Marbecks Records

Today I bought a Smashing Pumpkins siamese dream CD. I went to real groovy and jb hi fi and they did not have the CD. This shop is absolutely brilliant and have been here for a long time. The guy that was working there was very friendly and nice. I will definitely being buying more from here in the future. I think the store was nice and tidy too.

One of Auckland's best music shops, tucked away down the picturesque Queens Arcade. From vinyl to CD, DVD to Bluray it has a wide variety of formats. The shop caters to all genres so you can buy Nirvana or Bach, Dolly or Katy; the shop is well stocked. With friendly staff who will happily order it if its not in. Another great place to peruse on your lunch break.

Another gem of a record store in Queens Arcade, downtown Auckland: new, used and amazing speciality sections (including film soundtracks/scores/. Cheap DVDs too.

Best new CD selection in town, good vinyl selection, really good for jazz, especially ECM, handful of good used DVDs/Blurays, and of course the biggest classical selection in the country (probably).

What can you say about Marbecks, an institution that has been operating in various forms, for my entire life (& longer!). And that's a long time! On a rare visit to Auckland, it was reassuring to find it still there. In the same place, it was a long time ago when I used to visit as a teen & then for the next 40 years before I departed Auckland. It's under new ownership (again) but still the same great place, chock full of CDs & and vinyl, many of which you will no longer find anywhere else. Great sale bin, too! The only downside is that I didn't have enough time to check out everything. When visiting Auckland, any true vinyl/CD fan needs a whole day to fully check out the 2 most Iconic Auckland record stores Marbecks & Real Groovy. Needless to say I did find something I couldn't find anywhere else (I knew they had it as I had checked online first) & no doubt could have found more had I the time (& money). Great, friendly, knowledgeable service as expected.

A world class music store for fans of rare releases, niche record labels and staff who are deeply knowledgeable on recordings. This is not the place with a bin of wholesale/discounted records. Hence many of the reviewers commenting on the price. But it is a collectors paradise. A highlight of Auckland for me.

Awesome place, super friendly, great selection. Nice vibe. My fav place to get records in Auckland.
