I understand that this gym is modest and I should not expect perfection, especially since I’ve visited many gyms around the world. However, for things to reach the level of legal issues and police involvement — that is something I have never experienced before. Of course, I always support communication with legal authorities, but for this reason, I believe this option requires a lot of thought before deciding to join. They should not be trusted.

got given a tour with my sister poppy. The guy working Ranger was so lovely and funny! He answered all our questions about the gym and made us feel so comfortable. Definitely ask for Ranger if you are signing up!

I hate going there because it's the closest to my university and one of the most affordable gyms. The biggest issue is the hygiene in the men's bathroom, which is absolutely horrible; you can always smell the stench, and I've never experienced it being clean no matter when I go. When you walk past three or four staircases, there's a disgusting smell coming from them, and I have to hold my breath.
Sometimes the machines are taken, but that’s fine because it’s normal for City Fitness. However, what I really don’t like is that some machines, such as the standing calf raise and leg extension, have hard cushions that hurt my bones, making it difficult to lift.
I have no problems with working out, but I hate going there because of the poor hygiene and not being able to do leg day due to the hard cushions on certain machines
Update: 7 months after I reviewed it
I still keep going to this gym because I don’t have any other affordable options. I noticed the restroom became cleaner a few weeks after CityFitness responded to my comment. However, a few months later, it reverted back to its original state, and it’s still unpleasant to use. It’s extremely crowded, and many of the machines are constantly occupied. I’m not sure if it’s worse than before, but it just being CityFitness.
I strongly encourage you to avoid the CityFitness on Queen Street. Instead, go to the one on K Road because it's much better: less crowded, cleaner, has colder water, and offers an overall better experience. The only downside is that it’s a bit harder to get there.

Turn on the air conditioner please! The whole gym was like a qiant oven super hot inside!! After workout on the treadmill I almost fainted!! Why not turn off all the useless boring televisions on the wall and super noisy pointless music as well to save power and turn on the AC?? We paid the membership fees ok! Just turn on the AC please!!!

I'm a new member and my experience so far is meh. App access, class booking process, internet access to name a few are frustrating and disappointing. Staff that I talked to on a weekend morning needs more training. And, if you're booking for Pilates Reformer, you need to book the minute the booking opens or else you won't get in as spaces are quite limited. Had I known all these, I would've not signed up. Thinking of cancelling as it has been a stressful experience!

The place it's really spacious and has a lot of implements to train. The only negative point are the bathrooms, the guys pee a lot outside in the floor and when you go to the shower and when you go back to the lockers you have to pass thru. Some of the showers are a bit broken and the soap sometimes it's broken too. But in general it's really good!

It had all the equipment I needed, and the gym floor was spacious—from the shower and locker rooms to the workout area. What really stood out was the stretching and warmup space—it’s the largest I’ve seen in any gym. I loved using it for both my warmups and yoga sessions.
Cleanliness was never an issue either (found some dated reviews a year ago). There were plenty of wiping supplies, hygienic spray, and napkin stations, and the staff were always roaming around to keep the place clean. (Some instances you'd see napkins on the floor and empty energy drinks beside the equipment left by irresponsible members.)
Unfortunately, I had to cancel my subscription because of a medical issue with my right ear. The process was surprisingly easy. I contacted the staff, sent over the required documents (legit medical records from the clinic), and explained my situation. They waived the four-week notice without hesitation, and the entire cancellation was handled smoothly via email.
Will go back anytime surely.
