I started going to see Jonathan 8 months ago after a serious shoulder operation feeling pretty downtrodden. He instantly bought in to my experience and story, researched my particular injury and surgery relentlessly and showed me the care for my journey that inspired me to not only comeback from injury but also be the best person I could be. Rob and the rest of the team were all super helpful and supportive too. A great network of professionals that provide life-changing results.

I have been going to Leaton and working with Rob for the last two months now and wow has my neck shoulder pain reduced. The staff are absolutely amazing, always positive and so friendly! I have been having this lingering shoulder neck pain for almost 2 years now and gone to several physio, osteo and no one was able to find the root cause and help me fix it. Rob is so knowledgeable and experienced, given me exercises to and we are now working on strengthening! Highly recommend working with Leaton Performance! Such an amazing team and vibe!

Tena koutou katoa, ko Stacee-Jaye ahau he tangata taru kino me inu waipiro kaiwarawara ahau. He paetahi nui ahau o Te Papa Taumata.
I came into Papa Taumata with an aspiration to work the programme and I had reserved motives of doing it my way, I realised it got lonely for me at the point after I was flying under the radar, holding negative power in the house, not holding my peers accountable, and behaving as if anti-social behaviour wasn’t going to have an impact in all aspects of my recovery. It was a timely experience learning new ways to do everything all over again literally from scratch, I took risks I never thought would be hard to manage with control issues, vulnerability, boundaries, relationships in general, trust, and honesty.
By the time I graduated I had being dreading my last month leading up to the end of it, fear of discharge, fear of failure.
I’m grateful to all the staff of Papa Taumata for their forceful efforts that have changed my behaviour and attitude towards a different life moving forward.

Recently our 16 year old fell off his mountain bike, hit his head and lost consciousness. White Cross confirmed that he had a mild concussion. A friend recommended Concussion Care and our son was assessed by Dr Chad. Dr Chad and Treena were very warm and friendly and that really put us at ease. After running some tests Dr Chad took the time to explain to us what it meant and how to get our son back on track. Within a few days he was back to school and within a week he was mountain biking again. Now after a month he’s back to life as usual. Would highly recommend Concussion Care. Thank you Chad for all your help.

Thanks to Dr Gary and his Team, the program that he created I am finally seeing lots of improvement with my recovery of several concussions. This deeper understanding helped me a lot in my way of recovery. Highly recommend!!

On my first visit to concussion care, everything felt hopeless, I was trying everything to get better and nothing was working, my life felt turned upside down and i had to give up almost everything i used to do before my injury. After a month of starting treatment with concussion care, I have now achieved full quality of life and can do all the usual activities I was doing before my injury, the people are also very warm and welcoming and create a safe space for you to recover, I strongly recommend.

Chad was very self assured and certain he could help my daughter with her constant headaches. Concussion tests seemed a little inconclusive so the advice was to try neck adjustments. It was disappointing that there was such a ‘sureness’ that it would help and when it didn’t we were told my daughter needed to believe it would help more or it wouldn’t. I know they have helped alot of people who have actually had concussion but I really felt like my daughter probably didn’t have concussion and perhaps admitting that would have been better.

When I made the first phone call to Concussion Care, I didn’t really know what to expect. I just knew that my son needed more help than he had been given after a horrible sports concussion.
As soon as my son walked through the door, he was greeted with kindness, acceptance and dignity. Every step was explained, every change had a follow on plan. Dr Gary is patient, understanding and will be with you every step of the journey.
10 months later, and Concussion Care is still a huge part of our life. It has given my son the ability to live life, play sport again, and understand his body more than before.
I will be eternally grateful to all of the team.

Coming from overseas in Fiji after 6 months post concussion to visit Dr. Gary Dennis was a very eye-opening experience for me. Dr. Gary helped to treat the different symptoms I was experiencing from a concussion by educating me on its impacts internally and externally, as well as carrying out exercises and chiropractic manipulations to ensure a well rounded recovery. Dr. Gary and the clinic were very helpful, responsive and show genuine commitment, concern, and understanding of their work and their clients. Thank you to the Concussion Care Clinic.

I was in excruciating pain since January I decided to book with Jennifer who looked after me so well and reassured me even at week 7 that I will be alright and continue to reflect duty of care with all types of treatments until I was fully healed. What a godsend it was for our daughter and us to find Clinic 77. After years of mental health issues and a high dependency on marijuana, she was on a dramatic downwards spiral. After 2 months as an inpatient in 2023 and then months as an outpatient she is now a stable, mature young woman who is confident and happy. The highly organised daily timetable and firm but flexible discipline built into a warm, caring family environment was the perfect blend for her. Tarsha and her team’s excellent skills, together with their own life experiences, give an understanding few organisations could replicate.  We absolutely would recommend Clinic 77 and we feel we now have support for life.

I was an inpatient in Clinic 77 for 8 weeks in 2023 and I can honestly say that they changed my life and continue to do so.
I was struggling with addiction and mental health issues stemming from unprocessed trauma. My life was unmanageable and I was not coping. Going into the clinic was one of the toughest and bravest things I ever did but I was welcomed by clinicians who had all walked the same path in one way or another and had gone on their own healing journeys. This created a level of understanding and trust I had not experienced with other therapists and Drs. They met me where I was at and guided me to the place where I am now. They supported me, guided me and challenged me more than I had ever been before. They provided individual and group therapy sessions, which gave me the tools I needed to work towards the life I dream of. I’m still on that journey (I think life itself is that journey), but looking at where I am now compared to where I was then and for most of my life before that, I cannot believe how far I’ve come. Thank you to Tarsha and Charlene and all my wonderful therapists at Clinic 77. Without you all I wouldn’t be the woman that I am today. Much love to you all!

The programs offered at Clinic 77 were impressive. They weren’t just one-size-fits-all approaches. There was a great mix of group therapy, individual counseling, and alternative therapies that helped me not only heal but also develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Leaving Clinic 77, I felt like a completely different person. I was empowered with the knowledge and tools needed to maintain my sobriety and build a fulfilling life. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their incredible support system.

I attended The Turning Point at a time in my life that I no longer wanted to be a part of life any more. At the time, I would have been happy to have been shown the exit door to existence. I had no hope left. I believed I was broken beyond repair and attendance there was just putting off the inevitable.

I’m happy to say that the staff at The Turning Point helped me to change my thoughts on life and supported me back to a place of health, choice, happiness and serenity. They have a holistic approach that is real, down to earth and relatable.

My attitude on arrival there was dismal. Vile, really, and I quickly came to realise that I was not going to get any value out of the program if I did not participate with an open mind and try everything on offer – lets face it, everything I had tried hadn’t worked. It was time to let someone else have a try at ‘fixing’ me.

They know what they are talking about. Many have lived the experience of addiction and can relate to guests stories with their own life experience. The Turning Point accepts anyone who needs help without judgement, with compassion, where they are, at the time they need help.
The Peer Support workers are magic and the AOD Counsellor is a godsend. These people will help you get your life back.

I have noted that there are some negative reviews placed that claim that the staff have written all good reviews. I can only speak for my own experience and about my own review. I am not staff. I suspect that those who have not had a good experience were not ready yet for recovery. Nobody can force a person out of an addiction, no matter how desperate their family is for their loved ones to return to health. The Turning Point extends a hand of help to support any person who has reached the point that they want their own recovery, health and sanity restored.

I still go The Turning Point returning a couple of times each week for their continuing care program to help me be strong in my recovery. I know that I am welcome at any time that I feel I want or need a safe place to be, or to see people who have become friends.

Thanks TTP

I was a guest at the Turning point many months back and am now a public advocate of their facility.

I suffered from Alcoholism for over 28 years and have since turned MY life around. This was partly due to determination and AA, but the support and care I was provided at The Turning Point and thereafter from my friends who I met from their program has given me the strength I needed to continue of my new life of sobriety.

It was the supportive staff who have ALL suffered from addiction and now continue to live new enriching lives that gave me the motivation to push on.

I would not hesitate to recommend Turning Point to ANY addict who TRULY has hit rock bottom and wants to recover in a caring and loving environment. There is no price I could put on what I experienced except that it was the best use of my funds and pays itself back. I volunteer four mornings on my week there before my actual job and value this time more than ever in my day other than I do spending time with my wife who now lives with a clean and sober loving husband. Keep the great work up Peter, Andrew, Helen and the wider team!

I was given a voucher to use the hot/cold plunge and sauna and really enjoyed my experience. Staff were super helpful explaining everything. I was a bit nervous about the cold plunge but it was awesome (once you push through the initial shock). I felt super refreshed and energised afterwards. Facilities are great and it’s a really good set up. Highly recommend as a nice treat to self or a gift. I’ll be coming back whenever I feel like I need a reset.

We came in as a group of 10 as part of a recovery session for our football club and absolutely loved it. Charlie is really knowledgeable and helpful, we split into groups and took turns using the spa + cold pool, sauna & compression boots. It was a great team bonding experience! Highly recommend

I came on the first day of opening, And I had to admit they have a really good set up, Also everything is new clean very well organised.

The ice bath was hard to get in but after a min it numbed my body after 5 to 10 minutes I never felt so good.

All in all I recommend this place to anyone with sports injuries, mental health, stress, anxiety, or even a bad back.

Overrated and made many mistakes on records. the person who tested me was not diligent- once it is there it is hard to take off. Always go for a 2nd opinion. Worse thing I found was using the bathroom and not having a toilet paper dispensery and I guess Jill is too frugal to buy one as the toilet paper piles up on the back of the toilet with dust and dirty hands after using the toilet. I was actually a bit shocked but this tends to be standard in this country with hygiene.

I was a patient for 5 weeks after 3 weeks in hospital. I can tell you that the change of environment made all the difference- the gardens with access from our rooms, the ‘family’ atmosphere, BBQ Wednesdays, a better nurse-patient ratio, really personable & individual care, thoroughly planned weekly schedules.
It is an ideal physical and mental rehabilitation facility. You really cannot underestimate how important your mental rehabilitation is when you have new physical limitations.

Access to the outside was a huge improvement to Auckland City Hospital!!! Which would take 20-30mins in a wheelchair.

Catalog of services offered by rehabilitation centers in Auckland

    Assessment and Evaluation

Rehabilitation centers in Auckland often begin the process with a comprehensive assessment and evaluation. This crucial step involves understanding an individual's specific needs, medical history, and the extent of their addiction or condition. Professionals conduct detailed interviews and assessments to create a tailored treatment plan.

    Detoxification Services

Detoxification services are essential for individuals dealing with substance abuse. Rehabilitation centers provide medically supervised detox programs to help clients safely manage withdrawal symptoms. This phase is vital for ensuring the individual's safety and comfort as they begin their recovery journey.

    Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a cornerstone of rehabilitation, allowing clients to engage in one-on-one sessions with licensed therapists. These sessions focus on addressing personal challenges, underlying issues related to addiction, and developing coping strategies to maintain sobriety. Tailored therapy is essential for effective recovery.

    Group Therapy

Group therapy is another key component in rehabilitation centers. These sessions bring together individuals facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of community and support. Participants share experiences, learn from one another, and build essential skills for long-term recovery through facilitated discussions.

    Family Therapy

Understanding that addiction affects families, rehabilitation centers often offer family therapy sessions. These sessions aim to rebuild trust, improve communication, and educate family members about the addiction process. Involving loved ones is crucial for creating a supportive environment for recovery.

    Relapse Prevention Programs

To help clients maintain their progress, rehabilitation centers provide relapse prevention programs. These programs equip individuals with tools and strategies to identify triggers, cope with cravings, and manage high-risk situations. Preventing relapse is essential for sustaining long-term recovery.

    Life Skills Training

Life skills training is offered to prepare individuals for successful reintegration into society. Rehabilitation centers teach essential skills such as time management, financial planning, and effective communication. This training supports clients in leading fulfilling lives post-treatment.

    Aftercare Support

Rehabilitation does not end upon completion of the program. Aftercare support is crucial for maintaining recovery. Centers provide ongoing support through alumni programs, support groups, and access to resources that help individuals stay connected to their recovery community.

    Holistic Therapies

Many rehabilitation centers incorporate holistic therapies into their treatment plans. These may include yoga, meditation, art therapy, and nutrition counseling. Holistic approaches aim to address the mind, body, and spirit, promoting overall wellness and enhancing the recovery experience.

Frequently asked questions about rehabilitation centers in Auckland

What types of rehabilitation services are available in Auckland?

Rehabilitation centers in Auckland offer a variety of services tailored to meet the needs of individuals struggling with different issues. These services typically include substance abuse treatment, mental health support, physical rehabilitation, and dual diagnosis programs. Each center may specialize in specific areas, so it’s important to research and find one that aligns with your needs.

How do I choose the right rehabilitation center?

Selecting the right rehabilitation center involves careful consideration of several factors. Look for centers that have a good reputation, experienced staff, and a proven track record of success. It can also be beneficial to visit the facility, speak to staff, and understand the treatment approach they use. Additionally, consider factors such as location, cost, and the type of programs offered.

What should I expect during the intake process?

The intake process is an important step in your rehabilitation journey. During this phase, you will typically undergo a comprehensive assessment that includes questions about your medical history, substance use, and mental health. This information helps the staff develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and goals.

Are rehabilitation programs inpatient or outpatient?

Rehabilitation programs in Auckland can be either inpatient or outpatient. Inpatient programs require individuals to stay at the facility for a specified duration, offering a structured environment for recovery. Outpatient programs allow individuals to attend treatment while living at home, providing more flexibility. The choice between the two often depends on the severity of the condition and personal circumstances.

How long do rehabilitation programs typically last?

The duration of rehabilitation programs varies significantly based on the type of treatment and individual needs. Typically, programs can last from 30 days to 90 days for inpatient treatment, while outpatient programs may extend for several months. It’s essential to understand that longer durations often correlate with better outcomes, so discussing your options with a professional is advisable.

Will I receive support after completing the program?

Many rehabilitation centers in Auckland offer aftercare programs to support individuals after they complete their treatment. These programs may include support groups, individual counseling, or other resources that help individuals maintain their recovery. Aftercare is crucial for preventing relapse and ensuring a successful transition back to daily life.

Are family members involved in the rehabilitation process?

Involving family members in the rehabilitation process can be highly beneficial. Many centers offer family therapy sessions or educational programs to help loved ones understand addiction and how they can support the recovery process. Family involvement can strengthen relationships and create a more supportive environment for the individual in recovery.

What are the costs associated with rehabilitation centers?

The costs of rehabilitation services can vary widely depending on factors such as the type of program, duration of stay, and amenities offered. It’s important to inquire about insurance coverage and what out-of-pocket expenses may be expected. Many centers can also provide information on payment plans or financial assistance options for those in need.

    Is confidentiality ensured during treatment?

Confidentiality is a critical aspect of rehabilitation treatment. Reputable rehabilitation centers adhere to strict privacy policies, ensuring that personal information and treatment details remain confidential. Patients should feel secure knowing that their information is protected and that they can seek help without fear of judgment or repercussions.

How can I support a loved one in rehabilitation?

Supporting a loved one in rehabilitation involves patience, understanding, and active participation in their recovery process. Encourage them to engage in their treatment, attend family sessions, and communicate openly about their feelings and experiences. Providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment at home can significantly enhance their chances of long-term recovery.
