We had my daughter’s 5th birthday party here. The kids had a great time. The dance teacher was awesome and incorporated some of my daughter’s favorite songs. And the cafe was such a lovely space for cake and lunch. We will be back for more events in the future!

My wife booked a ‘Line Dance Themed’ Class with Viva Dance Studios for a ‘Last Rodeo’ Hens Do. Below is her feedback;

The communication from the outset was so great! The team were so easy to deal with, accommodating and responded to any questions promptly.

Saione the teacher on the day was fantastic! He was punctual arriving to the venue, friendly, easy going and did SUCH a great job with how he ran the class – he was so clear in how he taught us and overall brought such a fantastic energy. He did a great job with song choice, read the room and gave time for drink breaks as we needed. Everyone really enjoyed themselves!

Highly recommend – thanks so much Saione and Viva Dance!

We had a Hen’s Party event at the weekend, with Mery as our dance instructor for a salsa class. It was so much fun, Mery was incredible, fun and patient with us, and everyone had a wonderful time, and lots of laughs. The studio was spacious and cool, lots of room to fit the 15 of us, and facilities to change before and after.
Will definitely recommend group events here.

A huge thank you to Jessie for her time, energy and experience in creating a beautiful first wedding dance for me and my husband. We don’t do much dancing and Jessie made a lovely routine for us. She made sure we were happy, asked us if we wanted to push our dancing skills a bit more and had a good insight into any apprehensions/nervousness.

We felt so at ease and had a great time. Our guests loved the dance and we highly recommend Jessie and VIVA dance – thank you!

My 4yr old daughter loves the classes. The dance teachers have such patience for her and try to answer every question she askes as she has alot. Kids get distracted and the teachers always brings them back to the group to participate. No one is left behind. Ballet and Tap dance is teaching her how to go with the rhythm and to have rhythm, being more confident and talkative. Arco dance and gymnastics has made her more flexible, given her a bit more upper body strength and has taught her how to keep her balance and taught her how to do a somersault correctly without injuring herself plus more.

We went for the trial today and our little one adored the toddler toes class. Teacher Aly was a ball of happy energy and really got the class moving, there were many sweet snuggly moments with cuddlesome teddies and plenty of dancing and singing to get grooving. The assistant teachers were lovely too and the studio itself is a beautifully proportioned, light-filled room with plenty of space for all the parents to stay and enjoy the class too.

We loved our time at toddler toes dance class by Miss Nats at Studio 246! It’s been amazing to see my daughters confidence grow from ages 2 to 5. Early on her listening skills really improved and she’s now developed a real passion for performing which I credit to this activity. She is so excited to continue developing her skills through the school-aged classes. Thanks for providing a wonderfully organised and fun dance class that has served us well in the past and we look forward to continuing in the future.

I have no hesitation in recommending the studio – they offer fun classes, exam classes, competition crew classes, private lessons, studio hire, in-house competitions for all students, holiday programmes, stretch/acro classes, concerts and probably more that I have forgotten!

My husband and I are not dancers. We were skeptical when we first met Kimberley and she said we’d have a fabulous dance that would absolutely wow our guests – but I’ll let the photos below speak for themselves. We really enjoyed our lessons and felt as comfortable as we could be in what initially felt very out of our comfort zone. I’m so glad we put in the effort, we’re so proud of what we achieved and we really did wow our guests! Thank you Kimberley and Elle for your patience and understanding – especially with all the rescheduling of appointments due to my on call shifts!

We approached ADC about lessons for our first dance and our experience with them was exceptionally wonderful from start to finish!

Kimberley is an absolute super star on top of being a genuine and kind person who we loved getting to know!

With neither of us having any dance experience, she made us feel comfortable from day 1 by taking the time to get to know us and we both immediately felt that we had made the right choice.

Kimberley put so much care and passion into every aspect of our dance routine as well as the custom song mix she curated to go with it. Her extensive experience and commitment to her craft is very apparent.

We had several lessons over the space of 3 months and Kimberley, Elle, and the rest of the ADC team were a dream to deal with throughout. Elle was super responsive and organized, always helping us arrange and move appointments around.

We can’t thank Kimberley enough for her energy and for always knowing exactly what advice to give at each moment. Our dance routine completely blew our expectations out of the water and performing it on our wedding day felt like something out of a dream.

We kept our practicing a surprise from our guests and they were absolutely floored witnessing it on the day. Several friends came up to us right after and said it was one of the best first dances they’d ever seen.

We can’t recommend Kimberley, Elle and the team at ADC enough! Thanks to you, our first dance was the perfect jewel on our special day.

Pauline and I are so appreciative from the bottom of out hearts. Thank you so so much ❤️

I’ve been going to the heels class at Auckland Dance Co every Wednesday for the past two years, and honestly, it’s one of the best parts of my week! From the first class, I felt welcomed and supported, and now I can’t go a week without this amazing little community.

Kim is an incredible teacher, so talented, encouraging, and genuinely invested in every dancer’s journey, no matter your experience level. She’s built such a safe, empowering space for us to grow in confidence, push ourselves, and just have fun.

In the time I’ve been here, I’ve done multiple photo shoots, a dance shoot, and even performed in a show – things I never imagined I’d have the guts to do! And it’s all thanks to the beautiful group of girls who show up every week, cheering each other on and lifting each other up. It’s more than just a dance class – it’s a community, a confidence boost, and a midweek joy!

I recently had the joy of taking my first ever dance class ever and I made the right call going to ADC.
I never thought dance was for me – I felt too awkward and clumsy (too cool) to think I’d be any good, however, my fears were instantly quashed when Kim started the class. Her professionalism, relaxed & inclusive style and encouragement is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced and very quickly I noticed my progress – I went from two left feet to king of the beat!
ADC is the place to be & Kim is the teacher you need – She truly is the best in the biz!

From the second Armand and I got engaged we knew we wanted to have a choreographed first dance. I searched around on the internet for dance lessons and found Auckland Dance Company. We filled out the enquiry form: 1. did we know our song? – yes! and 2. did we have previous dance experience? – no (that 1 hip hop dance class I took when I was 13 did NOT count).

It was an extremely easy booking process and ADC were very accommodating to our busy schedules. When the day came for us to go to our first lesson we were both super nervous but the song “Never Ending Song” by Conan Gray had just been released and we were dancing around in the kitchen to it. The music video had some really cool dance moves, we instantly fell in love with the whole vibe and thought – what if instead of doing the slow song we had picked for our first dance we do something more upbeat?

We arrived at our first lesson, met Kimberley and told her we had decided on a slow song but literally 1 hour before our lesson we had changed our minds. She brought SO much energy to that first “consultation” lesson. We showed her the music video and explained why we loved the artist/song she was instantly keen to choreograph something really cool and got us even more excited. We cannot recommend Kimberley enough. She was an absolute angel. She is exactly the type of person every couple need to hang out with before their wedding. Kimberley was like our own personal cheerleader, every lesson with her was the highlight of our weeks. The sessions were so therapeutic and she was so encouraging when we got really down on ourselves or couldn’t nail a certain move. She’s an amazing dance teacher, very patient, so incredibly talented and one of the best listeners.

We kept the dance a secret from our friends and family saying that we were going to “generic” dance lessons like ballroom or something to just pick up some moves but it wasn’t anything serious. Little did they know we had a super cool 2minute30second routine coming along rather nicely… When our wedding day finally came our dance was definitely a highlight of the night and a fun surprise for everyone!

Kimberley and the team at ADC gave us so many tips and tricks before the big day and we literally could not have done it without them. Everyone loved our dance because Kimberley helped our personalities shine through our performance. We could gush about them all day but I’ll finish with: If you are looking for a wedding dance choreographer – look no further. 10/10 would book again.

I had been looking to get back in to dancing after a bit of a break from it after school. I was after a dance company where I could come to class and feel like I was truly part of something magical – Auckland Dance Company has certainly exceeded this expectation!

Coming to class is something I look forward to every single week. It is a place where I don’t feel judged for how well I can dance (or not), it is a place where I can come in and nothing else matters for an hour or so. Kim brings such a vibrant and beautiful energy to each and every one of her classes, and this radiates out to us students – we leave feeling fierce, empowered and part of something sensational!

I could not recommend Auckland Dance Company enough – it has made me feel so much more confident!

Amy Hanlon (☆ 5/5)

I’ve only joined Auckland Dance Company fairly recently (about 3 months in) but I feel like I have been so welcomed, valued, and encouraged in this short amount of time. Kim is such a passionate, kind spirited, and joyous teacher who really takes the time to connect with everyone in the class and inspire you in ways that best suit you. I genuinely couldn’t ask for a better community of girls who uplift each other – and also just laugh and be silly together.
ADC is a great place to learn amazing dance skills (no matter your level) and just experience joy through dance – there is no pressuring or competition. The dance shoot and photo shoot opportunities are super fun and the team really takes the time to make sure that the outcome is something you can be proud of.
I genuinely genuinely recommend coming an and dancing at ADC if you’re keen to learn awesome new dances, grow your confidence, and just generally have fun!

Great group environment, whether you come to class as a couple or on your own.
The chances are good that you are going to make new friends.
Private lessons and wedding dance packages are also offered.
Great value for money. One of the most economical dance studios I have come across in Auckland.
Free introduction classes are held (normally every one to two months): See their website or social media

For anyone wanting more detailed feedback:
The initial thought of going to a ballroom dance class can be intimidating, whether you do it on your own or as a couple. Going to the first free introduction night was the hardest part, especially since I went on my own.

The instructors are friendly, and the group dynamic of the class is great. The classes are made up of around a 50/50 split between couples and singles. The makeup of men and woman are normally skewed slightly toward more woman. However, there are instructors and helpers who rotate to ensure everyone dances with a partner.

For couples: You get to learn something new, spend time, and challenge one another.

For individuals: You learn a new skill and meet new people. After a few lessons, you know the people around you, and it becomes more about learning the dances and enjoying the time than who you dance with.

In summary: Some come and learn the basics and others become part of a great group. You make new friends of which the instructors are part of.

DFLA is such a great Dance Studio! As an older dancer with experience as a young adult, I was keen to return to a dance studio that would support my needs as a mum, worker, and community member with expertise and finesse. I love the classes! They are challenging but accessible, creative but focused on excellent ballet principles. There is no judgment about what stage of dancing you are at, and there are no ballerina divas here! It’s incredibly supportive and professional at the same time. Would highly recommend!

If you are considering doing Ballet as an adult, this is honestly the place to do it! They have so many different options for classes and I was so happy to find a studio that has the option of structured syllabus-style learning. The teachers are wonderful and make sure they know their students well so they can help progress them in a way that is unique to each individual. The community is very friendly and welcoming too.
One of my favourite parts about dancing here is the annual show! We actually get to perform on a stage in a theatre with costumes and everything! It’s optional of course, and we spend months preparing. Any one from any level is able to participate in it and it’s an incredible journey to be apart of, and it’s a time when the whole community is able to get together and support each other as it’s no easy task, but one that is very rewarding in my opinion. All in all, I often find myself counting down the days until my next class. Cannot recommend DFLA enough!

My 5 year old daughter has been with DFLA for 2 years and LOVES coming! She has grown in confidence and made some super friends (so have I, in the waiting room!) A real community feel with a lot of care and aroha.

Returning to ballet after aiming to be a professional ballerina was a daunting feeling, but the teachers’ reassurance, comfort and talent made these feelings disappear. My weekly ballet class at DFLA is one of my favourite times of the week. I feel free of work, life and children worries and have also made wonderful like-minded friends.

Good dance studio overall, but cleanliness needs improvement.
The studio has a lot of potential and provides a great space for dancing. However, it’s often quite dirty, the mirrors are rarely clean, and when doing floor work, there’s usually hair, dirt, and dust bunnies around. Considering this is a dance studio where cleanliness is essential for hygiene and comfort, I would expect the space to be much cleaner and better sanitised.

Extremely LGBTQ+ friendly studio.

Dance teacher Gabe has a professional yet laid back attitude making classes starter friendly and welcoming for all. He has massive respect for the OGs and teaches students the history of moves we learn allowing us to give credit to the communities dances originate from.

Reception is kind and helpful. All round a safe, clean, and community based environment for adults which is hard to find these days

I love coming here – recently did the 4 classes for $20 intro pack and it was definitely worth it. There’s quite a few different genres to pick from, mostly beginner classes, and the intro pack allows you to try a few and find what works for you. A very welcoming environment with very cool people, super easy to have a good time.

If you’re looking for a studio that’s welcoming to dancers of all ages and skill levels in Auckland, then you must take classes here at Hit Dance Studio! The teachers are highly skilled, and are great at breaking down the choreographies so that it’s easy to follow. They don’t mind (even love it) when students ask questions, which is very appreciated. They offer so many different choreography styles too, so you can learn new things as you take classes.

I highly recommend Hit, whether you’re just visiting Auckland, or planning to grow as a dancer too. 🙂

I began my Bachata journey with Latinissimo over two years ago, and the beginner’s course provided me with a solid foundation in the fundamentals while boosting my confidence to step into the social dance scene.

It’s time to leave a review and not to keep this dance school as “the best kept secret”. I have been with Latinissimo for almost a year learning Salsa and Bachata. I have also done one day workshops and intensive summer courses. There are many great dancers out there, just not every dancer is a great teacher. Teaching requires a different skill. Gian is both a great dancer and an incredible teacher. He’s got the ability to dissect the move into tiny small micro moves so it makes sense and not so scary and unattainable. Alina is a friendly, energetic and great dancer, adding her sparkly touch as an instructor. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum of courses and levels. If you’d like to learn Salsa, Bachata, have fun and make new friends, this is the place!

I’ve taken two salsa classes with Latinissimo and absolutely loved them both. Giancarlo is an amazing teacher and explains not only the dance but the history and musicality as well. Other classmates have always been lovely and welcoming. 100% recommend for anyone looking for a fun place to learn

Latinissimo Dance is definitely the place to go if you are serious about technique and musicality. I totally recommend trying salsa on 2 at this school if you’re considering it. The courses and levels are well structured and organised. Gian is very professional and puts a lot of effort into what he does. His assistant teachers have all been fantastic too. I really enjoyed the recent salsa immersion course over two weekends – an injection of content and practice (a great refresher with plenty of new challenges). Thanks and see you again soon

It has been an absolute joy taking salsa classes at Latinissimo! Gian and Alina are excellent instructors; they’re helpful, attentive and precise, which means you’re set to pick up the proper technique in a very accessible way.

As a non-dancer, joining Level 1 Salsa was perfect because they take you through it from the very basics. It is such a beginner-friendly environment, I didn’t feel out of place at all.

You can see such a major improvement in yourself within just a couple of classes, and the reference videos really help you when practicing at home. Gian also organizes a great social dance fortnightly – the perfect complement to the weekly classes.

I’ve already signed up for my next courses as I just can’t get enough! Keep up the awesome work, Gian and Alina 🙂

I’ve taken level 1 salsa and bachata classes at Latinissimo Dance and have very much enjoyed both. Giancarlo provides a safe environment for total newbies like me to give it a go. He is passionate about sharing everything he knows with the class including the history and musical theory behind the dances. I intend to continue classes here.
