Selwyn Reserve is one of my favourite places in Auckland. It’s beautifully maintained, right across from the beach, and ideal for a picnic or a relaxed afternoon with family or friends. The open grassy areas are great for kids to run around, and there’s always a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. The views of Rangitoto Island from here are just stunning, especially around sunset. There are plenty of benches, and the palm trees give it a nice, tropical vibe. Being so close to the cafés and eateries at Mission Bay is also a huge bonus—grab an ice cream or coffee and enjoy the sea breeze. Perfect for a weekend stroll, a family day out, or just some solo time in nature. Highly recommend!

My friend and I visited Selwyn Reserve at night, and it was a fantastic experience. We were able to walk through the area and along the beach, enjoying the calm and peaceful vibe of the nighttime setting. There were also people fishing along the shore, which adds to its charm and makes it a great spot for fishing enthusiasts as well.
