Bulk Food Savings on Dominion Rd is a great spot for affordable pantry essentials. They have a good variety of bulk goods, from grains and spices to dried fruits and snacks, all at reasonable prices. The store is well-stocked, and it’s easy to find what you need.
The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is that the layout can feel a bit cramped, especially when it gets busy. A little more organization would make the shopping experience even better. That said, the staff are friendly and helpful, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more great deals!

This is my go to place for beans and grains and for my home country foods. There are a few options of Brazilian food, as Guaraná, farofa, cheese break mix(Pão de queijo), chocolates and more. There are also Argentinian foods. Great variety of organic grains and cereals too. The address says Dominion road, but the access is by Walter Road, in the access to Wendy’s drive thru. Plenty of parking.

No queues. Friendly staff. Convenient parking right outside the front door.

Excellent selection of dry goods, various flours & spices here. The shopkeeper and checkout was also very helpful by asking if I found everything I needed when I went to the checkout counter. Only item I did not find was pandan & rose essence but there was Rose water available here. Definitely must visit again!
Christina Ooi (☆ 4/5)

The best place to find flour for Arepas and great Colombian coffee (Aguila Roja or Sello Rollo) and many more products as Farofa (Cassava flour) from Brasil.
Camilo Castañeda (☆ 5/5)

After my visit to Bulk Food Savings, I was absolutely impressed by their extensive selection of herbs and spices sourced from around the world. The array of options was truly remarkable, catering to every culinary need imaginable. Additionally, their assortment of jars of olives and antipasti added a delightful touch to the overall experience.
What truly stood out was their commitment to facilitating various culinary endeavors, from baking and yogurt making to soup concocting and food flavoring. The sheer diversity of products available for these purposes was astounding.
Moreover, the staff was exceptionally helpful, offering guidance and recommendations with genuine enthusiasm. Their knowledge and eagerness to assist made the shopping experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, I highly recommend Bulk Food Savings to anyone in search of quality ingredients and exceptional customer service. It’s a haven for food enthusiasts and professionals alike.

I love shopping here.. high quality produce and great service.. thanks to April who is always so helpful.
Pamela Hutchinson (☆ 5/5)

Always a delightful store to wander around in. They have a fine selection of wine, good quality meat, pre packaged meals and soups made by their chefs, wonderful fruit and vegetables. Products supermarkets don’t stock, but you will pay more here.
Catherine Gow (☆ 4/5)

Farro is definitely establish as high class supermarket. When you enter into the shop, the fruits and vegetables look absolute A grade. Well and neatly display. I went in to sample some ready made cooked foods. Fish smoke pie is my favourite. Love to shop there.
Gin (☆ 5/5)

I’ve been shopping at Farro for a number of years, and it’s always been a problem, but just seems to be getting worse – with sparrow birds everywhere, they are mostly in the fresh bread section, any fresh produce that isn’t directly in the fridge/cooled area always has a number of fruit flies, and today just normal flies also, I went to grab a handful of lemons, but they were covered in flies. It’s only a matter of time before there are rats.
The place just feels unhygienic now. You visit farro over the other major chains to get a better experience, and to select a higher quality of produce, but you would never see a single fly, bug or bird in one of the other supermarkets.
Emma White (☆ 1/5)

Great local with quality range. Great coffee, gourmet meal options and premium grocery options. Lots of parking close by.
Mike Keech (☆ 4/5)

Farro has the freshest and best quality veges, and at times it’s cheaper than the supermarket. They stock many specialist products like duck and steamed buns….. The wine selection is very good, and I prefer their rose selection to supermarkets. The store has a farmers market, community feel. They offer fresh rolls, salads and coffee. I only buy deli meats from here as the quality is better than supermarket brands. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Stacey Palmer (☆ 5/5)

Always beautifully set up, great deals and fresh produce. Staff are always more than happy to help, with smiles. Affordable quality, perfect.

Customer Reviews
I love this store. For it’s size, it is one of the best stocked stores within an easy distance for me to travel. I’m an avid cook and I welcome the chance to be able to choose and buy, in bulk if I wish from a wide selection of fresh spices, different types of flour, nuts and pulses – and much, much more. There is so much here in this small store that is not available in supermarkets. Prices are very reasonable. It’s Eco friendly too. U can fill up your own bottle w all sorts of products or exchange an empty, large economy -size of dish or clothes washing liquid, for example, for a full bottle to use to refill smaller, reusable containers at home. And fresh, delicious, Volare specialist breads delivered several days a week too!
Rosalind McCleanStewart (☆ 5/5)

Excellent experience shopping at this place. The variety of unconventional stuff that you can get from here is incredible. Keto, gluten-free to name a few. Pretty exotic items. Some regular items also available. Plenty of frozen breads.
I always find the energy bars that I like from here.
The staff knows their shop and are very friendly. They are very well organised.
The shop is super tidy. Parking is no problem.
Raman Singh (☆ 5/5)

This shop receives my top mark of four out of five stars, here’s why.
Arsh the Store manager. Is a credit to the bin- in store. I wish all shop attendants delivered his trustworthy nature, friendly persona, and great product knowledge.
I accidentally left my credit card in the store. No problems, the store manager kept it for me. He knew it was mine, so it was no problem for me to get my card, while he stored it safely in his shop.
Variety;
This shop has a huge variety of spices, healthy products and eco- friendly products and cleaning products.
Value for money;
Compared to other spice, eco- friendly product, health food stores – in my opinion this shop delivers good value for money.
Service; excellent service
Cleanliness; clean shop.
X-factor; Friendly and efficient store manager.

My favourite place in south Auckland for anything cooking, baking, and diets related. If you’re eating keto, paleo, gluten free, low carb, you name it, you’ll find what you need. Also a huge selection of Dutch foods. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and there is plenty of parking right in front of the store.
Mathilde Noordzij (☆ 5/5)

This is probably the best vegan and organic health food cafe in Auckland. They have fairly recently moved to this new bigger location. Great food here and well worth a visit if you want to eat healthy.

I have been trying to eat healthy lately, but craving for a dessert , Wise Cicada have a good selection of refined sugar free, low carb, healthy dessert, and all taste great~~ I feel so good right now~~ They also have a large selection of organic tea~~
Icy Guo (☆ 5/5)

Unfriendly staff and the coconut mocha is beneath average (had to scrape off the coco as it was way too bitter and still undrinkable). Overall an underwhelming and far too pricey experience. This is not our first visit but definitely our last. We came in on Christmas, 26 December: the woman (ginger curly hair) at the counter did not smile neither did she greet. After giving us the menu she left and we had to wait for her to finish whatever she did for us to order.
When she collected our plates she didn‘t look at us neither did she ask us if it was good or not. We definitely didn’t feel welcome and won‘t come back.
Cammy Cat (☆ 2/5)

Everything on the menu is gluten free and vegan, which is such a treat for those of us with dietary requirements. The matcha pancakes (pictured) were delicious and filling – I really wanted to buy some cakes from the cabinet to take home as they looked amazing, but after eating I felt too full to even look at cake! Food service was speedy and friendly. Will be back soon
Julia Friedewald (☆ 4/5)

This is the exceptional organic and whole food store based in inner city Auckland. There’s no other plant based organic store so centrally located.
The vegan food is freshly prepared. Best selection of grains, salts and flours. Dedicated and knowledgeable staff.
Sukin and Weleda products. Just the best.
They stock the amazing Kerikeri tea here which are, in my tea opinion, the most delicious blends assembled in New Zealand.
Free parking.

I like that you can take your own containers in and you are able to buy the quantities you want, rather than the predetermined quantities in the supermarkets. The 2 ladies that have served me the 2 years I have been using the store are lovely and helpful and greet you with a smile. A good range of spices, flours, cleaning products are available and more! I always have an extra look around when I am there and every time I visit I think to myself – I must try their fresh made peanut butter – next time!

Visited Onehunga store today, such a disappointment. Store is small and nothing worth buying. Visited the Hastings store in March and what a beautiful store. Packed full of everything you need for baking, spices for tasty meals, breakfast cereals, sweets, pet food. Can’t wait to visit the Hastings store on my next holiday.

Customer Reviews
Had a great experience in store this week when grabbing a coffee and some groceries. The staff were super friendly and helpful – special thanks to Emma! Will be back again soon
Heidi McCulloch (☆ 5/5)

This is my first time leaving a review — unfortunately, it’s not a positive one.
Today, I experienced stress simply trying to order a coffee. I usually come to this store later in the day when the café is already closed, so I was happy to finally be able to buy a coffee while it was still open.
After paying for my shopping, I went to the café and ordered a coffee. One of the staff members started preparing it. When I opened the lid, I noticed the coffee had chocolate sprinkles on top. I politely said that I hadn’t asked for any toppings.
At that point, the barista became visibly irritated and began arguing with me for about ten minutes, insisting that “this is how we usually make it,” and that it’s not possible to ask every customer how exactly they want their coffee.
⠀
Frankly, I found her tone to be disrespectful and unfriendly. Later, what seemed to be the manager joined the conversation. I tried to stay calm and polite, but the situation was already very uncomfortable. Instead of resolving the issue, I felt like they were blaming me for not saying I didn’t want sprinkles.
But if you usually add chocolate or cinnamon by default, why not ask the customer which one they prefer? Or at least post this policy clearly on a sign. Otherwise, you’re making assumptions and then blaming customers for not reading your mind.
What surprised me the most is how easily this situation could’ve been resolved — with a simple apology and an offer to replace the coffee or remove the topping. Mistakes happen — and most customers are reasonable when treated kindly.
Instead, the barista remained arrogant and defensive, insisting it was my fault for not specifying. The whole thing became unpleasant. I was in a good mood and just wanted to enjoy a coffee — but in the end, I had to walk away, feeling disappointed and unwelcome.
I will not be returning, and I hope this kind of attitude doesn’t become the norm.

Olga Ozdemir (☆ 5/5)

Very disappointing experience. On 31 January I ordered a fruit and vegebox. First delivery date they could offer was 2 Feb to Milldale On same day I received a tracking number and noriced it was packed and processed on 31 January – surely not ? fresh veges and fruit in a sealed box for 3 days ? In fact it arrived on 4 February – 2 days later than promised and 5 days after packing. Packed by Hannah who I phoned personally and who was fairly unconcerned. It was my first order and my last. I rejected the box. Wouldn’t you?
Ruth Schumann (☆ 1/5)

Dreadful service of overnight delivery to Wellington. Took Five Days. After my first order I didn’t complain as it was during the floods and I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt, however my second order took the same length of time and the produce was either bruised or wilted and broccoli yellow with age.

Super friendly staff! And the prices on produce at this store were lower than at the Woolworths across the road. I found most of what I needed and wanted here, and at checkout the clerk offered me a free bag of salad and a small potted basil plant, which I happily accepted!

This is my favourite shop in Auckland… They have an extensive range of organic and natural products, including fresh produce, all pantry products, and supplements and skin/ hair care etc. I love that this shop is also independently owned. Highly recommended!
Jessica Milne (☆ 5/5)

Loads of variety, they have more fruits than the supermarket and love the spray free and organic veges and fruits
The big shelves are intimidating as if I’m walking through a library… anyways I love me organic produce and high quality products ✨️ definitely expensive though

To the ones trying to optimize their health.
I’ve visited all the organic shops across New Zealand and I must say that IE Produce gets the gold for me, top standards all round.
If you live in Auckland, you are very lucky to have this gem close to home, amazing options, also highly educated staff, this shop has been of immense value for me and everyone I have referred it to.
Do yourself and your health a favor, go explore it for yourself, enjoy ☺️.
Wishing you, health and prosperity.

Anthea Mosley (☆ 5/5)

There’s a reason why this place can survive across from a supermarket. I believe that’s because their produce is consistently better quality. I always come here first to find what I need, and only if they don’t have it will I mosey over to cd across the street.

So nicely presented shop with amazing quality cheese for a very reasonable price. Beautiful fresh produce and you can score yourself a bargain.
1.1kg parmesan-style cheese for $27 and great quality.
Also lots of European goodies like Stroopies, Baci chocolate, German gingerbread, stollen and lots more.

This shop is very nicely placed with good parking especially out back, with the rear entrance handy makes for great convenience. The owners and staff are always very friendly and knowledgeable. This shop is far more than just a fruit and veggie store, it has a great range of products at good prices as well. So well worth a visit to see the full range of products so you will return regularly, huge range of cheeses and continental products, sweets, dried fruit and others.

I love this place. Fresh produce, fabulous cheese at great prices, interesting finds, and always clean and inviting.
The two young men who run the business are hard working, respectful and absolutely a joy. Couldn’t wish for a better local grocery.

Excellent little shop that does fruit and vegetables. Very good quality. Has a excellent range of imported cheeses and deli type foods. Good range of olive and pomace oils. They sell a lot of brands that you won’t find in your big supermarkets. Highly recommend you have a look in as they stock items out of the ordinary and very very good prices

Good variety of cheezes, with some nice treats from Holland amongst the baked goods. Customer service okay, but it pays to ask the check-out staff to treat your chosen goods carefully, otherwise I would’ve given 5 stars. Nice assortment of confectionary with a home-made feel. Health foods available, including seeds and spices. Plenty of fruit and veggies. Inspect the strawberries though. Overall a good shop with cheaper milk than the spermarket. Worth a look, but wear a mask!

Very good selection and reasonably priced shop! Been coming back for a few years. BUT!!! The owner needs to attend to the customer service here! And urgently! The last time we’ve been here (4 Nov around 4 PM) the young, short Indian (?) gentleman spent the ENTIRE TIME of our visit (some 20 min or so) on his phone – talking in Hindi (?) even as he served customers! When we asked for a bag he literally threw one on the counter, and when we asked, shouldn’t he put his phone down and actually pay a little attention to the customers, ignored us and retired to the back of the store. I don’t know what was so bloody important that he couldn’t stop talking on his phone for a few minutes, but this is a very bad look for the business. We were left feeling as if we were a nusance to him and we’re interrupting his phone conversation. I’m sort of 50/50 whether we’ll come back again.

I visit every other day for my rabbit’s veges. Best vegetable retailer and mini mart on the shore. Samantha is usually the first person I see most mornings at the best vege shop on the shore. Thanks Samantha.

We love the great range of healthy produce and helpful staff. Good prices and great fruit and vege quality! Visited today and I couldn’t find what I was looking for. The staff were able to find it straight away for me.

Have been a customer of Vegeland since day one as we live locally and for years have been very happy with the produce . Over the last 6 months or if we are in Milford we have been buying our vegetables and fruit at the independent green grocer there . That is because the quality often is better , prices comparable and in the case of tomatoes which we use a lot of better quality and often about 15% cheaper . Reality is we will still use Vegeland for 80% of our purchases but to get back to 5 stars from us would need above sorted. Great owners and staff . No question .

Great supermarket/ vege market on the Bays area. They have a very large variety of local and imported products and the fruit and vegetables are fresh and well priced.
The different oils, dry foodstuffs, teas and honeys in abundance gives you a huge variety to choose from.
They also have a massive variety of Organic Products to choose from.
They also have the normal daily variety of produce to choose from. The price ranges are very good, will definitely recommend for any future and current customers. Let’s support our local businesses during these tough times.

Countdown next door closed down temporarily after the floods and this place took advantage of it by increadinf their prices – through the roof! Previous review said tomatoes were cheaper – that is definitely not the case now. I have often found prices at countdown cheaper now. Their quality is only average and now that countdown has reopened, their quality is often cheaper and better. This place has not reduced their prices in competition, they now just ‘match’ countdown. not to mention they now also charge for using paywave which is not the case at countdown or other nearby vege shops. milk is more expensive especailly as they dont of the 2 bottle deals anymore. staples such as Brocolli, cauli, beans are often more! I shopped here for years BUT i will no longer as they are taking advantage of the local community

The fact that this store got a Good Service Award is absurd. When it was mentioned their produce is overpriced compared to the supermarket. The guy serving became loud and abusive. This not being an isolated case of bad manners / service on their part. In my opinion their produce is nowhere near as good Greens in Milford. Combined with the overpricing and appalling attitude. I cannot find any reason to shop there ever again.

Vegeland is quite simply the BEST place to go for vegetables – and all sorts of other things as well! The staff is obliging, charming and knowledgeable, and the produce is the freshest I know – all for a very reasonable price. Many thanks to the Vegeland team

Additionally, these stores often prioritize local and sustainable sourcing, supporting small farmers and ethical practices, whereas conventional stores may carry a wider range of mass-produced items.
