We were really looking forward to this stay, everything was awesome up until check in. The reservation team was amazing at noting out arrival time & informed us that early check in is not guaranteed but will do the best & also informed us that we can use the facilities while we wait. However when we arrived around 11am hoping that we can check in as my husband was not feeling too good we were told the room is not ready & to just leave our bags so we did then went exploring. We then came back at 2.30pm & waited 10mins before we approached the staff to check on the room status. He then changed our room to room 736 handed us the keys & that was it, did not tell us how to get to the room or the hotel facilities..I had also received an email at the time of booking from “spinning the wheel” & i was meant to get a $10 food credit which we never got. We then went straight to the room & got settled in. After an hour the room was like a chiller still so we rang reception only to be told that the room did not have individual heating control & we would need to ring them everytime we wanted to adjust it which i feel was a lie. Shortly after a man came in with an oil heater which is really not acceptable for $200 a night. The heating panel in the room was also tired & falling apart. There were no robes , slippers & hair dryer was just thrown in the cupboard. Attention to detail was not shown at all. I decided to ring reception one more time which then they offered to change our room & we accepted. New room was a lot warmer & cleaner. We do really appreciate this gesture. Overall a little disappointed with this stay.

Nice hotel, albeit that the rooms are a bit dated.
Good size rooms, bathrooms have baths.
Beds are comfortable.
Staff are attentive and very helpful.

Room service is a bit basic, as are the in room supplies.
Room service has a $6 charges, which is okay for a meal, but not so good if you need a coffee (which comes in a takeaway cup).

Indoor pool area is totally uninspiring.

We got a great deal for a junior suite room here in February. It included car parking which was important to us, free breakfast and access to the club lounge for canapés and drinks in the evening. Room was a little dated but very comfortable and gave us plenty of room to spread out. Breakfast selection downstairs was great, including a whole gluten free area. Nice pool with outdoor sun deck. Good location only 10 minutes walk from the Sky Tower and the theatre. Would definitely stay here again.

Had a great time. The rooms were lovely and the amenities were clean well supplied and not crowded. They have a pool, a gym and sauna that only a few people were on lots of towels around. The room kept tidy and clean everyday. There’s a minor road work in the front but not an inconvenience still cam walk through and cars can pass. Overall a good experience.

I was really impressed with my stay at this hotel. I spent 3 nights here for business, and the location is excellent—all the main landmarks are within walking distance.

The room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The gym, which is essential for me, was well-maintained and equipped with great facilities.

Most of the staff were brilliant—kind and helpful. However, on my last night, I encountered a rude staff member when I enquired about my food after waiting for an hour. I was happy to wait; I just wanted to ensure that it hadn’t been forgotten. Unfortunately, their response felt uncalled for. While I understand that my question may not have been well-received, it was simply a respectful inquiry.

Though I may be a bit harsh mentioning this, the experience overall had been fantastic until that point. Thankfully, one of the many wonderful staff members offered me a free glass of wine afterward, which was a nice touch! I would definitely return

Here’s a city hotel that delivers in every aspect. From check-in to departure, this was the complete short-stay accommodation experience in every aspect that matters: check-in, room quality, eating and drinking facilities, comfort of public spaces, staff professionalism and warmth. Everyone who works at Grand Millennium Auckland seems to be not only well trained in the hospitality industry, but they take pride in – and actually enjoy -their roles. A happy team. Thank you for an enjoyable two-day stay.

Stayed in the hotel for 5 nights, enjoyable experience. Paid for the upgrade to include breakfast and Executive Lounge access and worth every dollar. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a great selection of hot and cold buffet. Only a 10 minute walk to the Harbour and water taxis etc. 5 mins to Sky Tower. A great place to stay in the city.

Adjacent to the sky tower this central Auckland hotel is positioned excellently when needing to stay in the CBD. Whilst undergoing renovations, they have done a great job in minimising the impact on guests. The rooms themselves are a bit dated and the sound proofing could be better (good on the guests a few rooms up enjoying their night but I didn’t want to hear them). |Breakfast was good, great coffees made and the food was generally good. Possibly the most bizarre breakfast item was the cooked pasta in the Bain-Marie, not pasta in sauce plain pasta, with no sauce available. Different strokes for different folks and I’m sure someone might of eaten it

Stayed here in April 2025 with a friend (in our mid 30’s) – stayed in a 2 queen bed room on the 17th floor. Hotel room was very clean, spacious, and nice. Beds were comfy. Bathroom was clean. Shower pressure was alright. TV’s with Chromecast which was cool. Tea and coffee in room. Had a station to refill water bottles on our floor. They let us check in quite early was very nice – staff were very helpful and friendly. Lots of construction going on around, but we never heard anything. Right in town which was perfect as we did not have a car at the time. It’s also attached to a mall with food court and stores which was a bonus on a rainy day. Would for sure stay here again.

I had a wonderful stay at the hotel recently! Great room with a view, lovely staff and the hotel has adapted well to the construction work outside currently. Would highly recommend the executive lounge as an addition if you can, the perfect spot to relax in the evening especially when the weather was so awful on some of the nights!

An excellent hotel in a great location. Despite the on-going roadworks in the area, there was easy and convenient access to both the Queen Street side and Sky Tower sides of the city. The hotel is lovely. The rooms were well-appointed, very nice and quiet and cool with super comfortable beds and pillows. The staff were all excellent – check in and out was very easy. Our room was ready early which was fantastic and much appreciated. We enjoyed the happy hour and the generous pours of wine, sitting beside the fish pond in the atrium area. We would definitely stay here again.

2nd time to Auckland. This time I chose this hotel which was at CBD near Skytower, Skydrive airport bus station, Britomart and Queen’s Street shopping area. The checkin and checkout process was smooth and quick. Though the hotel was under renovation on reception and restaurant floors, the hotel room was still kept as clean and spacious. Coffee machine and slippers were available. I stayed for 2 nights. However, I found housekeeping didn’t change my towels and clear up the rubbish bins on 2nd day. I liked one of the lifts which could view the Auckland city when going up/down the lifts. Restaurants, coffee shop and supermarkets are nearby within 5-10min walking distance. I will consider to stay at this hotel again next time.

The valet guy at the front was polite and presented himself immaculately. The staff and the front desk were knowledgeable and quick to get us checked in.
The room was very nice and tidy. A stunning harbour view. The curtains are thick and block out the light well in the morning. Most comfortable hotel bed and pillow. We were gifted a bottle of wine for our anniversary stay, a completely unexpected luxurious gesture that made our stay even more exciting. Weirdly the toilet roll holder is the opposite direction so the roll flies off every time you use it! And the cups don’t fit into the espresso machine spot, too big.

Our spa experience was bad… an adult-only spa area would’ve made a romantic stay much more pleasant. There were at least 8 kids in the lap pool (1 foot from the spa) every time we went to the spa, it was noisy and they jumped and splashed everywhere… kids and babies were in the spa pool too… NOT a peaceful/relaxing experience at all. The gym has great facilities including a step machine.

The casino for evening entertainment was wonderful, we could have a drink there, a late-night snack and safely return to our room.

First stay at this hotel, and mostly enjoyable. Clean and spacious rooms, although the carpet is starting to look a bit tired. Duvet on the bed was rather thin, although maybe that’s personal preference.|Good space to do some work. Bathroom was tidy and clean, however single-use shower gels etc get a big no from me. Honestly, it’s not worth the money. The Grand is marketed as one of the more upmarket hotels in the city, but it’s actually pretty average.
We booked a room for our wedding night. The room was fine, pretty standard for a hotel room – nothing special. Staff were not very welcoming. We got breakfast in the morning, and I don’t think anyone spoke to us or even acknowledged us.
We’re also still waiting on the refund for the money they held for the room – this was about a month ago now.
They also tried to charge us for both breakfasts (which were included with the room) then one breakfast (because apparently we only booked the room for one) – which I confirmed was not the case.
There are far better and more affordable hotels in the city that I will be using next time I’m in the city.

Overall I was disappointed by the hotel. I was assigned a room with a narrow window above eye level – very odd, if felt like I was in a basement – see photo. The hallway outside my room was under construction during the entirety of my stay. In hindsight, I should have requested a different room. My colleagues had rooms with full windows.||The room was clean and overall pretty quiet, which is why I gave my review 3 stars instead of 2 stars. The bed was also comfortable. However the room clearly needs to be updated. The shower fittings were loose and a few things seemed to be on the verge of breaking. Only instant coffee was provided but fortunately there was fresh milk in the refrigerator.||Breakfast food was below average, I avoided the scrambled eggs because they were very runny. Little fresh fruit, most of it was canned. Fortunately, eggs could be made to order and delivered to your table.||I had salmon for dinner one night and it was really dry and hard. It must have been frozen for a long time and then overcooked.||I could never connect my laptop to the hotel wifi, despite trouble shooting. No problem with other hotel wifi connections before and after this stay.

We stayed for one night at Rydges recently. We were given an upgrade on the room so ended up on a high floor with an excellent view over the city looking towards the harbour bridge. A good size room with a super comfy king size bed. The location suited us as we were there on business and was central to our needs, we took advantage of the valet parking rather than trying to find suitable parking ourselves which can sometimes be a hassle in a city location. Ample choice for breakfast – all in all Rydges offered good value and we would return should we need to go back to Auckland city.

Ottimo hotel in centro. Colazione continentale con ampia scelta. Abbiamo anche preso le kumara fries, le tortillas con guacamole e due bicchieri di vino per crearci un aperitivo, tutto molto buono. Peccato che il lunedì sera il ristorante sia chiuso.

Very comfortable and welcoming double room on the 8th floor. Kettle and fridge much appreciated. There are coin laundries on the 3rd, 6th, and 9th floor (1 washer, 1 dryer in each). Reception can provide coin change and washing powder. Buffet breakfast was good, although I would have appreciated a slightly more international selection for the price. If you’re looking for a full “English” cooked breakfast, though, you will be fine! I liked the chicken congee (rice porridge). Service is friendly. They also offer an evening dinner menu, fairly reasonably priced and good quality. I had a really comfortable 3-night stay. The hotel is only 5 minutes’ walk from the InterCity coach station, practical for onward travel. You can also catch the direct Skybus service for Auckland Airport at the same station. The Skybus takes around half an hour. Best to allow a little longer, though, as traffic can be heavy on the main roads. I will be staying again at the Auckland City Hotel for my last night in NZ in a couple of weeks’ time. Looking forward to it.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Park Hyatt. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome — helping with our luggage right at the entrance. Check-in was smooth and quick, which set a great tone.||||We grabbed lunch at The Pantry shortly after arriving. The service was attentive and friendly. I ordered the spicy beef salad — it was okay, but didn’t quite wow me. Drinks were great, though.||||When we got to the room, I’d completely forgotten about our luggage — but the staff had already taken care of it and delivered it to our room, which was a lovely surprise. The room itself was clean, the bathroom was excellent, and the harbor view was absolutely stunning. The bed was firm and super comfortable — I slept really well.||||Later that evening, we dropped by The Captain’s Bar. The staff were friendly and made it a really enjoyable experience. We didn’t use the pool or gym but had a look and they both looked very modern and well maintained.||||Breakfast the next morning was fantastic — definitely one of the highlights! Great variety and quality. Room service overall was good, though we called to request some extra coffee pods and didn’t hear back — not a big deal, but worth noting.||||One small downside: the front driveway area gets pretty cramped. When we were checking out, two corporate taxis were parked there for quite a while, which made loading our luggage a bit awkward and tight.||||All in all, it was a great stay. The staff were excellent, the room was top-notch, and the overall experience felt luxurious and smooth. Would definitely recommend — and I’d stay again!

It’s a beautiful hotel in prime place with beautiful views. The rooms are very spacious and neat and clean, washrooms were big and neat. The room we took has balcony to the street side which was beautiful. Love the stay. They have beautiful spa and pool with amazing views. The breakfast which was good but not many options as I went to other Hyatt places. But it was decent. The most interesting thing for us was they have some milkshakes kind of bottles which has clean ingredients which was the best. I’m really impressed with the location which is more likely walkable to so many places, and it’s near the port with yatch which was beautiful. Highly recommend this place

It’s in a good location for tourists. We went in March. We were slightly hot & there’s no cooling in the room other than an old fashioned fan. This hotel is not disabled friendly. They don’t have disabled parking, they only have limited parking space and it’s first come first served. They charge $20 a night for parking too which is ridiculous. I did ask reception if there was anything they could do for me, perhaps a discounted parking rate as I’m not able to walk far, but they would not budge. The toilets & shower are communal, none in the room. There’s no disabled toilet nor a disabled friendly shower. Our room had no TV and wasn’t very sound proof. All in all,if you’re not disabled, happy with a glorified backpacker kind of place, then it’s a great location and very clean.

Decent sized single room , location great…between K road & city centre…best of both worlds
Thought there was a kitchen but just a toaster & microwave downstairs…
Having tea making facilities in room is good. Shared bathroom is fine. Overall for the price it’s a Bargain
PS it is outdated But so what …clean sheets
P.S bring ear plugs if light sleeper , also eye mask..you know if you need one

What an old antique hotel, it’s absolutely basic but the only good thing is possibly the location, compared to hotels nearby. The tap water was rusty, and it came out with brown water. Stayed here for less than a night and am contemplating if I should shower in here because I did not feel clean. The receptionist said there was water works done , but book this hotel at your own risk.
The bed linen had some (i meant multiple) strands of hairs underneath the blankets. I booked a 3 bed bedroom and all 3 beds had hairs. I am thinking if the beds were even cleaned.
Noise isolation is bad, can hear people walking and kids running in the hallway.
No air conditioning, just 3 short standing fans.
Antique lift , 1 lift for the whole 2 storey hotel, that can only withstand 2 passengers each time.
This place needs a renovation, will not recommend unless you are looking for a budget hotel.

Really enjoyed our 2days stay here! The room is much bigger than expected! Very spacious for our 4luggages with ample space to walk around. No aircon but there’s fan and heaters provided. The weather is very cold when we went, so no aircon is no issue for us. Overall a pleasant stay! 🙂

We were deeply disappointed with our experience at this hotel. The hotel changed its name (from President to Edit) without any communication, making it confusing to find upon arrival. This lack of transparency was just the beginning.

At check-in, we were met with an unnecessarily rude and unprofessional duty manager. Because I booked our room under my preferred name rather than my legal name, he refused to acknowledge my valid booking ID and went as far as to suggest it could be fraudulent—an offensive and completely unfounded accusation. He wouldn’t even look at my booking confirmation until I insisted several times.

To make matters worse, the room we were given was not the one we booked. We had reserved a king bed, but were instead assigned a room with a queen bed and two single beds, without any prior notice or our consent. When asked to explain, the duty manager first blamed housekeeping for not having the original room ready (despite our arrival after 2 PM), then contradicted himself by saying there was a fault with the room allocation system. No apology—just a series of excuses and lies.

When I pressed further about why we weren’t consulted before the room change, the manager lost his temper, became aggressive, and threatened to cancel our stay, saying he would refund us and that he didn’t want us staying there at all. Inexcusable behavior from someone in a Duty Manager position.

Thankfully, another staff member stepped in, calmed the situation, and kindly offered us an upgrade. We appreciated her professionalism, but by then, the damage was done. Honestly, she should be the duty manager, not someone who clearly has no understanding of customer service or how hospitality works.

Even with the upgrade, the room itself was underwhelming. The bathroom and furniture were tired, the fridge was dirty, and there was rubbish under the bed. Cleanliness and upkeep were clearly not a priority.

Save yourself the trouble—there are plenty of hotels in the CBD with better service and basic respect for guests. This experience was stressful, frustrating, disappointing, and unacceptable.

We stayed 3 nights in early April in a Superior room. The room was clean, large, included a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, & its own sink. Great, almost window filling view of the Sky Tower. There’s a Woolworths grocery very nearby & on the same side of the street. Breakfast buffet was basic, but good & always included scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, & beans. Staff was always helpful. Only downside was our room was next to the elevator. The noise was faint but you could definitely hear it operating. Didn’t bother my wife, but I’m a light sleeper.

Staff were very helpful on front desk and cannot fault them at all. Do not stay in room 106 we walked in and it smelt like actual urine. Thankfully they moved us to 707 which was lovely. Bed was a double and like a rock, pillows were awful too. The one-bedroom apartment had been renovated which was nice.
All and all i think you get what you pay for breakfast was a great addition but i wouldn’t race to stay here again, Location is great, nice and close to everything. We did have a great view of the sky tower which was awesome.

budget hotel and a very uncomfortable sleep

Positive: 3 blocks from the Sky City airport bus stop. Large rooms on the top floor which are quiet and have city views. Air conditioning. Tea and coffee making, fridge and microwave. Woolworths next door. Generally good wifi. Negative: Rooms weren’t serviced so no replenishment of tea & coffee or other consumables. 10am checkout. Due to number of windows, room gets hot. Steep walk up hill to the Sky City airport bus stop. Furniture a bit sparse and dated.

LESS THEN AVERAGE! Shower running water was just dripping out, stayed for 2 nights but my hotel card stopped working after the first night which I was now stuck on the 5th floor laundry area, called the main desk constantly so began walking 5 srair flights to the main desk, spoke to the receptionist telling her my card stopped working which I had to walk down the staircase, constantly calling the front desk to which her reply was
“Sorry I was speaking with a guest”. That is absolutely terrible service!
Never going back again!

Stayed one night to attend a show at the Civic. Could not fault it. Took a while to check in but our room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Our tariff included breakfast. This was a simple buffet but again all we required. Chef Parmila even shared her mushroom recipe with me! Would stay again.

The Copthorne Hotel Auckland City offers a commendable experience with its central location, making it easy for guests to explore the city. The friendly staff at the 24-hour front desk ensure a smooth check-in, adding a touch of warmth to the stay.

While the rooms may show some signs of age, they remain clean and comfortable. The hotel provides good value for a short stay, especially for those looking for convenience without the frills of upscale accommodations. Overall, a practical choice for travelers.

I appreciated that the balcony door could be opened, which is not something many hotels offer. However, the room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, likely from guests smoking near open windows. The bed was spacious and comfortable, but the shower was quite small and caused water to spill across the bathroom floor. Check-in was quick and efficient, and the reception area was nicely presented. The clientele in the lobby seemed a little rough and had a noticeable smell of drugs, though I wouldn’t say that’s the hotel’s fault.

Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t feel like a true four-star stay. There was a lot of noise early in the morning, with doors slamming from 6am and cleaning staff making quite a bit of noise. Small details, like the lack of hair conditioner, made it feel more like a budget hotel. Though well priced, I had expected a higher standard.

Booked a last-minute stay at the Copthorne Hotel Auckland City for one night on May 29 in a Superior King Room. The location is very central, which was perfect for my needs – easy access to the CBD, waterfront, and transport. Staff at the 24-hour front desk were friendly and check-in was smooth. Having private parking was a bonus. That said, the room felt a bit tired and in need of minor repairs – dated fittings and general wear and tear were noticeable. It was fine for a short stay, but could use some refreshing to match expectations.Good for a night if you need a central, no-fuss option in Auckland.

Stayed one night on May 7 in a Superior King Room. The location is excellent – very central and convenient for getting around Auckland. The 24-hour front desk and private parking were helpful for a short stay. The room was clean but showing its age, with a few small repairs needed. It did the job for a quick overnight, but don’t expect anything modern or recently refurbished. Good value at NZD 113.12 for a last-minute city stay.

I stay here every couple of months for business travel and cannot be more impressed with the location, friendly staff, great value rooms. And a decent view and the warm morning sun to wake you in the morning if on that side of the building.
Sure the hotel is not in pristine condition but it’s clean and tidy and the price reflects the condition. If the hotel were to be refurbished the prices would surely double. I’m happy as it is. Great work!

Stayed in a Superior King Room on May 19 for one night. The central location is the standout – easy walk to the city centre, parks, and transport. Staff were friendly and check-in was efficient. The room was comfortable but still feels a bit dated, with signs of wear and tear. It’s fine for a short stop in Auckland, but could benefit from some modern updates.Overall, a practical choice for a quick overnight in the city

The rooms are spacious and clean. Check in was easy and the woman on the desk was very helpful and kind. The lobby is lovely. But I’m giving this hotel a 2 overall because after spending $300 in the restaurant, the service was very poor. We had to ask for more drinks, our table wasn’t cleared. When the deserts came (which we had to go and order at the bar because again, noone came to check on us the whole time) despite someone being stood there on his phone. We had to shuffle plates around to fit deserts on the table. He still didn’t clear the main plates. It just made it uncomfortable for us to enjoy our meal. For the price, I hoped for more.

Really disappointed with our stay, chose this based on photos and that it’s an Oaks (thought it would be reputable) but it isn’t like the description. Really dirty, everything is so worn. The carpet was just still together, dining chairs backs were loose, couch had barely and cushion. The freezer wasn’t working. Tiny rooms. No air con. It smelt. The location was pretty good.

3 of us stayed for the weekend for a concert. The location was fantastic, staff super friendly and the room was modern, clean and had everything we needed. Carpark was close and not as small as others in the city. Perhaps we had a renovated room? as I do not agree with the other reviews that the room was tired. Excellent beds too! Yes, the bathroom is narrow but it does have an excellent wide mirror that 3 of us girls could use at once. If I could have anything added it would be a full length mirror and a box of tissues, but that is me being extra! Thanks team. We will see you again soon

Stayed here 2 nights with a friend. Comfortable room. Great views. Had a washing machine and dryer which was great. After washing we tried to use the dryer which unfortunately wasn’t working, we informed staff who suggested we use another dryer in a different room, that dryer wasn’t working either, staff took clothes and used another dryer and returned to our room later that evening. The customer service at this Hotel was excellent, highly recommend.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights returning to Canada from a holiday in the Cook Islands. Hotel was in the perfect location for walking Auckland’s downtown area. Prices was good. Suites are a little spartan but our rooms were clean and quiet. Staff was nice and helpful. The suites can be rented long term so it appears much of the hotel is home to many people. All in all I would say Auckland is an expensive city so are hotels. This place was a bargain which gave you a safe place to sleep and shower.
