy to co-ordinate with my tradies as if they were his own.

As with any renovation, we had numerous follow-ups and Luke and his tradies have always followed up and remedied the various teething issues.

We would happily (and indeed have) recommend Best Nest Building to anyone looking for a building company if you expect high standards in the work, good communication during the job and people that you can trust to build your family home.

Best Nest is a super reliable company, would 100% recommend again. Jessie especially was very thorough, careful and meticulous in his work. Very good craftsmanship and a pleasure to have him work on our house.

Luke’s communication and flexibility too, with plan adjustments and ensuring electricians were chased up, was commendable and flawless. Highly recommend him to everyone!

We have engaged Your Builder for multiple projects around our home over the last four years. Everything from minor repairs after a storm, to a huge double story extension, and they are always amazing to work with. Hamid has the knowledge, ideas and energy to get the project rolling, and then his team is skilled, friendly, and professional and get the job done quickly and well.
The extension in 2024 was a major renovation on our Auckland 1950s home. Your Builder helped us right from concept through to compliance certificates, and it always felt like they were as concerned about getting the perfect outcome as we were! Our foreman James was onsite daily, and worked closely with us to build our dream home! It was lovely to be so involved with the build, but to have excellent advise for the hundreds of decisions that needed to be made. We lived onsite during the build, and the whole team was very considerate, and went the extra mile to keep the kids and the dog safe at all times. We always had a schedule, and the site was always left as tidy as possible.
And the end result- amazing! We have had so many compliments from friends on the quality of the work, how well it fits with the existing build, and all the lovely bespoke features. We wanted to build a family home that felt warm and had character even though it was new, and we are so happy with the outcome, it’s everything we could have wanted. I would absolutely recommend Your Builder, and would trust them with any future projects no matter how big or small.

Hamid and his team at Your Builder are a pleasure to work. Most builders I’ve come across don’t prioritize quality, and look to extract as much money as possible from clients – but these guys are a different breed. They genuinely care to provide the best possible results for their clients, without ripping people off. This is highly commendable, and rarely seen nowadays, unfortunately.

If you need any construction work done with clear communication, professionalism and zero hassle Your Builder has to be your No 1 option.

Best wishes to Hamid and his team,
Manish

After 4 years long awaiting , I still haven’t received my quote. Well doesn’t matter now.

Is this a fake review, really? So all others are fake reviews as well ? I have met your plumber Clinton and electrician on site.

Looks like you know how the money works around with reviews posting? How many you paid for 5 stars reviews? BTW Clinton was the sparky back then.

The Your Builder team are a really great bunch of guys to work with. As an electrician its important to be well organised to manage my business successfully. Hamid is big on his systems meaning scheduling is always clear and there is continual communication between builders and sub-trades with where the project is at making sure we are on-site getting the job done when we need to be. We’ve done some great builds together so far, for some great clients who have been really happy through the project knowing that budget and schedule is tracked carefully. Can always take pride in my work knowing we’re building to a beautiful finish.

We hired Hamid and his team to replace our deck and do a number of other smaller renovation jobs around our house.
At all times they were very professional including keeping us up to on building progress, variations to contract and costs versus budget.
The team on site did an excellent job. We particularly liked that they discussed any issues they faced with us and made sensible suggestions for alterations to the work to improve the result and/or save costs.
We would definitely hire them again.

Late September 2017, Hamid and his team finished a major extension (two storey) for my home. After selecting him based on his quote and his willingness to introduce me to previous clients, completed and in-progress jobs, I am very pleased I went with Hamid. People tell you to expect the unexpected with any construction project – the unexpected happened and it is mainly because of Hamid’s experience and the foreman he had on site that my extension was Abel to be delivered at all. Hamid and his team have the maturity and integrity to deal with anything that may crop up in a respectful, helpful way – explaining options available, the process of building and generally guiding you through the project. I would not hesitate to recommend Hamid and his team – you will not regret it.

Hamid and his team are very professional and trustworthy. They completed the job to the highest standards, on time and on budget.
Communication was excellent the staff members are very friendly and dedicated. I wouldn’t hesitate to contact them again for any future projects.

Dave Johnson (☆ 1/5)
Dave Johnson (☆ 1/5)
Our project #119320 by a Signature Homes franchise took over two years from the initial sales office visit to settlement.

We had sold our business and were renting 950km away, so we chose them due to their website statements of "Completion Date Guarantee" and "Signature Homes built its reputation on building beautiful, architecturally designed homes across New Zealand....'

The design process and land title took 61 working weeks, then slab re-design, roof re-design and subsequent engineer approval to the meet prescribed council town planning profiles took 13 more weeks. The council process provided on-going information on design corrections, while the builder was silent on our building permit they were facilitating. Council records then show that the build time was 5 weeks longer than the average of 15 other similar builds within 200 metres. We have not received an acceptable answer as to why the process played out as it did.

The property looked like a rubbish tip upon settlement, and there was none of their much - vaunted handover process. Just a brief provision of minor items and keys at the builder’s reception.

The photos speak volumes – four are of the day of settlement. As well as the overly full skip, note the pile of unwanted bricks, the surplus concrete from the same builder’s project across the road, the large gap in the rear fence, and the mains voltage power cable detail below the warning sign in the garage-side footpath photo. No explanations have yet been provided for these. The street view of the fencing shows its incongruous nature as built together with the redundant builder power supply plinth.

The simple 150m2 plan to be on flat land and based on a layout we provided to merely be flipped and slightly shortened took 12 weeks to be produced by the salesman, with the odd notation "Drawn by CTP" and was punctuated by 18 or so unsolicited unwanted changes. We did not know it at the time but his initial design exceeded the council building height profile for a Lot of <400m2, and the process appeared to be going toward "Your Home. My Way." Throughout the ensuing process there were almost 30 unsolicited changes or variables included; almost all of which we discovered as they occurred. Had we not done so there would likely have been disputes and associated cost escalations. Entering the builder’s sales office on that first day was the worst decision we have made in the last 50 years, while the project itself was the worst such process we are aware of. Ever. To put that summary in perspective, after more than 30 years in the electrical industry in NZ [variously as project managers or as contractors] we moved to The Gold Coast in early 2002, becoming licenced real estate agents, property managers, and project managers for almost 18 years before returning to NZ. Re: "Signature Team" response of 11 Sept. [below]. We removed the unexplained rubbish skip and other refuse on the front of the property, gap in the rear fence, and a number of wiring electrical shortcomings. Also the garage door that randomly re-opened after closure, and the scalding hot water. Later the builders did arrange for their other defects to be resolved. To date there has not been any apology nor retraction of an offensive and unjustified email sent to us jointly by a franchise director and his cohort. Nor has there been any explanation of the whole process – particularly with respect to the availability of a preferred Lot across the road, the unsolicited layout changes, and the design process errors that became obvious after the build contract was signed. As well as failing council height requirements those errors would surely have also precluded the framing pre - cut process from advancing, and at such a critical late stage after the land title was issued. In light of the amount of trouble the process caused, it surely attracts an explanation. To help achieve closure of this matter, "The Team at Signature" is welcome to contact us directly.[/su_testimonial][su_testimonial name="xiaoli duan (☆ 1/5)" photo="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a/ACg8ocKHit-SAqUvTrFz1cvRpsoIyLJVrQ8rROhfPnuuTvHzvEo2Xg=s120-c-rp-mo-br100"]In mid-November 2020, I signed a House & Land Package agreement with Signature Homes Radney & North Shore for a property in Long Bay. From the very beginning, the entire process has been disappointing. The contract was modified at will (with the explanation that they had sent the wrong information), building materials were changed without our consent, and structural changes were made without consulting us. There were unreasonable delays in construction progress, and the quality of both the internal and external work was far below the agreed standards. Communication throughout the project was uncooperative and frustrating. The reason I chose Signature Homes was because I trusted their brand and believed I was paying a premium for a reliable service. However, the outcome was a complete disappointment, and to this day, I'm still dealing with issues related to my home. This is why I’ve left such a negative review. Sustainable home builders in Auckland specialize in custom home design that incorporates eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems. These builders work with clients to create homes that reflect individual styles while promoting sustainability and minimizing environmental impact.

    Energy-Efficient Construction

One of the key services is energy-efficient construction. Builders focus on using insulation, energy-efficient windows, and appliances that reduce energy consumption, allowing homeowners to save on utility bills and decrease their carbon footprint.

    Green Building Materials

Sustainable home builders emphasize the use of green building materials. This includes recycled, reclaimed, or sustainably sourced materials that are not only environmentally friendly but also durable and aesthetically pleasing, ensuring a sustainable home that lasts.

    Site Assessment and Planning

Before construction begins, a thorough site assessment and planning process is essential. Sustainable builders evaluate the land to determine the best positioning of the home, taking into consideration sunlight, wind patterns, and natural drainage to enhance energy efficiency and comfort.

    Water Conservation Solutions

Incorporating water conservation solutions is another critical service. Builders implement rainwater harvesting systems, greywater recycling, and low-flow fixtures that help reduce water usage and promote responsible consumption, contributing to long-term sustainability.

    Renewable Energy Systems

Many sustainable home builders in Auckland are experienced in integrating renewable energy systems, such as solar panels or wind turbines. These systems allow homeowners to generate their own energy, further decreasing reliance on non-renewable resources and reducing overall energy costs.

    Building Certifications

Sustainable home builders often help clients achieve building certifications such as Green Star or Homestar ratings. These certifications validate the environmental performance of the home and assure buyers of the sustainability measures implemented throughout the building process.

    Post-Construction Support and Maintenance

After the completion of a home, sustainable builders may offer post-construction support and maintenance services. This includes guidance on how to maintain the energy-efficient systems and sustainable features of the home to ensure they continue to perform optimally over time.

    Community Engagement and Education

Sustainable home builders often engage with the community to promote education on sustainability and green building practices. They may conduct workshops or open houses to demonstrate eco-friendly building techniques and inspire others to adopt sustainable living practices.
