Picnic tables, free BBQs, skate park, playground, public toilets & showers. Beautiful beach, great shops and eateries in the area. One of my favourite places on the North Shore!
Fiona Dunwoodie (☆ 5/5)

Tsu-Yuan Kao (☆ 5/5)

What a great little place, only came by this place purely by accident, so glad we got lost. After driving around the lovely little township we stopped in at Fools and Horses to a bite to eat, which was really nice while overlooking the bay. Browns Bay Beach is certainly worth the visit, just wish we had more time to spend there.
Lee Wieden (☆ 5/5)

Beautiful clean beach. There’s a children playground for kids to play also there’s a place for motorboat rides. We used toilets which were clean. Car parking was difficulty because of holiday time.

Beautiful place!!
There is no waves, but is a good place to swin and enjoy with family.

Awesome beach for a swim, paddleboard, Jet ski or launch your boat. Lots of people jumping off the pier at high tide. The beach is fairly shallow, so safe to swim. Parking at the car park or off street. Cafes and shops across the road to grab a bite. Very popular in weekends and Christmas/New Years holiday period in summmer

This beach is stunning. The views are amazing and the water is completely awesome. This is a great place for a family day out or a picnic. Plenty of parking and also lots of space to sit or camp under the trees. There are plenty of cafes across the road and also public toilets. If you drive past this beach and go further ahead you may also find some more picnic spots with splendid views. Can get extremely busy during summer holidays but it’s totally worth it.

Excellent beach for swimming, tanning, walking ! Gorgeous views on a nice way! Must take a walk once the tide is low. Interesting geological structures!
There is a parking lot but it is very small! Near buy a plaza with shops if you need a snack.
This is my fav beach in Auckland!

Mairangi Bay Beach is one of our favourite beaches on North Shore. It turns out to be a hidden gem!
It’s the first time we have visited there on 3/2/2024 and we happened to fall in love with it. The water there was so clean and crystal clear. That’s why there were quite a number of people swimming, fishing and taking a stroll with their dogs along the beach while it’s at low tide period.
We highly recommend you to visit there as you will definitely love this beautiful beach.
Addie Lane (☆ 5/5)

Great for morning or afternoon walk, fantastic walking track with amazing views all the way to Browns Bay, recommend highly to everyone.
Sonja Sudarski (☆ 5/5)

A great beach for a quick swim. Not the nicest beach in the shore that’s why 4 stars. Sand is not soft nor tidy. This got a nice coastal walkway. But I would pick long bay over this anytime. Ok for a quick visit if you are nearby. Not worth the visit if you are not a local.

If you go this place when the weather is good, then you’ll have an amazing day with chill and enjoy the beach 🙂

I think this quite a cool little beach, namely for the interesting, sidewalk-sized rock pathways on both sides that take you around the coast. Street as well as a smaller gravel parking area. Lifeguards on duty and the ice cream truck also comes by haha.

A small but a beautiful beach. You can enjoy both at low and high tide. At high tide enjoy playing in water and in low tide take a walk along the beach. There is sailing club as well. The beach also has public toilet and changing rooms for male and female

On 16/12/2023, my husband and I went to Howick Beach for a relaxing walk.

One of the best beaches in Auckland. Near shops, diners, restaurants and children’s playground: there is a lot of activities to choose from all in one place.
Sion Adoracion (☆ 4/5)

The playground next to the beach is amazing for kids, with so many creative and fun features for them to explore! The beach — it’s so peaceful and calming. The view is beautiful, making it a perfect spot for photos.
Kwee Yum Lee (이귀염) (☆ 5/5)

Fantastic beach, very photogenic, covered in seashells! There are many dogs off leash here, I have no concern about that, it was fun to see their happiness and not a single dog jumped or barked at me. The public toilet and changing/shower room were clean and functional, much appreciated. The playground is really cute and if I had kids, I would bring them here often. I’m very glad I chose to find lodging near Takapuna Beach.
If you’re looking for an economic kitchenette near the beach, I recommend Takapuna Motor Lodge, it’s an easy half-hour walk. Plenty of buses around the area, too – Waiake Beach and Long Bay Regional Park are worth the short trip north. Easy access to downtown Auckland which has loads of things to see and do. Great city! Very welcoming people, smiling and saying hello and good morning, very sweet!!
All in all, an excellent vacation spot!
Carma Simonsen (☆ 5/5)

In 1894, Duncan Campbell purchased the farm here and named the bay after himself. Today, it is a popular spot for recreation, with a small playground next to the parking lot and a dog-friendly beach.

With leveled flat beach area, with a separate grass park area with plenty of trees to shade you, you have plenty of options for setting up for fun in the sun.
The inlet beach is protected with cliff cove curving into the area to allow for calm tides to wash up to the sand. You can safely kayak, swim out to the floating pontoon, or paddle board. If you’re looking for something more ambitious, then bring your toys and sail out just after the swim line for more open waters.
You have Rangitoto towering out of the water directly in front of you serving as the backdrop to the Pacific.

Awesome off leash dog beach at low tide, you can walk around to the rocks too which our dog loved. There’s only a bin up the top of the hill, so there were a few poo bags left near the beach unfortunately – don’t forget to take the poos back with you!
Chloe Seabourn (☆ 5/5)

Awesome Beach so close to city – amazing for dogs off leash. Probably not much if any beach at high tide. Not suitable for anyone with low mobility as there are approx 100 steep steps.
Steph K (☆ 5/5)

Great spot to take the dog. Just need to be mindful of the tides.
Jamie Linehan (☆ 4/5)

Pleasant beach, alot stairs down to the foreshore so really for the more able bodied. Good mix of large sandy srea and rock areas consisting of tare of eroded mudstone and sandstone. At low tide rocks can be very slippery with thin film mud. Where footwear with very good grip. An offleash dog area so good for getting your K9 some exercise. Some rock oysters if your into those.

A (relatively) hidden slice of peaceful beach just north of Ponsonby. The beach itself was very muddy and laden with seaweed but that gave it a certain charm. My wife braved the sludge to dip her toes in the water!
The beach is walkable from north Ponsonby although it’s not the most elegant route – mostly residential streets.
