Customer Reviews
From the very first bite, it was clear that this restaurant takes flavor to another level. Each dish had its own unique blend of spices, creating a symphony of tastes that kept us excited for the next course. The attention to detail in balancing flavors was truly impressive. Their drinks are very innovative.
To top it all off, they surprised us with a beautifully presented dessert for our wedding anniversary, complete with a candle—such a thoughtful and heartwarming touch ! The experience was nothing short of mesmerizing. The staff are so friendly and approachable with smiles on their faces. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates exceptional food and a memorable dining experience!

Overall, I would go again!
The food quality was very good and rich as I would expect. I was a bit suprised knowing that rice is not included in the meal. The garlic naan was exceptional the pair with my butter chicken! Come with an empty stomach because you will eat a lot.
The drinks are really the star of the show. Each one is unique and special. They really put on a show for certain drinks.
Christopher Hurst (☆ 4/5)

Previously the restaurant had a good portion of mains which were delicious. Recently it looks like it has bern taken over by another owner (i may be wrong) , the portion size were so small for all meals, we were shook as we had a great experience before compared to last time). The flavours of the curry all pretty much tasted the same. Chicken was dry, water was warm.
Photo attached was a “main” priced approx $32.
Do not recommend.
Riya Sen (☆ 1/5)

Visited for late lunch. First impression was best. Chose to visit because I could see good veg options in the menu. Tasty food and service was great. Friendly staff, quick service. Loved the ambience. Cutting Chai was the highlight of my visit. Would like to visit again.
Priya Karjigi (☆ 5/5)

The food at 1947 is quite unique and somewhat different from most Indian restaurants. We ordered authentic dishes such Vada Pav and Pani Puri. Additionally, we ordered lamb chops and crab, which had an Indian touch to it. All of these dishes were delicious and I would highly recommend.
Anushka (☆ 5/5)

Good atmosphere, food average, ordered crab but could not eat, complained about it but nothing offered in exchange. Chicken was good. Waiter forgot about drinks order.
Natalia N (☆ 3/5)

Food, atmosphere and service was reasonable. Nothing to complain. I am sure they forgot our main course and we had to remind them twice to get it. We were also forced to order before 9:15 in the banner of kitchen closure while they continued to take orders past 10.

Customer Reviews
Visited for dinner and had a pleasant experience overall. The ambience is warm and inviting, creating a comfortable setting for a relaxed meal. While the space isn’t very large, it’s well-utilized and doesn’t feel cramped.
The service was above average – prompt and courteous, though there’s always a room for improvement. That said, the staff were genuinely warm and welcoming, which added to the overall positive vibe.
The food was flavourful and lived up to its reputation for authentic cuisine. However, if you prefer your dishes on the spicier side, it’s a good idea to mention that while ordering, as the default spice level leans towards mild.
One downside was the lack of a high chair for kids, which could be inconvenient for families with toddlers.
All in all, they offer a satisfying dining experience with good food and a cozy atmosphere. Worth a visit for those looking to explore traditional flavours in a comfortable setting.
Jayesh Dalvi (☆ 4/5)

A beautiful vibe/atmosphere, fantastic and friendly hosts, and amazing food. Couldn’t have asked for more.
Honestly, one of the few Indian food places, where I feel you can taste the authenticity; Home away from home experience.
Parakh (☆ 5/5)

Excellent staff and atmosphere, the place was extremely popular and the staff were excellent, some of the best.
The food was okay, better than most Indians but just didn’t quite hit the spot, at least for someone who has enjoyed Indian food for over 30 years. I’ve eaten Indian food in UK, Sweden, Norway, NZ, Viet Nam, and 7 countries in Africa; in Tanzania I was cooked for by the same chef who cooked for the visiting Indian Prime Minister.
I tend to like heavy, deep flavours, the flavours here were very subtle, a wide variety but to me lacked depth.
The jira poppadoms and accompanying dips were excellent. The sheesh kebabs, although having had good flavours were ‘mushy’, lacking texture, like a vegan sausage.
The rogan josh was what lacked depth. Rogan josh is usually a deep brown colour with a rich, deep flavour; this one was almost red in colour and had a wide variety of flavours but lacked depth. The lamb was tender and done perfectly.
It could be a style of Indian cooking I’m unfamiliar with.
The Raviz in CBD is closer to my style.
I would certainly consider returning and encourage anyone in the area to try this place.
One thing that didn’t help was the high price; 2 starters, 2 curries, 1 naan and 4 drinks came to over 200NZD, the most expensive Indian I’ve ever had.
Worth a visit if you are in the area and don’t mi d the expense.
Richard Burke (☆ 3/5)

Anand and his team are the best. So hospitable and generous. Absolutely delicious. No wonder they’ve been in business over 32 years!
Lucy Frater (☆ 5/5)

Only one thing needs to be said after eating here. Take my money. The flavours are intense and deep and complex. They are authentic. The food is absolutely top drawer. By far the best curry I have had in NZ.
Rob Fowler (☆ 5/5)

The ambience and decor is lovely here but the dishes lacked flavour. The spices in the dishes were very subtle. The papadums were yummy though. The service was hit and miss depending on who the server was
Bonnie (☆ 3/5)

Where do I begin, this place has got to be the one of the best Indian restaurants I have been too. It is also the perfect restaurant for date night and families as well as for coworkers. Their naan was one of the best being crunchy and chewy and just splendidly pleasant with the curry. The lamb curry was so savoury and delicious and the butter chicken was also very nice. 10/10 would definitely come back for more.

Customer Reviews
Firstly, I am impressed by the ambience and the nicely decorated walls and ceiling. They even have the plow cart at the entrance.
Secondly, the food was delicious with good presentation. Their chicken tandoori starter was super yummy and the meat was tender. I loved everything especially with the coconut rice and naan.
Karan, the cocktail expert, served us 3 wonderful drinks, which were all amazing!
Prices are a bit higher but the quality is topnotch. Worth paying for it. I will definitely return here with other friends and family.
Gleeko Magpoc (☆ 5/5)

Definitely our favourite Indian restaurant. The service impeccable, the staff are just great friendly and helpful, they know their food, the food is outstanding and the atmosphere pleasant and warm. From start to finish the experience is spot on. Tonight we had the Gol Gapa, Gilafi Seekh Kebab, Lamb Madeas and the waiter surprised me with a traditional chicken curry that’s not on the menu, and holy moly! It was outstanding! I don’t know how these guys make the sauces that accompany some of the dishes but they are A-MAZING!!! The chilli the sweetness, everything is perfectly balanced.
I can’t rave enough about the food here. If you want a great Indian experience with amazing service go and see these guys.
Tania Ilievska (☆ 5/5)

I visited this place for a business lunch with my team today, and it was a fantastic experience. The cost was $49 per person for a three-course meal, and the portions were generous. We all had a great time!
The curries were outstanding, and they thoughtfully adjusted the menu to accommodate our vegetarian team member. The starters were delicious, especially the skewered chicken and the unique snacks with sauce – I can’t remember their names, but they were a highlight. For the main course, we sampled five different curries, and with eight of us, we were able to try all the options on the menu. Desserts were equally impressive.
The service was excellent, and the food was amazing. Highly recommended!
Michael Kang (☆ 5/5)

Absolutely Disgusting Experience – Never Again!
Some places truly don’t deserve a second chance. The first time I ordered takeout, I found multiple animal hairs in my lamb curry—completely unacceptable and revolting. The manager was apologetic at the time and gave me a $50 voucher as compensation, so I decided to give them another shot. Big mistake.
I went back and placed a $119 takeaway order, expecting at least a decent experience this time. What I got instead was tasteless, smelly food that was beyond disappointing. The so-called butter chicken was especially offensive—before my order, the manager told me it would be made with pre-cooked chicken. What I received was bland, boiled, white chicken dumped in sauce—nothing like what butter chicken should be.
Most of the food was inedible and ended up in the bin. The experience was not only a complete waste of money, but also a huge letdown in terms of quality and integrity.
I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. They clearly haven’t learned from their mistakes. Absolutely unacceptable.
Heena Basnet (☆ 1/5)

One of the best authentic indian restaurant at Auckland. Anyone would fall in love with place and the ambience.
hardik thakor (☆ 5/5)

Been back today for my birthday. My friends and family were all impressed by the selection of food owner Dimple specially organized for us. Thank you Dimple and your great crew!
Always great authentic Indian food. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Great ambiance and decor. Has kept their standards A+. Highly recommendable. Always the place we take visitors from overseas to.
Don Santamaria (☆ 5/5)

Came in a big group, we had the tasting menu, which was $70pp.
The night started with a bang, the Bullets were really good, then the Chicken Botti Tikka came and these 2 were amazing, I highly recommend it, except it was kind of hard to share the Chicken Tikka with 3 people. The first 2 items made a great first impressions but unfortunately I felt that’s where the high ended and when the main came out it kind of fizzled out.
We had the Butter Chicken, Lamb Saagwala, Balti Dum Goat and Dhal. All the above tasted really good but unfortunately the curry lacked any meat. We had to share between 4 people at our table and we had enough for 1 meat each from each of the mains.
The garlic naan looked good, full of garlic but couldn’t taste it. Not sure if this is a good thing or not but once again the Naan was nice but just disappointed I couldn’t taste any garlic taste with the amount of garlic they sprinkled on the naan.
Overall food was tasty, service was great (except the place could do with more light, I get ambience but it was just too dark for my liking). Disappointed with the serving content of the mains, one piece of meat each to share between 4 people is not great!
Was it worth the $70pp price tag? No
Ordering a la carte instead of a set menu may be a better option next time.

Food was amazing. Fresh and full of flavour. The goat briyani was amazing – soft briyani rice packed with the flavours of the tender soft meat and masalas + it was an unlimited briyani thali offering that made it even better.
Service was phenomenal too – we arrived near closing to dine in but the staff never rushed us and told us to just enjoy our food.
Jayaraj Dirilokaraj (☆ 5/5)

I have visited Sahana Restaurant a few times, but my last experience was extremely disappointing. Despite there being fewer than four occupied tables, the staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. It took them 20 minutes to serve idlis at a South Indian restaurant, which was unexpected. The chicken lollipops were poorly prepared, with a thick fritter-like coating that looked unappetizing.
When we requested extra sambhar for our three idlis, we were told we would have to pay extra, which felt unreasonable. The manager was not only rude but also visibly exhausted, likely due to the lack of staff. One person was juggling Uber orders over the phone while also serving customers in the restaurant, which only added to the chaos.
Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. The food quality was far below what I had enjoyed on previous visits, and the service left much to be desired.
Palak Matharu (☆ 2/5)

Recently we ordered south Indian food for a birthday party. Extraordinary food was served. Food was delicious. Lot of curries was given than expected. All people were mesmerized by the food and enquired about the food. If you want authentic south Indian food , no second option go for Sahana in Auckland.
Chidambarathanu Thanu NZ (☆ 5/5)

Tried their new addition ‘Unlimited Biryani Thali’ and truly enjoyed it. This includes dal, rice, rasam, chicken 65 and omelette along with biryani. It was worth the spend and definitely love to go back and taste again.
Hishmitha Shetty (☆ 5/5)

Incredible Experience at Sahana!
We recently ordered a large spread of food for our office from Sahana, and I can’t rave enough about how amazing everything was! From the moment we opened the boxes, it was clear that we were in for a treat. The dishes were bursting with flavor, and each one was crafted to perfection. The variety of options was fantastic, offering something for everyone. Whether it was the rich, aromatic curries, the perfectly spiced biryanis, or the deliciously tender tandoori dishes, everything was simply outstanding.
Not only was the food top-notch, but the service was also exceptional. Our order was handled with care, and everything arrived fresh and on time. It’s no surprise that everyone in the office was raving about the meal – Sahana truly knows how to deliver a memorable dining experience.
We will definitely be ordering from Sahana again for our next big event. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy authentic, mouthwatering Indian food that will leave everyone craving more!
Phenomenal 0187 (☆ 5/5)

We had such a lovely experience at Sahana! The owner was so kind, friendly, and helpful. We didn’t know what to get and he helped us select the best food items that were absolutely delicious! We will never forget our experience here.
Kimi Gerardi (☆ 5/5)

First time today for us, we found Sahana just by searching in Google for a new place to try.
We were not disappointed, we were told food might take a while but we didn’t even notice the time pass us by as wel were enjoying ourselves.
The wait staff were very polite and helpful, the food arrived and presented well, the most important fact is it all tasted great. The spice levels were more on the mild side but still food was flavourful and we will definitely be back to try more from the menu again.
A great night out

Nice little place great hosts and very flavoursome. Lamb Rogan Josh, chicken Garlic balti and garlic naan.
Both mains came with rice and we had a glass of wine and a margarita each.
Decent wines and a strong margarita.
stukershaw (☆ 4/5)

Very delicious with very filling portions!!
The Samosas are a must!
I’m not a fan of super spicy food and their low spice level is very good!
Highly recommend!!
Zach Friendly (☆ 4/5)

One of the best curries I’ve had. You just don’t get Indian food this good down in Sydney and I generally don’t leave reviews unless blown away.
I got the the Spice Club Special with Lamb with a Spicy spice level. Usually I shy away from the Spicy level cause it’s too hot and it kills the flavour. But this was simply perfect. 10/10
Shoan Desai (☆ 5/5)

Tried this restaurant through the first table app, which got 50% off all food! I Highly recommend. The food, staff and atmosphere was perfect. Had plenty leftovers and flavours were great.
Em Kane (☆ 5/5)

The food here was excellent, and the service was very good as well. Our server was very kind and helpful. I got the Dal Makhani with rice at medium heat. My husband got the Spice Club Special with Lamb. Both come with a side of ride and we also got garlic naan to share. The food was amazing!! Absolutely recommend to anyone in the area.
Samantha Nymberg (☆ 5/5)

Spice Club on Beach Road, just off Quay Street, is a true Auckland gem! Their chicken biryani is, without a doubt, the most authentic I’ve tasted in the entire city. The flavors were incredible – a truly mouthwatering experience that tantalized my taste buds. The atmosphere was excellent, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. And to top it all off, the price was incredibly reasonable. Highly recommend!

I love this place so much! The food is authentically delicious, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I felt bad when we last dined because we didn’t realize that they were closing for the afternoon! But the lady that served us was accommodating
The food was splendid and the Naan bread was freshly cooked. I can’t get enough of this restaurant. Will definitely be back for our family dinner and or date night.
Thank you

I highly recommend this place! The food is great, tastes fresh, and flavorful! The day I went, on Monday they had an especial! I only paid $30 dollars for 2 people!! The lady in the front of the restaurant is very nice. And the Chef is very nice as well. The atmosphere is really peaceful, and very much enjoyed the food and the time here ! Thank you so much for!

I has dal makhani, which is my normal go-to order and it was delicious! The lunch special is great value. The staff were very kind and served us even though we unknowingly walked in for lunch just before they closed (although I would highly discourage anybody else from doing that). Great food, wonderful staff, and will be back to try more of the menu!

This is a small restaurant which, to me, adds the attraction. The food was to die for and reasonably priced. The waiter was great and we did wait long for the food. Highly recommend the delightful restaurant. Worth every star.
Derrick Hodgson (☆ 5/5)

Great food, caring host. Although it was a new setup for brunch, and a Easter weekend, not lot of staff, but they managed with great energy and passion. Although the chhole were bit over salted, I will still give them another visit.
Emm Dee (☆ 5/5)

Most delicious food ever! Lovely service and beautiful atmosphere.
The prices are absolutely fair.
We are definitely going to be back !
Kennice Darkwa (☆ 5/5)

This is by far the worst Indian takeaway we’ve ever ordered from. The food was incredibly disappointing—overly oily, lacking in meat, and the portion sizes were far too small. We ordered butter chicken, a lamb curry, and 4 naan breads for $84 and the naan was so hard it was impossible to bite into. It felt like a complete rip-off. Save your money and avoid this place. Instead, try Paradise Takeaway—they offer generous portions and much better-tasting food.

We felt like Indian food the other night and discovered this place was here when looking for something nearby. We had never heard of this place before. We were very happy with the food and the service was great. Very friendly staff. I’ll definitely be back!

Customer Reviews
I visited with my family for dinner. The starters were fantastic, offering an authentic Indian taste, and the paneer tandoori was incredibly soft. The main course was great as well. However, the only downside was the Schezwan noodles, which were too spicy. If you decide to order them, make sure to consider the spice level.
Kumar S (☆ 5/5)

Our work group had been here for dinner. We had quite a few dishes. Malai chicken, seekh kebab, samosa chaat, goat curry, beef makhani, beef vindaloo, garlic naan and cheese naan. Every dish was so tasty and flavourful and had the right amount of spices. We will definitely be back.
Charles Misquitta (☆ 5/5)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taste of India in Mount Eden, and it was a truly delightful experience from start to finish. If you’re looking for authentic Indian flavors and a memorable meal, this restaurant should definitely be on your radar.
For my starter, I opted for the Malai Kabab Chicken, and it was an absolute revelation. The chicken was incredibly tender, marinated to perfection with a delicate creaminess that simply melted in the mouth. It set a high bar for the rest of the meal, and Taste of India certainly delivered.
For my main course, I chose the Paneer Lababdar paired with a fresh, warm Garlic Naan. The Paneer Lababdar was a symphony of flavors – rich, creamy, and subtly spiced, with perfectly cooked paneer cubes. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into their gravies, as this dish was incredibly satisfying and comforting. The Garlic Naan was the ideal accompaniment, fluffy with just the right hint of garlic, perfect for scooping up every last bit of the delicious curry.
Throughout my meal, the service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. Taste of India has clearly mastered the art of traditional Indian cuisine, offering dishes that are both authentic and incredibly flavorful.
I highly recommend Taste of India in Mount Eden for anyone craving an exceptional Indian dining experience. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to explore more of their enticing menu! ❤️
dipesh rishi (☆ 5/5)

One of the best Indian restaurants I ve eaten in lately. Their egg fried rice and paneer curries were drool worthy. The food was reasonably priced and was excellent.

I had a fantastic experience at Taste Of India Mt Eden yesterday. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was top-notch—the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout. Their knowledge of the menu and genuine hospitality made the visit even more enjoyable.
I ordered the Kadhai Paneer with Garlic Naan, and it was absolutely divine. The paneer was fresh and perfectly spiced, with a rich, aromatic gravy bursting with authentic Indian flavors. The garlic naan was soft, fluffy, and generously topped—ideal for scooping up every bit of the delicious curry. The presentation was vibrant and appealing, adding to the dining experience.
What truly sets this place apart is the consistency and care in both their food and service. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine with exceptional service. I’ll definitely be returning!
Shreeji Patel (☆ 5/5)

Went there for dinner. Amazing food and service. Value for money as taste and quantity is perfect! Our server Vedanki ( apologies if pronounced name wrong ) was great, kind, ready to assist. Great staff and manager on shift. Definitely recommend 10/10
Pulkit Aggarwal (The Ace) (☆ 5/5)

I had the most horrible experience with the food I received. I was utterly disappointed with my order. The lamb meat was extremely tough, and the flavour was so off it felt like I was eating raw lamb in a sauce made of whole peeled tomatoes. There was no real taste just an overwhelming amount of spice that completely ruined my appetite.
The spicy chicken curry, on the other hand, was drowning in oil and overloaded with chili, with no other flavour at all. I paid over $50 for these two dishes, and both were absolutely terrible.
For a restaurant with the word “Taste” in its name, the food had none. I’m very disappointed.

Good service and quiet restaurant. I’m a regular there. Often takeaway Cheese Garlic Naah, that’s my favorite. It will be well-packed and cut into pieces as I requested. Highly recommend. Also, Lamb Curry is my must have if I dine-in.

Loved the food and the music.
We had their special PANEER Angara and Daal Tadka, Pani Puri, Mushroom starter which came perfectly roasted (never experienced such perfectly cooking with either raw overcooked being my prior experiences).
Thank you, Maulick and team and wishing you and the team the very best for your new Papatoetoe branch. Cheers

“One way ticket to Bhojan plz! And make it snappy!”
From the second we entered this beautifully appointed hidden gem, we were taken care of with utmost care. We were quickly seated, table set with a request for what refreshments we’d like – 2 kingfisher, 1 hazy and a crisp glass of Savvy b. No more than 2 minutes later our drinks were flying from the bar to our spacious table of 4. For starters the table got 2 servings of sev puri and some complimentary poppadoms. For mains an assortment of vegetarian and chicken based curries – all EXCEPTIONAL! The ease of everything from seating to service had conversations flowing, drinks drunken and a night we wouldn’t change for anything!
Bhojan – WE WILL BE BACK!
Josh Aoraki (☆ 5/5)

Tasty food! The chefs special chicken curry was amazing. Naan is smaller than other places and more crispy keep that in mind when ordering
Veena Paul (☆ 4/5)

Undoubtedly one of the better Indian restaurants in Auckland. I visited with my family, and though the restaurant was full and short-staffed due to someone possibly being on leave, the slow service was more than made up for by the amazing starters.
The Hara Bhara Kebab and Haryaki Paneer Tikka were particularly delicious. For the main course, we tried the Chef’s Special Paneer and Paneer Methi Matar, both of which were tasty.
The biryani was also fantastic. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to others.

We were really craving an authentic Kerala dining experience, and Salt Mango Tree absolutely delivered! The warm and cozy atmosphere instantly made us feel at home, and the food was exceptional. We especially loved the Beef Fry, Chicken Kondaattam, Chicken Roast, Kerala Fish Curry Meals, and Porotta — each dish was rich in flavor and truly reminded us of home-style cooking.
The snacks (chicken roll, chicken and beef cutlets, and egg puffs) were decent but didn’t quite match the excellence of the mains.
The ambience is lovely, and the hospitality was great throughout. It’s in a convenient location, though parking could be tricky during peak hours.
Overall, a must-visit for anyone wanting an authentic Kerala food experience in a warm setting!
Sajin Kannanchery (☆ 5/5)

Had a delicious meal here with the family. Some real outstanding examples of South Indian Cuisine on offer.
The Kerala Porrata is one of the best bread courses in Auckland right now.
I highly recommend the Fish Pollichathu, Pork Roast, Beef Roast, Angamaly Pork Fry & Appam.
I look forward to returning to try out more of the menu and suggest that you dine in with friends and family

Had an amazing experience at Salt Mango Tree in Auckland! The food was incredibly authentic, bringing back the true flavors of Kerala. From the Nool Porotta and Beef fry to the Appam and Duck Roast, each and every item from their menu were absolutely mouth-watering. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were exceptionally friendly.
The magic is that they are able to successfully main the same taste and aroma of their Hamilton counterpart, which we often visit on our road trips via Hamilton. Their new Auckland venture has brought the tastes of Kerala to satisfy the cravings of Aucklanders.
Highly recommend this spot to anyone craving genuine SouthIndian Kerala cuisine.

Restaurant SMT in Auckland is a great place for lunch or dinner in my opinion. Although the menu is not on the expensive side, the quality and taste of the food are absolutely amazing. I went for lunch and ordered a variety of dishes: chicken roast , Nool Porotta, Appam, Duck Roast, Trivandrum Style Chicken Roast, , and Sulaimani. Overall, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Since we were a group of four, we got to try a wide variety of items. The menu is extensive, so it’s better to go with a larger group to fully enjoy the offerings.
Evin & Ann were our servers, and they were fantastic. My personal favorite dish was the beef it was superb! The Appam and Nool Porotta were also excellent. The chicken Biryani, however, wasn’t to my liking and I wouldn’t personally recommend it. The Sulaimani served at the end was really refreshing, priced at $4for a single cup. The chilli chicken was also a standout, especially the gravy, which went perfectly with the Porotta.
Hiran Jose (☆ 5/5)

Absolutely loved the food here! The Kerala Porota was perfectly flaky, the Appam soft and fluffy, and the Pork Roast was rich, spicy, and packed with authentic Kerala flavors. The ambience was warm and inviting—perfect for a relaxed meal. Great service too.
Rejoice Thomas (☆ 5/5)

The ambience was nice. The service was great. The food was ok.
We ordered fish pollichathu, a fish curry, porotta and appam.
The wait time was around 20 minutes.
The appam was tasty and fish pollichathu had exquisite flavour.
The fish curry and porotta missed the mark. The fish curry tasted like uncooked chilli power and porotta was not crispy. It seemed like someone who was learning to make porotta, cooked it. It had a greater thickness variance than the tar seal on the expressway from Auckland to Hamilton. This made it crispy in some areas and soggy in others – lots of room for improvement.
The free papadom we received was a generous gesture from the restaurant. However, it had been exposed to humidity, making it soft and undesirable.
Overall, we will return. Sometimes, even with our own cooking, there are contrasting differences.
