Shout out to Sarah and other Administrators at NZTT. My son and I had a wonderful three weeks in New Zealand with the exception of having a shuttle service to Tongariro Alpine Trail cancelled due to high winds. Perfectly understandable however, despite several attempts I was unable to obtain a refund from the provider who cancelled the service. So, reluctantly, I contacted Sarah who within a few days, i was able to obtain a full refund.
This was astonishing! (I should have known that NZTT would come through.) They have additionally put the privider on notice that their refund policy is too restrictive and unreasonable. Future traveller’s to New Zealand will benefit from NZTT ‘s diligence.
Thanks so much for your dedication to members. You are awesome!

Exceptional Assistance from Ms. Sarah Chant – Highly Recommended!
I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the outstanding support I received from Ms. Sarah Chant at NZTT.
After facing challenges with my skydiving booking and a credit refund that wasn’t in line with what was promised, I reached out for assistance. Ms. Chant took the time to understand my situation thoroughly and worked tirelessly to help me secure the cash refund I was rightfully entitled to. Her professionalism, patience, and clear communication made a significant difference during what was a frustrating process.
Thanks to her dedication and prompt follow-up, I was able to resolve the issue with Backpacker Deals and get the refund I needed. It’s rare to encounter such a high level of customer service, and I truly appreciate her going above and beyond to assist me.
Ms. Chant is a true asset to the NZTT team, and I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone seeking support or assistance. Thank you again, Sarah, for your help and exceptional service!
To those planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New Zealand and looking to make the most of discounts on various activities, I would like to share a few helpful insights based on my recent experience.
If you’re concerned about cancellations and the potential for receiving credit refunds instead of cash, I highly recommend booking your activities through NZTT. While my case did involve a slight delay, I ultimately received a cash refund rather than the credit refund initially offered by Backpacker deal, thanks to the exceptional support of Ms. Sarah Chant at NZTT. Her assistance was invaluable in ensuring that my refund was processed appropriately.
Additionally, when planning your itinerary, I advise arranging weather-dependent activities (such as skydiving, etc.) for the earlier part of your trip. This will provide a buffer of days in case any cancellations or delays occur due to unpredictable weather, which can be quite common in New Zealand. By building flexibility into your schedule, you’ll have peace of mind knowing you have time to reschedule or make alternative plans if needed.
I hope this information helps fellow travellers and enhances your experience in New Zealand. With the right planning and support from NZTT, you can enjoy your adventure to the fullest without worrying about the unexpected!
Safe travels and happy planning!
Warm regards,
Jason Chan

I had a draft itinerary for a month-long trip to the South Island. I decided to set up a zoom meeting with Sarah to go over my draft and it was the best idea ever! Sarah is so kind, warm and friendly and, most importantly, so knowledgeable. She asked some questions to get an idea how my husband and I like to travel and then we went through my draft day by day. Sarah suggested some changes which made our itinerary much better. She recommended activities day by day. She came up with ideas I would never have thought of even with all my research. She turned my trip into what will be a fabulous experience. And then she put me in touch with Antony who assisted me in booking our airfare, car and accommodations. Antony was wonderful, got us some great deals, figured out different options when some desired accommodations were already booked and always responded very quickly. He was a pleasure to deal with. I am so happy I used both their services to plan our trip.

Weta Cave is a must-visit for movie lovers! The displays are impressive, with detailed props and behind-the-scenes insights from films like The Lord of the Rings, Spiderman, Dracula…etc. The staff is friendly and passionate—an inspiring stop in Wellington to discover the secrets behind the movies

Hetty Beenders (☆ 5/5)

NZTT’s FB page was my primary resource for all planning for my long-awaited trip back to NZ after 40 years. I was blown away how helpful Sarah and the team were on any queries I had, but more than that, how collaborative NZTT is with the sharing of ideas and first-hand knowledge from local Kiwis. I’ve accessed many travel sites, in my time, and NZTT surpasses them all! Having over 100,000 members over a relatively short period of time, tells the story right there. I thought that once I returned from my month back in NZ, I wouldn’t need to follow this page any longer, but I cannot seem to leave it, as it contains so many like-minded people who truly love to share their expertise and experiences throughout this beautiful country. What’s also impressive is the positivity and politeness of members when responding for advice on itineraries. NZTT is definitely a role model for what a collaborative travel page should strive to be!

Sarah Chant was amazing! I had a starting point of an itinerary and have been a part of the NZTT Facebook group for while. The group alone was very helpful but I was busy with work and overwhelmed by finalizing plans for our trip to New Zealand. A consultation with Sarah alleviated all of that stress and she provided just the right amount of guidance and itinerary suggestions to alleviate that anxiety and help me finalize the plans and start getting everything booked. We had a wonderful trip and I feel like we maximized our time in NZ. It was great to have a local as a guide in the planning process. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful Park! Great hiking gorgeous trails and views. The trails are well marked and easy to follow. Some elevation but extremely doable. The staff at the visitor center was very helpful and well informed. She gave us excellent advice and information for a great hike and shortcut back to town.

Went for a short visit. Lookouts was awesome. The staff and guide were extremely helpful. Driving to this place was fun, the roads were quite narrow, might want to avoid taking big busses to this place. Drive to this place was short. Parking was easy to find.
Looking forward to trying out the trails soon.

I have been to this visitor center efore. It is very nicely taken care of with plenty of parking and easy access. The view from up there is fantastic and the near by nature trail is beautiful. I recommend checking it out but be careful of the drive there. The roads are tight if you are not used to driving NZ roads.
Erastos Evdoxiadis (☆ 5/5)

Such beautiful and relaxing hiking trails here!
The centre is well setup so you get to have a short tour before your walk and a good rest after.
The view is magnificent!
Most important it is not far, with multiple choices of the walking trails fit for all ages.

I went expecting a quick photo op, but walked away with a whole new appreciation for nature. The pictures don’t do it justice. The bees! (I was a little nervous), but seeing them work their delicious magic was fascinating. The people working there made it special. They genuinely love what they do, and you can feel it. They shared stories and made me feel like I wasn’t just a tourist. If you’re looking for a genuine, heart-filled experience, I highly recommend this spot. You’ll leave feeling a little more connected to the world, and maybe with a jar of the best honey you’ve ever tasted.

Great place to spend a few hours with kids. The cafe is in a great location. it’s super crowded at busy hours like breakfast and brunch time on weekends; but it totally worth it. The activity center is free for kids play. Limited activities, but still good. They also have real baking activities for groups of children that is very fun for them.
Mansour Ganji (☆ 4/5)

The baking classes are highly recommended, such a fun learning activity, and you are taught by a professional baker. I felt like I was on MasterChef. The Pavlova Roulade class was fab and have booked the Lamington course next.

Did the 1hr full tour. Great tour with a lovely tour guide. Nice mix of videos, train ride and wandering around

Awesome place to visit. It was a labour weekend open day. Beautiful spot by the sea with views across yo the harbour bridge and city. Great play ground and picnic area
The kitchen was open and showed all the cooking courses they did. It looked amazing!
Sue Nielsen (☆ 5/5)

My daughter did the baking class yesterday and she thoroughly enjoyed it. When we came in to pick her up the lady teaching it was so kind. What’s nice is that onsite there is a lovely cafe and a playground. It meant our four year old (too young for the baking class) was able to have lunch with us and play on playground while we waited for baking class to conclude. The cafe is very nice and the meals come out so promptly! They do good kiddie waffles and I enjoyed my poached eggs. They also have their butter softened enough to spread on toast which I appreciated – some places overlook small details like that. Lovely decor and all around a hidden gem that I didn’t know existed across the shore. Set in such a beautiful reserve.

Ten quirky Taranaki places was very useful. It was easy to decide where to go. The best one for me was Te Rewa Rewa bridge with Mt Egmont in the background. Architecture with nature, best combo of all! It would be helpful to have a location map with the ten places marked. Are you think of upgrading your maps?
