Best gym in Auckland.
Love that there’s a women’s only section upstairs, never seen that in any other gym.
Great equipment, probably one of the biggest gyms in Auckland, always clean, staff is alright but some of them could be more friendly.
Toilets are always clean, never seen them dirty.
Only thing is that I wish they had stretching machines like the ones in Les Mills Britomart.

I’d like to begin by giving a big shout out to T.J. And Lauren. They were so helpful and welcoming. They created an incredible first impression and helped us find our way around the huge facility.
I’ve been to many gyms the world over, however I would rate this one as stand out exceptional; an example for others to follow. Not only are the classes and instructors world beating, but the equipment is second to none. Les Mills led the way in introducing corporatised and standardised science based fitness classes decades ago.
Notably, during the pandemic Les Mills delivered an on demand offering that was affordable, and accessible, for people who had minimal equipment at home.
I’ve been going to Les Mills classes for over 20 years. It’s an unbelievable experience to attend a class led by someone you’ve watched in on demand classes again and again. Glen and Rach are two of my favourites, pictured below.
Importantly, Les Mills continues to innovate and, in my opinion dominate, the fitness industry because classes are designed theoretically and lean into current trends. Importantly they are trialled live and modified inline with user feedback. I attended Kylie’s new Hatha Earth class and provided feedback verbally and online.
Fabulous also to attend a Trip class in the state of the art studio; as well as, use the well equipped and designed women’s gym. Loved seeing dumb bells in increments of 1kg. Useful for people with less upper body strength. Absolutely loads of weights equipment for people at all fitness levels.
Helpful staff throughout the gym directed me to equipment and to the changing rooms.
Something else I noticed; didn’t see any broken equipment. Overall not a single negative thing to say.
Wendy Gidman (☆ 5/5)

The best gym I have ever been to.
World class.
Wheelchair access
There is a non wheelchair friendly stile, but reception staff can help you access the back half of the gym (boxing, circuits, weights, functional movement area).
But they have the front half of the weights, stretch and women only areas are split by the stile arm and the air Bridge, so half the gym will be difficult to access.
The toilets, sauna and changing area for male and females is down stairs which would be difficult for full wheelchair disability. For torn achilles or if on crutches then it’s pretty navigatable.
Cafe / Coffee / energy drinks / food
They have a cafe or seating area and a separate cafe in the facility that serves food and coffee / drinks and it’s very delicious, a bit pricy but all healthy. Separate business not associated with LM.
Xtreme Nutrition
There is a supplement store just next to the LM parking building which has great service and products, not associated with LM.
Physio, PTs and nutritionist
They have physio, World class PTs and a nutritionist on site.

Salute
I understand that this gym is modest and I should not expect perfection, especially since I’ve visited many gyms around the world. However, for things to reach the level of legal issues and police involvement — that is something I have never experienced before. Of course, I always support communication with legal authorities, but for this reason, I believe this option requires a lot of thought before deciding to join. They should not be trusted.

got given a tour with my sister poppy. The guy working Ranger was so lovely and funny! He answered all our questions about the gym and made us feel so comfortable. Definitely ask for Ranger if you are signing up!
Catherine (☆ 5/5)

I hate going there because it’s the closest to my university and one of the most affordable gyms. The biggest issue is the hygiene in the men’s bathroom, which is absolutely horrible; you can always smell the stench, and I’ve never experienced it being clean no matter when I go. When you walk past three or four staircases, there’s a disgusting smell coming from them, and I have to hold my breath.
Sometimes the machines are taken, but that’s fine because it’s normal for City Fitness. However, what I really don’t like is that some machines, such as the standing calf raise and leg extension, have hard cushions that hurt my bones, making it difficult to lift.
I have no problems with working out, but I hate going there because of the poor hygiene and not being able to do leg day due to the hard cushions on certain machines
Update: 7 months after I reviewed it
I still keep going to this gym because I don’t have any other affordable options. I noticed the restroom became cleaner a few weeks after CityFitness responded to my comment. However, a few months later, it reverted back to its original state, and it’s still unpleasant to use. It’s extremely crowded, and many of the machines are constantly occupied. I’m not sure if it’s worse than before, but it just being CityFitness.
I strongly encourage you to avoid the CityFitness on Queen Street. Instead, go to the one on K Road because it’s much better: less crowded, cleaner, has colder water, and offers an overall better experience. The only downside is that it’s a bit harder to get there.
Evan250250 (☆ 1/5)

Turn on the air conditioner please! The whole gym was like a qiant oven super hot inside!! After workout on the treadmill I almost fainted!! Why not turn off all the useless boring televisions on the wall and super noisy pointless music as well to save power and turn on the AC?? We paid the membership fees ok! Just turn on the AC please!!!
Ash C (☆ 1/5)

I’m a new member and my experience so far is meh. App access, class booking process, internet access to name a few are frustrating and disappointing. Staff that I talked to on a weekend morning needs more training. And, if you’re booking for Pilates Reformer, you need to book the minute the booking opens or else you won’t get in as spaces are quite limited. Had I known all these, I would’ve not signed up. Thinking of cancelling as it has been a stressful experience!
mony victoriano (☆ 2/5)

The place it’s really spacious and has a lot of implements to train. The only negative point are the bathrooms, the guys pee a lot outside in the floor and when you go to the shower and when you go back to the lockers you have to pass thru. Some of the showers are a bit broken and the soap sometimes it’s broken too. But in general it’s really good!
Santiago Andrés Del Zotto (Santi) (☆ 4/5)

It had all the equipment I needed, and the gym floor was spacious—from the shower and locker rooms to the workout area. What really stood out was the stretching and warmup space—it’s the largest I’ve seen in any gym. I loved using it for both my warmups and yoga sessions.
Cleanliness was never an issue either (found some dated reviews a year ago). There were plenty of wiping supplies, hygienic spray, and napkin stations, and the staff were always roaming around to keep the place clean. (Some instances you’d see napkins on the floor and empty energy drinks beside the equipment left by irresponsible members.)
Unfortunately, I had to cancel my subscription because of a medical issue with my right ear. The process was surprisingly easy. I contacted the staff, sent over the required documents (legit medical records from the clinic), and explained my situation. They waived the four-week notice without hesitation, and the entire cancellation was handled smoothly via email.
Will go back anytime surely.

There are trainers who teach a class, and then there are trainers who transform it — Jake is definitely the latter 🙂
Ever since I started going to his spin classes (The Trip) I even tried his BodyPump class once!, I find myself genuinely looking forward to every session. His energy is uplifting, his words are motivating, and his presence is powerful. No matter how tough the ride gets, you’ll push through — and actually enjoy it. Truly the best part of my week!
Thank you, Jake, for bringing your energy and inspiration every time!

As a long term member (>5 years) this is a very clean and well equipped gym. Friendly staff. Rarely crowded. Almost always enough weights, benches and racks available (also heaps of cardio machines.)
Sandeep (Saap) (☆ 5/5)

Don’t bother coming between 630 and 730, it’s so packed free weights area is unusable
Paul Matthews (☆ 3/5)

The gym is always extremely clean, it has a very pleasant space and flow of people. In front of the subway station then it’s perfect. A good schedule of group classes and mostly good devices, but the adductor and abductor chairs are greatly missed. They could review this investment…

I’m so glad I decided to join next Gen! There is no better place to unwind after a long day at work. Yesterday I went to the rooftop pool at 5pm, which would be considered peak times at other gyms. I had the pool to myself and got to watch the sun set!
I’m really excited to try out the classes and the cafe.
You get what you pay for and I second the recent reviews: highly recommend

Awesome gym & facility – I just wish the “cool plunge” pool could be turned into a proper cold plunge/ice bath style pool as it is hardly cold – it would be great to be able to do contrast therapy between the spa/sauna/steam room and the cold plunge pool! I’m confident many members would love this addition. Cheers
Stuart Keys (☆ 5/5)

Not clean.
Too expensive for this messy gym.
People don’t put them away.
The gym staff don’t even care.
I told the gym staff I don’t like the messy gym. She just said ok.
Now I don’t have any expectations.
Cancellation fee is $500. Ridiculous.
Many people are using their phone in the pool area. Makes me feel uncomfortable.
P.S. I went to the reception to talk about the phones in the pool. They said ” Trust People “
I’m DONE! I can’t believe it!
I told my clients and friends about what they said.
Everyone said ” unbelievable “
I would like to cancel my membership free.
This is not what I expected!!!

Worst service ever!!!!!! My friend recommended me this gym~ first impression was really good. Love it. Hence, sign up as a family of 5 and recommended my parents to sign up at the same time. At the time, it was their promotion period – a family sign up will get $100 credit to spend in house. This is when the worst nightmare happen~ such a big brand gym but their Admin was horrific. It took them 2 months to load that credit into our account with numerous follow ups which was a burden to us. During the follow ups,Tom one of the sales promised that he will give another $50 credit on top of the $100 as a token of apology cause it took them ages to process it – this was thru a phone call. We believed him, gave him time to process it – it’s been another month since that phone call but NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. We followed up in person – He PROMISED he will do it. Please do your work~ it’s really a bad impression for customer to keep following up tiresomely and nothing has been done. DOES IT NEED ANOTHER 2 MONTHS FOR THE APOLOGY TO BE DELIVERED?
I think if your company is sincere in apologising then the action will be taken immediately.

Today, my partner and I decided to try out the Sunday tennis class, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience—not because of the class itself, but due to the incredibly unhelpful and rude receptionist.
When we arrived, we asked the black-haired receptionist lady where the class was held. She casually said, “Oh, in front of the indoor court,” without offering any further directions or assistance. Confused, we wandered around the facility trying to find the indoor court ourselves but had no luck.
We went back to her and asked the same question again, hoping for clearer guidance. Her response? The exact same phrase: “In front of the indoor court.” No pointing, no effort to explain, just a blank stare as if we were supposed to magically know where it was. When we explicitly told her we had no idea where the indoor court was, she just stood there, staring at us, making no attempt to help.
Thankfully, a kind member noticed our struggle and took the time to walk us to the court. Meanwhile, the receptionist just stood there, doing nothing. Her lack of basic customer service skills and arrogant attitude completely ruined our first impression of the place.
We were initially planning to sign up to the gym, but after dealing with her, we’ve decided not to. It’s a shame because the tennis coach, Maco, was lovely and very helpful. However, one great coach can’t make up for such poor customer service at the front desk.
If you’re considering this place, be prepared to deal with unhelpful staff—unless you’re lucky enough to avoid the receptionist altogether.

Great spacious gym. Plethora of equipment and two boxing area’s. This will be my new regular out of all the locations.
ian campbell (☆ 5/5)

The gym itself was nice enough as were the staff – I put the account on freeze while overseas for a couple of months – I had to do it twice. They charged me the entire time – when i called about it when I came back the woman at the gym confirmed they could see the freeze request and assured me payments team would sort it. Payments team said they spoke to club manager and had no supporting documents (which are in their own app) so no refund.
Cancelled membership and won’t be back – I’m sorry I didn’t check trust pilot before I will keep reposting this review as a public service as it seems like it is their consistent practice.

It’s finally time to write a review for this gym. I’ve honestly been reluctant because I don’t want the gym to get any busier the atmosphere is really great and Pawan (the owner) is friendly and you can tell he genuinely cares about the gym and the people. The gym is constantly getting updated, it’s a really positive atmosphere to be in, seeing things improving while you’re improving with your fitness goals too also good affordable membership options.

Five months in, and it’s about time we shared our experience. Transitioning from a well-known gym made me a bit apprehensive, but Pawan truly excels at connecting with people. He created an atmosphere that made us feel like long-time members right from the start. The gym is equipped with new machines that you won’t find in most places, making this the best decision we ever made. Thank you! Sonia and Sushil

Probably the friendliest gym I’ve ever been to thanks to Pawan (owner) and his team. You just get on and do your thing with no one judging. It has an awesome community vibe too. Pawan is constantly improving all aspects of the gym which is why his customers have given him 5 stars all the way!

Wide range of equipment and staff is always friendly and willing to help out. Also not too packed so you don’t have to wait on equipment. Definitly worth the money
Tihan Mulder (☆ 5/5)

Spacious and has more kit than other snaps out East (e.g. heavy kettlebells, bands, decent circuit training area)

Been going to this gym for 3 years. Well maintained facilities and friendly and helpful staff. There’s a stadium upstairs with 6 hoops that is free to access for members. Wide range of fitness classes to choose from as well. PT service is also available. Lastly, it’s rare to find a gym that opens as early as 5:30am in Auckland, perfect for 8 to 5 workers like me.

Everything is really nicely organised, the space is clean and well equipped, the staff are friendly and helpful, you can access PT services, Physio, and the upstairs basketball court.

Pretty decent powerlifting gym; deadlift, bench and squat equipment. Accessory machines and free weight area, dumbbells to 50kg, 4 bench/press areas, deadlift and trap bar, back extension leg extension and multiple cable areas. Will visit again

First time playing indoor soccer ⚽️, its clean and safe and well ventilated plenty off space friendly staff, however the carpak is not free but there is plenty of carparks, it is good I recommend for indoor sports activities.

Great place, I use it all the time and it is really helpful. They will lend you a basketball to play with if you want to play basketball and forgot your own and their facilities are amazing. Would definitely recommend as the best place around for the price.

Great place for social games. Decent amount of car parking. Access is a bit restricted for our disability community due to a lot of steps. Great location near the on ramps to both SH1 and SH20.

Recently refurbished, well-equipped and clean gym; warm and welcoming staff and always something to get involved with (competitions, raffles, celebrations). We’ve been going to this gym for years and rate it very highly. I recently returned to the gym after having my 2nd baby and the environment was so welcoming. Love coming here! Shout out to the awesome manager Josh.
Victoria Oarga (☆ 5/5)

Excellent gym when I lived in the area, now it got renovated if I ever move back I would love to be a member again. High quality machines, usually very little wait times, friendly patrons, even friendlier staff. Were always helpful with sorting out membership and cancellations, really felt like the member’s experience was number one, not meeting their budget. I don’t know if that is the way they are run top down or by this particular branch, but I love that business culture and it deserves to be rewarded. While this gym is quite small by NZ standards, it is surprisingly well equipped and had at least one of everything I wanted to use. Another cable machine would have been nice as getting a spot on that was always tricky, but perhaps they did get one with the renovations.
David (☆ 5/5)

Amazing local gym. Brand new quality equipment, not too busy, clean and safe. Staff is friendly and supportive, free activities, low membership fee. Join and have fun!

Honestly straight up, have had a great time going to this gym. The staff are a blessing to interact with, and new renovations have made the space fantastic! From someone who often feels intimidated by the prospect of physical movement. I now welcome the next opportunity to enter into an oasis of wellbeing.
Great work team!
