Customer Reviews
I love the concept and aesthetic of this place.
We actually went twice in the same day.
The first time, I asked for something inspired by a White Russian—nothing too specific, as I wanted to give the bartender some creative freedom. Unfortunately, I was served a classic White Russian without any special twist, which was a bit disappointing considering the price. To be fair, half of the menu wasn’t available either. It wasn’t a terrible experience, just underwhelming.
A couple of hours later, we decided to come back and this time we sat at the bar. We had the chance to speak directly with one of the bartenders, Lock , and the experience completely changed. He listened carefully to what we were looking for and absolutely nailed it—delivering not only a delicious cocktail but a truly enjoyable moment as well.
Watching him work was fun, engaging, and—honestly—a little sexy, which kind of fits the whole vibe of the place.
I’ll definitely be back!
Isabel Maldonado (☆ 4/5)

What a fantastic place!
I love the concept, and the vibe inside was dark, brooding and prohibition-esque. A no-menus place where the server asks you questions to find out what you like and they whip something up for you.
The place was humming, with empty tables not staying empty long. The service was really great… we were apologised to twice for having to wait for someone to see us, but it wasn’t that long at all.
The 2 cocktails we had were exactly down our alley, so they know what they’re doing.
We explained to one guy as we were paying that we were doing like a low key crawl to cool spots, and he provided some suggestions, which was nice. Would definitely return. Bring some coin though, at $24 per drink it’s up there, but think of it as a show too!
Ben Wendelborn (☆ 5/5)

No menu. Friendly and knowledgeable server has a conversation with you about what drinks you like and the mixologist whips up something that is out of this world. Atmosphere is relaxed and conducive to conversation. If you’re a fan of speakeasy’s, this place is for you.
Steve Walker (☆ 5/5)

I really wish I could like and enjoy this place but not somewhere you want to go for a few drinks or cocktails.
The place looks great and great concept and love the drinks. Just doesn’t work. The serving is very slow and what seems like hard work. You can’t even order 2 drinks at a time maybe as that will make them even slower. Great table service just as they do not have a menu they ask you what you like and conk a drink to your taste. It may be a better idea to have menus to speed drinks up. Not sure 30 mins is acceptable anywhere waiting for a drink and only one at a time.
Was well worth a visit but only for one drink as not sure you will enjoy the wait. Maybe it’s the New Zealand way of things.
Steve Quinn (☆ 1/5)

We recently visited this Hidden Bar and had an amazing experience! The atmosphere was lively, and the vibe was just perfect for a fun night out. What made it truly special was the absence of a menu — the bartenders crafted superb drinks based on our preferences and mood. Each one was a delightful surprise!
The staff were incredibly skilled and experienced, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. The live music added a wonderful touch, creating a vibrant and enjoyable ambiance throughout the night.
If they start offering some deals or specials, it would make the place even more exciting. But overall, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a unique and memorable evening.
Santu Garage Limited (☆ 5/5)

Being an experienced bartender my expectations were quite high, and this place hit them and more. The bartenders are so creative and knowledgeable about flavours and the atmosphere is lovely. Will be returning!
Alex Millar (☆ 5/5)

Love the atmosphere, they asked a lot about the drinks you want but ended up delivering cocktails same ….. still delicious even thought not to what we asked for.
Drinks come at least 10 if not 15 mins after ordered.

Customer Reviews
If youre looking for some top notch food, great night life, or just a night out of fun, this is a really cool place to check out. All of the staff were very friendly and would stop around early so often to make sure I had what I needed. You can watch all your food get cooked, depending on where you sit as well. The margarita pizza was pack full of flavor along with the cevetchie.
Jake (☆ 5/5)

Great location and waitress camille was super lovely, she gave great service (would def be only a 3 star review if not for her) . Good place for a drink. I didn’t enjoy the food much, pizza average. First one came out with the chicken cold in the middle, impressed at how they fixed this promptly and was better second time around but unfortunately overall not a great tasting pizza. I saw someone else order a burger and that looked much nicer.
They advertise their app everywhere so downloaded as it promises $10 credit, however this is only if you order via the app. Do not bother if you’ve already placed an order as they are not able to link your order with the app (outdated system for sure as just next door at rosie’s they encourage you to use their app and no problems to use after you’ve ordered).
Crystal (☆ 4/5)

Stopped here within an hour of getting to town. Great deck with view, place was packed in part due to a private party. Bar staff extremely attentive. My Veggie Bliss Bowl (plus chicken) was tasty.
Only negative was the annoying music with the extremely repetitive beat that just wouldn’t stop! To be fair, I don’t think it started playing until 8:00 p.m.
Probably will visit again before heading back to Sydney.
Steve S (☆ 4/5)

Had a great time at Dr Rudi’s! The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and the rooftop terrace is such a cool spot with amazing views. One of the best parts is that you can play bowling with your friends for free, which makes the whole experience even more fun. But what really made it special was the service from Udi — super friendly, attentive, and truly personalized. You can tell he genuinely cares about making sure everyone has a great time. Would definitely come back!
isi molina allende (☆ 5/5)

Booked a table here for a catch up with friends on a Saturday afternoon. I’d recommend booking in advance as tables always get snapped up because who doesn’t love a rooftop on a sunny day. Best spot is on the deck area – enjoy the view with a beverage or three and some nibbles. The menu was okay but we just wanted some light nibbles and ordered the cheese pizza, calamari and the cheese board. Would get the cheese board again for sure. For dinks, I had my usual (CC&Dry with no ice). I used the QR to place all my orders which is quite handy and does have a field for customisations/notes. Music got a bit boring in the end so my friends and I left. Stools are quite uncomfortable but that’s the story with all stool seating. Wait staff are very nice and the location is excellent.
Rachel Spencer (☆ 4/5)

Located upstairs via the escalators from the Viaduct area or via the pedestrian bridge straight from downtown carpark side. Great views and atmosphere. Good selection of food and drinks. They have large tables too for big groups as well, so popular on any day of the week

Looking for a place to eat and Brew on Quay caught my eye as we passed on the bus.
We walked back and were not disappointed. The staff was great and the food was tasty.
I had the beef meat pie and it was wonderful. The meat was tender and very flavorful and the top crust was light and flaky.
I paired that with a local stout and I was in heaven.
Our meal and drinks were reasonably priced, but the staff made dining here very pleasant. They were patient in answering our questions and made us feel very welcomed.
Seek out this place for a relaxing good time.
Kenneth Ventura (☆ 5/5)

Amazing staff! Such great people. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional and bringing the chill vibes. The range of drinks is outstanding- great pints and they even have our fav; Morning Cider. The building is beautiful – old world solid wood with plenty of intriguing curiosities gracing the walls. There are cozy spots hidden all round the venue so it can feel intimate even when crowded. Decent food – we weren’t big fans of the wings ‘cause we like them classic-style with crispy skin, but we’re from London so we get picky when it comes to fried chicken, these are American Buffalo style as stated on the menu. This is, however, the best pub on the waterfront. We go here whenever we’re doing a shoot in town and the team are brilliant hosts. Thanks guys!
Syd Eats (☆ 5/5)

We were a party of 6 and wanted a quiet area to talk. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We were placed in a semi private area which was perfect for us. Visually interesting. The staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly. The food very tasty with generous portions. The drinks selection was impressive. Highly recommend this place. Thank you for a great evening.
Gary Brooking (☆ 5/5)

A good place for a beer stop! Great beer selection, the building itself is interesting to look at, seems rather historic…for Auckland! Staff were friendly but standoff-ish. Have come across more lively atmospheres but potentially came in during a lull. Overall not a bad spot! Thanks for the tasty beer!
Ash (☆ 5/5)

Great bar with good selection of beers and very friendly courteous staff who often go out of their way to help and ensure you have a good time. Food is pretty good and chicken parmigiana will keep you going for days recommended and we will be back.
Malachy McGarrigle (☆ 4/5)

This place looks amazing. An old police station with gorgeous wood and cozy little corners and divided rooms left over from the previous use. Great staff. Nice outside seating. Cozy little elevated outside spot at the back.

Customer Reviews
Hands down this is one of my favorite spots in all of Auckland. Everyone here is super friendly with incredible vibes, fantastic bartenders, great locally sourced beers, and yummy cocktails. Location is a plus with fantastic views from the rooftop on a sunny clear and breezy summer day. This was my first time in New Zealand visiting from the US and I would highly recommend this bar to everyone looking for a good chill spot to lounge and meet new people. I loved it so much I stopped in for drinks several times while walking throughout this beautiful city. Great food selection nearby too!
Eric Lavender (☆ 5/5)

Called in here for a cold pint of Guinness $15 on this hot hump day 22 January 2025. Got a stine glass from this joint years ago lol. Great Pub.
David Purvis (☆ 5/5)

Nice little pub with friendly staff. I’d say it’s a great choice for a quick catch up with your mates over a few beers. There’s also a pool table for $2 a game upstairs which was also fun
Riley Swanson (☆ 4/5)

Ordered Guinness on tap and sat outside people watch.
Scary incident when a guy walked in, talking nonsense and acted weird. Bartender called police and it took some time for the man to finally reluctantly leave.
I was uncomfortable when the matter unfolded but admired how calm and stern the staff was. She handled the situation professionally.
Other than this crazy episode, The Fiddler was a cool place to have drinks and hang out. There’s even a second floor open air area, perfect for a good weather day.
Will recommend.

The team are extremely welcoming, there’s an awesome deck area upstairs, and great live music on the weekend. The locals are also very friendly and a couple of them are extremely hilarious. I highly recommend; best bar in Auckland. The bar is also just the right height for taking a nap on after a busy day.

I went to a team lunch, and it turned out to be pretty nice. I had a delicious cheeseburger and it seems like a fun spot to catch a game—you can really feel the energy there. The staff were super friendly, and the place was clean. Getting a table was easy, though it can get a bit busy in the evenings.
Augustine Tea (☆ 5/5)

Four of us dined at The Fox Lindon Pub, drawn in by the enticing roast dinner advertised at the entrance. Unfortunately, we arrived at 7pm to find the roasts had sold out – a significant disappointment given our primary reason for choosing this restaurant. However, this setback didn’t overshadow the rest of our experience. The service was friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the food we did order was excellent. While the sold-out roasts were a letdown, the overall quality of food and service, coupled with the great atmosphere, made for a lovely evening. We’d definitely return, perhaps arriving earlier to secure a roast next time!
Amanda Swanepoel (☆ 4/5)

English Pub. Very cool.
Carolyn Wing (☆ 5/5)

I’ll admit, I’ve never been much of a pub enthusiast. My past experiences with pub food have been less than stellar, and the thought of having lunch surrounded by boisterous sports fans with drinks in hand isn’t exactly my idea of a good time. But this pub? It completely shattered my expectations—in the best way possible!!
From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the welcoming and laid-back vibe. It didn’t feel like the typical loud, sports-centric pub. Instead, it had a cool, relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to settle in and enjoy.
The food was the real highlight. My Coronation Chicken Salad arrived promptly, and let me tell you—it was a game-changer. The portion was generous, the ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were incredibly well-balanced. It was one of the most satisfying salads I’ve had in a long time–really yummy!
It wasn’t the cheapest meal at around $30, but the quality and taste made it worth it.
The friendly and attentive staff added to the experience, ensuring everything ran smoothly and making me feel genuinely looked after.
If you’re like me and hesitant about pubs, I highly recommend giving this one a chance. It might just change your perspective, too!
William Ericsson Eulatth Vidal (☆ 5/5)

So many restaurants to choose from but very glad we ended up here. The chicken, brie and truffle pie was the most delicious meal I’ve had travelling around NZ in the last three weeks.
Kessie (☆ 5/5)

Had no idea that this place existed. Well worth dropping in and having a bite to eat and a drink. Very reasonable prices and good serving sizes. I would almost call it a gem of the area when you consider all the other expensive places around it.
Richard Surkus (☆ 5/5)

“Best view on Karangahape Strip!” An exciting and thrilling night! Definitely will be a night to remember. 100% would recommend to anyone trying to plan a Birthday/anniversary or just to switch up the average date night! Everything is amazing! Thank you to all the beautiful Ladies & Men who provided us with an amazing night.

Amazing night! The queens were side-splittingly funny and so welcoming. Food was incredible and the drinks were insanely good. Can’t recommend a night here enough – Big Daddy
James Solomon (☆ 5/5)

We had the best night! Great atmosphere, awesome entertainment and good food and drinks! We got super lucky with both Kita and Anita there too, so super stoked about that! Can’t wait to go back again! Highly recommend for a night full of fun and laughs A+
Felicity Ewins (☆ 5/5)

What a night. From the minute the doors open till you leave you will be laughing! Was such a fabulous night. Dinner devine and the queens really look after you & entertain the hell out of ya. If you want to have some belly laughs go & see this show. You will not be dissappointed!
Karen Raggett (☆ 5/5)

We had a ladies night and thoroughly enjoyed it! We booked well in advance, the venue is small and I imagine gets booked out really quickly. Be prepared to book a few months in advance. The show was very well organised!! There wasn’t a moment where we were ‘waiting’. The performers had amazing costume changes, awesome dance routines and there was an opportunity for photos. The food was good! There was chicken, lamb and veg options and everyone enjoyed their meal – lamb fell off the bone!! But just remember you’re not going for the food, so don’t expect a master chef meal. We arrived at 7pm and walked out at about 11.30pm so it’s a full evening event.
We paid $20 per person deposit, then $99 each a couple weeks before. This cost included the show and food, you have to pay for drinks at the end of the evening. You need a credit card to open a tab for the table. Downside: The tables were very squashy, we had 5 people on one side of the table that should’ve been 4 people, but we made it work.
Overall, we had a fantastic evening!! I would definitely go again!!
Lauren Ladewig (☆ 5/5)

Booked a hens night and what an experience! Full house, lots of laughs, delicious food and the best entertainment!! The atmosphere was amazing. There were many different groups, but these ladies made us all come together and cheer for one another like we were one big family! Don’t hesitate to book, I can promise you, they do not disappoint. Thankyou so much for having us, we will be back for more!
Gemma Leokava Taani (☆ 5/5)

Great Atmosphere, it’s everything I expected and heard it was, Super friendly bar staff but more importantly super friendly (and artistic) patrons. If you’re looking for an underground Art/Muso vibe then The Ding Dong Lounge is what you’re looking for!!

Amazing night out with live goth bands and amazing people to talk to. The security is a great team. Felt very safe and inclusive.
Slay Mantis (☆ 5/5)

Awesome venue where people are lively and nice good vibes. First time there for a battle of the band gigs and I must say I really enjoyed myself a lot !! However if I could change one thing the drinks were a tad expensive but that’s understandable places have to make money too if they’re not usually as busy.

Stopped in pretty early in the night on a Wednesday fighting jet lag and so glad we did – friendly staff and great patrons.

My favourite bar in Auckland, really nice bartenders and great music.
Update: returned again, still great! Cousin ordered the curly fries which were really nice
$8 house drinks 12-1 which was brilliant.
Staff are always friendly and helpful

A group of us came to NZ on a study abroad tour from America, and really wanted to go out on a Thursday night. We came across Ding on a whim and were given one of the most fun nights ever! The whole staff was extremely friendly and welcoming towards us, and the DJ was amazing. Danni Doll!! She is wonderful! Whole night allowed us to make song requests and we danced the night away. Our night here was definitely one I will never forget and made our trip to Auckland fantastic! Drinks were also very tasty. Highly recommend the Zombie Chew! ♀️♥️ Thank you guys! Love from America!!

Just had two beers so no opinion on food.
Their beer selection is fantastic whether guest taps or their own. Attentive service, enjoyed my conversation. The hazy IPAs were killer
Steve S (☆ 4/5)

Very lively pub with outdoor seatings.
Their West Coast IPA is the bomb. Love at first sip. I wish I can bring it back to my country
The garlic fries goes well with their beers!
Mari (☆ 5/5)

Luna Rodriguez (☆ 5/5)

THE AMAZING place to try various tap beer!!
I love this place!!!
The woman who served us was super kind and friendly!!!

Very nice little pub great welcome and fun atmosphere. Just a little confused if it’s a pub or micro brewery. Wish I could have got a better understanding.
Only concern I have is when watching how they poor a Guinness wasn’t the best or what was expected was very quick or maybe just a little too fast. I’m so glad didn’t visit with the Guinness professional as I know they won’t be happy.
Must say they have a Pie selection that looks great will be back for that not sure about the drinks but then again will try something else. I’m sure with the selection there is something you will like.
Can’t say I will be back this visit but nice pub
Steve Quinn (☆ 4/5)

Had a couple of beers and some beef jerky here—both were great!
The staff were friendly, and the beef jerky was especially delicious.
Perfect spot to relax and kill some time.

Customer Reviews
Caveat I worked in this place 30 years ago. The current owners have been in there for 15 years and they have created a great spot. If you are looking for a friendly local bar, for a decent beer, friendly service, interesting locals, in the heart of downtown Auckland. This is your spot. Recommended
Stephen Harris (☆ 4/5)

Place very good, yes! Cocktails very nice, look pretty and taste wow. Beer cold, many beer, all good. Staff people very kind, smile much, help quick quick. Me go with friend, we happy much. Music not big loud, we can talk no problem. We come back again, yes yes!
TCB (☆ 5/5)

Really good, cosy spot for a quick drink or an extended drink session with your mates. Love that they have mulled wine and port on the menu. They have an extensive selection of beers, wines and cocktails. Friendly and chatty service in a great location. We often go here for a drink before going to Mezze (just across the way) or for an after dinner tipple after dining at Mezze. I had a really strong but delish peanut butter cocktail. Can’t quite remember the name of it. Good location. Bartender is super nice!
Rachel Spencer (☆ 4/5)

Ekkehard Kohlund (☆ 5/5)

Having dined at Go Ramen on the evening of 13th June, we asked if they had any bar recommendations for few drinks afterwards. This one one of the suggestions, and being next door we thought we’d try it, despite it appearing mostly empty.
We went in and the bar area (for service) was fully occupied, with people who appeared to know the bar owners engaged in conversation. We were not acknowledged, so proceeded to have a quick bathroom stop prior to ordering drinks.
Upon leaving the bathrooms, a larger female on the customer side of the bar proceeded to bark orders to turn the lights off. This came across as extremely rude, and as a result we did not stick around. This individual appeared to have a serious attitude problem, and zero knowledge of customer service.
Do yourself a favour and avoid this place.

Walked in and right away we were greeted with some of the nicest and friendly bartenders. Very funny and attentive. Small inside and cozy. I’m glad we stopped in and they had good beer too!

We ordered the bluff oyster, which is seasonal, it’d be great if it’s a larger oyster a little bit disappointed in that for the price offered.
However, the drink are like always, exceptionally delicious atmosphere is nice and music is not too loud. It’s always one of the best places to go in my own preference✨

We had a fantastic night at the Churchill Gin Bar for a 40th celebration! From start to finish, the customer service was fabulous – the communication was excellent, and the staff were polite, friendly, and attentive. Special shoutout to Retam, Tom (waitstaff), and Tom (bartender), who went above and beyond to make the evening extra special.
The reserved area was perfect, creating the ideal atmosphere for our celebration. The food was tasty, drinks were superb and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend the Churchill Gin Bar for any event or just a great night out!

Great outdoor balcony for summer time drinks.
One of the nicer spots and better tasting cocktail drinks in the CBD.
The fries are a must order.
