I was a patient for 5 weeks after 3 weeks in hospital. I can tell you that the change of environment made all the difference- the gardens with access from our rooms, the 'family' atmosphere, BBQ Wednesdays, a better nurse-patient ratio, really personable & individual care, thoroughly planned weekly schedules. It is an ideal physical and mental rehabilitation facility. You really cannot underestimate how important your mental rehabilitation is when you have new physical limitations. Access to the outside was a huge improvement to Auckland City Hospital!!! Which would take 20-30mins in a wheelchair.
