Customer Reviews
Went here for a birthday dinner. Service was great, you couldn’t ask for a more helpful waiter. The steak tartare was really yummy, not something I’d usually order but did enjoy. Had the steak as my main & it was cooked perfectly. All the food & cocktails was presented beautifully as well.
Natalie S (☆ 4/5)

What seemed like a fantastic idea turned into an experience that left me questioning whether it was mere mismanagement or something more concerning. This restaurant came highly recommended by my mum, and upon discovering that Mother’s Day fell on a Sunday and that One Tree Grill was surprisingly open with a special menu for the occasion, I booked immediately for me, Mum, and Dad. Perhaps I should have hesitated.
The food quality was excellent: visually appealing, harmonious flavours, and expertly cooked—except for the duck, which tasted faintly of five-spice and was slightly chewy. The service team was plentiful, attentive, and professional.
However, the three-course meal took 2 hours and 20 minutes, with the dessert arriving over an hour late. We were told three times it would be “5 minutes away.” My dad grew visibly annoyed, and just as we prepared to leave without it, the dessert finally appeared.
Despite the food and service standards, the delays left a sour note. Deeply disappointing.
Clifford Callistus (☆ 3/5)

An amazing dining experience with delicious food and fantastic service best sums up One Tree Grill.
The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, on entering you walk across a glass floor viewing the wine cellar below, staff are attentive and responsive to your needs. The food is presented superbly and the meals divine, and very timely between courses leaving you space to savor the wine and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The perfect location for that special occasion and definitely wont be our last visit!
Terry Chandler (☆ 5/5)

We phoned ahead of time incase we got lost on our travels….
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by a lovely young lady.
The soft lighting and elegant decor created a calm and refined ambiance. The staff dressed impeccably and were very hospitable.
We choose the Degustation Set Menu,
Every dish was beautifully put together and each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and flavors.
The desserts were well crafted and the flavors were incredible.
As our evening was coming to an end, we felt completely satisfied, not only from our delicious food but also the overall experience. The staff were amazing and our drinks were delicious.
I would definitely recommend One Tree Grill and go back again.

Breakfast was incredible and it’s probably the fastest coffee I’ve ever had made for me. Keen to go back!! This place would definitely be popular in Melbourne.

Amazing service. We had 2 Odettes Complete, a latte and an apple juice. Paid 83$ and it was worth it. The waitress was very kind and she gave us complimentary still water. You can ask for sparkling. We recommend

Super amazing place to have your breakfast early morning!!
I loved the drink called Dirty London Fog.
All the meals were in good portions and tasty.
It would be nicer to have our iced drink with larger sized cups for those prices, though.
Will come back sooner!

Lovely friendly staff, the smashed avo #1 was absolutely delicious! Smashed avo perfection Tried the foggy London town, earl grey syrup iced drink – also tasty (fairly sweet which suited me) but not really worth the$8 price tag.
Very cool little place, highly recommend and would def visit again next time I’m in auck.
Crystal (☆ 5/5)

Tasty bagels, lovely staff and great coffee! What can you ask more?
We love how generous the fillings in our bagels are and how friendly the staff was. Love the salmon bagels especially!
We had a great experience here and definitely would recommend others to go and give it a try. I would love to try other menu as well!

HS Hung (☆ 5/5)

One of the best meals I’d eaten in my two weeks in NZ and certainly the best iced coffee! I got the power bowl and dirty London fog and my husband got a black coffee and the big breakfast. All the food was super delicious and the staff exceptionally kind. Would definitely recommend.

Mr. Black (☆ 5/5)

If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Everest Dine is an absolute must-visit! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine Nepali hospitality.
The food was nothing short of amazing every dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. We tried the jhol momo, and honestly, they were out of this world juicy, perfectly spiced, and the broth was rich and comforting, truly the best I’ve ever had! We also had the Nepali goat curry and the vegetable curry, both of which were outstanding, bursting with authentic flavors and beautifully presented.
A special shoutout to Pawan, the manager, who went above and beyond to make our experience special. He even offered us a complimentary dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending to an already incredible meal.
The hospitality at Everest Dine is simply superb you feel like family from the moment you arrive. Highly, highly recommend to anyone looking for genuine Nepali cuisine and a memorable night out!
Nidhi Rawat (☆ 5/5)

Everest Dine is hands down one of the best Nepali restaurants I’ve been to! The food tastes just like home—especially the momos and thakali set, which were full of flavor and felt truly authentic. You can tell everything is made fresh with care.
The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick even though the place was pretty busy when I visited. The atmosphere is cozy with a nice mix of traditional Nepali touches, making it feel warm and inviting.
If you’re craving real Nepali food or just want to try something new and delicious, I highly recommend Everest Dine. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Lochan Sunar (☆ 5/5)

We dined on a weekday so there were less people. The server was really nice and since it was our first time trying there, we were given a complimentary dish.
The momos were big and filling. All the dishes were generous in portions. Moreover, they were all yummy.
Service was superb. We will definitely try here again. Highly recommended!
Gleeko Magpoc (☆ 5/5)

An incredible spot with delicious, home-style food and truly outstanding service. Every dish was packed with flavour and felt just like a comforting homemade meal. Highly recommend to everyone—an absolute must-try!
Sidrat Hashin (☆ 5/5)

Had an amazing experience at Everest Dine! The food was absolutely delicious — the momo was super juicy and flavorful, and the masala tea (even though it wasn’t on the menu) was so good. The thali set was fire too, packed with so many tasty dishes. I loved it so much I had to come back for a second visit! Highly recommend if you’re after authentic Nepalese and Indian food in Auckland.

I love this cafe sooo much.
If you go there you must try the iced coffee shake and the bird bowl.
The cheesecake is so delicious.
Service is always amazing, the girls are super nice and friendly.
A little bit pricey but it’s definitely worth it.
Update: still love this place but unfortunately they changed the bird bowl, this one is not as good as the other one, nothing special about it, flavours are not as good. I wouldn’t order it again.
Ximena A (☆ 5/5)

Lovely little cafe with an impressive selection of plant based cakes and sweets, while also serving lunches with full table service. I will be honest, I really did not enjoy my food at all, but the way the staff handled that was amazing. They inquired as to why to understand, made me feel comfortable about being honest and didn’t charge me. I couldn’t eat it so appreciated it. I will be back to try other items as I love creative vegan food but found specifically the Vietnamese Crepe to be extremely unbalanced. It had so many bitter and astringent elements and the texture was rough and stringy with an occasional mouthful of pickled carrot batons or cashew, none of which I was fond of. The pancake itself was almost more like injera in a Vietnamese style. I love injera and traditional Vietnamese pancakes – but this did not work for me. All the same – I will be back. I really appreciated the staff and options in general.
Syd Eats (☆ 5/5)

With great ambience, high quality tasty vegan meals this vegan restaurant / cafe has a lot going for it.
We loved everything we had, I’m told the coffee was great too. The mushroom rosti and sprouted bread come recommended by me
Jalitha Vishika Vithanage (Vish) (☆ 5/5)

Update (mid Feb 2024):
I don’t often update my reviews, but man, the service has changed since we last came here. We went today, and the service was so slow even though there were 4 FOH staff and the restaurant was at 15-20% capacity. We waited at least 20 minutes to order, and then food was around a 30 minute wait on top of that. The food IS good, but when the staff look your way so little you can’t make a wave or eye contact to say you want to order is low key crazy. My partner and I definitely didn’t think a casual Saturday brunch would take > 60 mins. Would love to see service be at the counter only, as this could save time and streamline the ordering process, if waiting tables is not efficient for the staff. Whilst the food is good, not worth the wait.
Original review (late 2024):
The kai is amazing, with lots of gluten-free and dairy-free options. The corn toastie and waffles are both highlights!
Danielle Peck (☆ 3/5)

Absolutely delightful on all fronts. It will never get old being able to order without checking if things contain dairy (which I am allergic to). I had the maca smoothie and the ginger hotcakes and both were delicious. Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff. I couldn’t resist taking two pieces of cake away for the big day of travelling ahead!
Hiker Hol (☆ 5/5)

Being a massive meat eater and not realising this was a Vegan Cafe, it turned out to be a great experience.
The Vietnamese Crepe & Pumpkin, Parsnip with chickpea soup was amazing. The produce was very fresh and flavoursome, serving sizes were decent as well.
The coffee was great, the atmosphere was relaxing and a large selection of raw food slices. Worth a visit when in Ponsonby and the 4PM closure time is a bonus.

I visited Sunflower twice and the food is delicious! I got laksa which was absolutely amazing and the spicy crispy chicken on rice-I’m a big fan of the mock chicken texture
Prices are really good, portions were big and the girl behind the counter is super sweet!
Definitely recommend

Had an excellent time dining here with my family. The servings are greatly sized and worth the price with how delicious they were too. I had the Dumpling Soup, next time I’d get rice on the side to finish it off
Thank you very much to the lovely lady who gave my son a candy cane after he had a small upset during dinner. + even a cute sticker after ☆

Amazing vegan food and super friendly service
The restaurant is a bit hidden at the back of the building and definitely worth the quest to find it. I’ve been there two times.
First I had the massaman curry. It was very tasty and not too spicy for my taste (I am very sensitive and ordered the mild version)
The second time, I ordered the Buddha bowl, which was also delicious even tho the picture promised more tofu.
I can definitely recommend checking out this amazing Thai restaurant!

Delicious Thai vegan food.
Love the spicy chicken with rice.
Dumplings are delicious.
Best roti I’ve ever had.

I came here with a friend during Ramadan. The staff were very accommodating and wanted to serve our food in time for Iftar. They gave us the option of free lentil soup or dates for the month of Ramadan which was very lovely.
The hummus here is divine and a must order. I loved their sabich the eggplant with chickpeas and hummus, chefs kiss! The skewers are super fresh they are my go to! Highly recommend
Nadine Mortaja (☆ 5/5)

A Cozy Experience at Ima Cuisine…
Ima Cuisine is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the warm, cozy vibe and lovely lighting set the perfect mood for dinner.
We started with the mezze platter…The pillowy, fresh pita paired beautifully with the creamy hummus, smoky baba ganoush, and smooth labneh. The pickled veggies added the perfect punch, and the falafel was crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside—some of the best falafels I’ve had in a while.
For mains, we shared the halloumi and chicken along with a variety of sides.
I’m already planning my next visit—especially during the day so I can have their famous hot cross buns! If you’re looking for comforting, authentic Middle Eastern flavours in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, Ima Cuisine is a must-visit.
Highly recommend 🙂

Excellent restaurant in the heart of downtown Auckland. Amazing food – I had bharat spiced chicken, and halloumi, followed by their hot cross bun pudding. Mains come with various sides. The chef/owner is very proud of her restaurant, and rightly so. Highly recommended – it’s worth buying their recipe book. Oh, and dependent on availability, the hot cross buns are incredible – they use the same recipe in the pudding.

Good foods, nice and unique environment.
Staffs are smiling.
Clean and very cosy place to have a meal.
Recommend for a meal.

Ima has always been my favorite restaurant ever since it first opened. The food is delicious & has this simple, home cooked feeling. The mezze platter of bread & dips is so good, I would go to Ima’s just for this! The baba ghanoush is my fave. All the mains were great, the slow braised lamb shoulder was melt in your mouth. We also tried the vegan dish & it was really good. Just be aware it’s a big dish. We were the last table to leave – i think we sat there for like 3hrs and no once did the staff try to rush us out the door. Always such a good dining experience.

Ima Cuisine offers a truly exceptional Middle Eastern dining experience. The flavors are vibrant, authentic, and beautifully presented. The service was equally impressive. Rupert, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure we had everything we needed and provided great recommendations. The warm atmosphere, combined with the delicious food and excellent service, makes Ima Cuisine a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Had lunch here enjoyed the Brick Lane – Salt Beef Sandwich despite it being on the pricey end. Decor and furniture was a bit dated but service was excellent. Worth a try if you havent been before.

This funky vegan restaurant/cafe is a contender for the best vegan food in town!
Lots of seating and a good atmosphere too
The seize her salad was the best caezar salad I’ve had (I’ve had a lot), I highly recommend it, it has everything that makes a good caezar salad and more!
The gorilla fila was an exceptional big breakfast. Highly recommend that too (worth the carbs over the keto a good life dish)
This is the kind of place I’d be willing to come back again and again till I clock the menu

Chazz Hill-Hayr (☆ 5/5)

The food here was fantastic, I am not vegan but my girlfriend is, and the food was top notch. They could not stop raving about the pizza and the pancakes. Will 100% be back.
shyam sharma (☆ 5/5)

The place is all plant based. So, what is there not to like about.
I had the All American Burger. And what a burger that was: really big, really juicy, and really messy. Just the way it is supposed to be. It was divine. Seriously, if you like a really good burger, go there. Even if you were a meat eater. I will definitly come back to sample a few of the other dishes.
Johannes Berweiler (☆ 5/5)

What a lovely surprise the Gorilla Kitchen turned out to be. Lovely staff great atmosphere, wonderfully clean and most importantly a menu list that made your mouth water while reading it and it certainly lived up to the reviews. Delicious

The food here is fantastic and some of the best Indian food I’ve had! The lady who served us was kind and welcoming. I highly recommend the Pav Bhaji, it was absolutely delicious. The Dosa was also a highlight, and the portion sizes were generous. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Porsha (☆ 5/5)

We walked passed and decided to try this place! You can tell this Indian restaurant must be authentic when you see lots of Indian people are eating here! We ordered rose lassi and it was absolutely amazing! Not too sweet and feeling refreshed. The food was great and we would definitely come back again! Highly recommended.
hehe (☆ 5/5)

went in today to grab some lunch with my parents, their food was absolutely delicious. We ordered dahi puri, potato vada, gujrati thali and pav bhaji. Every single dish we ordered was made with such care and the taste was impeccable, I would highly recommend getting the pav bhaji as it was definitely a highlight. Every dish arrived on our table within 10 minutes and it was all hot and straight from the kitchen. The atmosphere of the restaurant truly felt like home. The service provided by the staff was excellent. Will definitely be going again sometime soon !

This place is awesome!
It’s very small and unassuming. It doesn’t have the typical Indian decorations to attract people. In spite of that, it’s a very busy little restaurant and take away. There is a constant stream of people ordering take aways, as well as sit down guests.
They opened up a bit late, and the food takes a while to come out of the kitchen, because they are so busy, but it is absolutely well worth the wait. If you want a quick bite, then rather order in advance. Otherwise this is the perfect place for an extended, relaxed lunch with friends or family.
The food is delicious and authentic. Every bite was an experience. It’s real ghar ka kanna (home cooked food). It doesn’t have unnecessary cream or sugar or overly oiled and spiced, just good, homely food that makes you want to have more!
I had to pack most of mine, because I wanted everything, but couldn’t eat it all.
It’s real good value for money. I would recommend it to everyone. The lady at the counter was very friendly and patient in explaining the different food to a group of ladies that sat nearby.
Joanie Badenhorst-Awasthi (☆ 5/5)

Food was good and decent. Tried the Mysore masala dosa, accompanied with chutney, sambar and curry.
Curry is very good, sambar is decent but coconut chutney is disappointing
Bombay style poori is very good. Piping hot and accompanied with potato fry, salad and papad, wish they provided some pickle along with it.
Kiddo had dahi puri and faluda (nip), both are very good.
Overall value for money but don’t expect much ambience and hospitality, would have given 5* if hospitality is good
Santhosh Kumar (☆ 4/5)

This vegan Cafe has done fabulous food options but there’s room for improvement. Be prepared for a wait when ordering food online. Bunless burger served with lettuce, was flavorful but it was very messy to eat. Overall its a good spot to eat if you’re patient and don’t mind the mess.
MJ Wads (☆ 3/5)

I was pleasantly surprised by this plant-based burger place! As a first-timer to plant-based burgers, I ordered the Spicy Mex, and it was delicious. The burger itself was well-made and flavorful, a testament to how far plant-based options have come.
Jccn Z (☆ 5/5)

This is my favourite burger in Auckland – big fan of the classic cheese and I’m not even vegan.
Fries are also cooked to perfection but often have a bit too much salt.
Super lovely owners, at peak times they get busy so expect to wait a bit – so worth it !
Have heard the onion rings are good so I’ll try those next time.
Natalie G (☆ 5/5)

Amazing Experience – Highly Recommended!
I went to this place with my girlfriend for a burger, and we had an amazing experience! We ordered a spicy bean burger and a Chicken Deluxe, along with a delicious vegan Banoffee milkshake.
The food was fantastic—the burgers were flavorful and satisfying. I’m not vegan, but I can confidently say that these burgers are just as good as any meat-based ones.
Highly recommended! I’ll definitely be coming back. Great job, guys!
RobinMike (☆ 5/5)

Made for the many that crave a dirty dish more than they probably should. Let me tell you, these burgers are no joke – the amount of flavour these puppies pack will leave you with one happy tum. Inside out and outside in, there were no flaws. Fresh ingredients, the right amount of sauce, squishy buns, making it one flawless burger. Fries were golden. And to drink it all down, a shake thicker than your moms chest hair. Bring along your meat loving friends, and watch their faces melt as they come to learn that this place services 100% vegan deliciousness.
CC (☆ 5/5)

Obsessed with Wise Boys!
One of the best burgers I’ve ever had and I’m not even vegan!
On top of that we had some of the best service I’ve ever received!
I highly recommend The Dirty Boy & their Ice Cream Sandwiches!
