The Riverhead Ferry

The cruise was really lovely. Captain Holger was funny and informative along the way, and Chris was very attentive to everyone. We even saw a dolphin! My partner and I live in Auckland, and we took one of our parents who flew in from the states. We all enjoyed it immensely! I would definitely recommend, and we’d all go again.

Wonderful hosts who create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making you feel at ease throughout your trip. Their sense of humor adds a delightful touch, brightening the experience and creating a fun, relaxed vibe. Overall, a seamless and enjoyable journey! We enjoyed a beautiful night view of the city, with the skyline lit up, the Auckland Harbour Bridge in the distance, and a stunning full moon accompanying our trip back. Depending on your mood, there’s a small but charming selection of eateries in Hobsonville to choose from.

Sharing a day on the Riverhead ferry with visitors from overseas was FABULOUS. Clean and tidy, excellent commentary by Captain Holger. Beautiful weather and even dolphins. What a wonderful way to spend the day. I highly recommend a day out on the Riverhead Ferry combined with a delicious lunch at the Riverhead Pub. A+++

Wonderful trip up river to the Riverhead Tavern, very relaxed way to travel! The boat itself is charming, commentary from Holger was interesting and informative, & Chris was attentive to passengers at all times; great team! The trip back was equally as enjoyable. Highly recommended. Thank you!

I had the best birthday party on the Riverhead Ferry! Captain Holger and his crew were amazing! 30 of us fit comfortably on the boat and they were very accommodating. The sunset time slot was absolutely stunning! Thank you so much!

Amazing experience with wonderful attentive staff! Myself and 17 friends took the Riverhead ferry over to the Riverhead Inn for dinner to celebrate my friend’s 30th birthday on Saturday 21st March.. just before lockdown began. We had the best experience and felt very safe ..extra measures were taken including a reduced service and readily available alcohol gel in light of the circumstances. This did not dampen the experience however. The views on both the journey there and back were beautiful and the staff bent over backwards to assist us, including dimming the lights and putting on fairy lights for the night cruise back and also allowing us to play our own music through the speakers. We couldn’t have had a more perfect evening, thank you very much.

We booked the Riverhead Ferry to the historic Riverhead Tavern for our work Christmas party. Captain Holger was exceptionally accommodating with my questions leading up to our event; and in hosting our group of 30 staff. Zoe was super amazing-taking care of us right throughout the journey. The boat was an awesome way to get us all in the Christmas spirit-with lights and tinsel to boot. Thank you Holger & Zoe for making our Christmas party one to remember! We will be back!!
