Easy parking at Arena car park, great facilities. Lots of toilets. Lots of helpful stadium workers that can direct you to your seat. Wherever you sit, you always get a decent view. Been to many concerts and sporting events here and love it! Great asset to Auckland

Really enjoyed watching Mana Moana there. The atmosphere was awesome. The only thing was the seats, too close to each other in front and small in size. I could see people uncomfortable and having to stretch here and there to help their legs from hurting.

Awesome venue for shows. One security guard was quite pushy and judgmental, especially during showtimes. But it was quick and easy to get in and it was an excellent venue. Went to see Benson Boone for the first time ever. 12000 people In one place is mad but incredible

It is often a challenging venue for music concerts. Tonight’s Toto concert was let down by the Front-of-House Sound Engineer’s inability to work with the venue’s terrible acoustics. Bring earplugs as they try to counter poor sound quality with volume, drowning out the audio. Cross was slightly better, but his vocals were also low; at least the volume was not blasted. The venue itself is great for basketball, and the staff were good, but when the concert sound is bad, why bother?

I had a great experience at Spark Arena! The venue is spacious, modern, and very clean. The staff were incredibly helpful, especially in assisting my daughter with special needs, which made our visit stress-free.

Just a tip: arrive early for events, as parking can be difficult and costly. Consider getting dropped off, using public transport, or walking if possible. Overall, a fantastic venue worth visiting!

Customer Reviews
I love the concept and aesthetic of this place.

We actually went twice in the same day.

The first time, I asked for something inspired by a White Russian—nothing too specific, as I wanted to give the bartender some creative freedom. Unfortunately, I was served a classic White Russian without any special twist, which was a bit disappointing considering the price. To be fair, half of the menu wasn’t available either. It wasn’t a terrible experience, just underwhelming.

A couple of hours later, we decided to come back and this time we sat at the bar. We had the chance to speak directly with one of the bartenders, Lock , and the experience completely changed. He listened carefully to what we were looking for and absolutely nailed it—delivering not only a delicious cocktail but a truly enjoyable moment as well.

Watching him work was fun, engaging, and—honestly—a little sexy, which kind of fits the whole vibe of the place.

I’ll definitely be back!

What a fantastic place!
I love the concept, and the vibe inside was dark, brooding and prohibition-esque. A no-menus place where the server asks you questions to find out what you like and they whip something up for you.
The place was humming, with empty tables not staying empty long. The service was really great… we were apologised to twice for having to wait for someone to see us, but it wasn’t that long at all.
The 2 cocktails we had were exactly down our alley, so they know what they’re doing.
We explained to one guy as we were paying that we were doing like a low key crawl to cool spots, and he provided some suggestions, which was nice. Would definitely return. Bring some coin though, at $24 per drink it’s up there, but think of it as a show too!

No menu. Friendly and knowledgeable server has a conversation with you about what drinks you like and the mixologist whips up something that is out of this world. Atmosphere is relaxed and conducive to conversation. If you’re a fan of speakeasy’s, this place is for you.

I really wish I could like and enjoy this place but not somewhere you want to go for a few drinks or cocktails.
The place looks great and great concept and love the drinks. Just doesn’t work. The serving is very slow and what seems like hard work. You can’t even order 2 drinks at a time maybe as that will make them even slower. Great table service just as they do not have a menu they ask you what you like and conk a drink to your taste. It may be a better idea to have menus to speed drinks up. Not sure 30 mins is acceptable anywhere waiting for a drink and only one at a time.
Was well worth a visit but only for one drink as not sure you will enjoy the wait. Maybe it’s the New Zealand way of things.

We recently visited this Hidden Bar and had an amazing experience! The atmosphere was lively, and the vibe was just perfect for a fun night out. What made it truly special was the absence of a menu — the bartenders crafted superb drinks based on our preferences and mood. Each one was a delightful surprise!

The staff were incredibly skilled and experienced, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. The live music added a wonderful touch, creating a vibrant and enjoyable ambiance throughout the night.

If they start offering some deals or specials, it would make the place even more exciting. But overall, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a unique and memorable evening.

Be aware that the “anchovy dressing” on the Caesar salad has whole anchovies that aren’t blended like in normal Caesar dressing so it’s VERY fishy and unappetising, especially on top of huge, unchopped lettuce leaves including the thick and inedible stalk. Very poor for $28. Staff were nice and the restaurant is gorgeously decorated but the food was a let down, also got the potato skins but they were far too salty. Didn’t eat either dish and still paid full price because no one asked how it was or why I didn’t eat it. Wouldn’t recommend.

The Lula Inn is a tropical oasis that offers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. The vibrant decor and lively atmosphere immediately put me in a buzz. The cocktails were expertly crafted, and the food was bursting with flavor. But what truly stood out to me was the exceptional service, especially from Jordan. His sincerity and attention to detail made our evening even more special. He went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and made us feel like valued guests.

The Lula Inn is a must-visit, and Jordan’s outstanding service is the cherry on top!

Looking for a place to eat and Brew on Quay caught my eye as we passed on the bus.
We walked back and were not disappointed. The staff was great and the food was tasty.
I had the beef meat pie and it was wonderful. The meat was tender and very flavorful and the top crust was light and flaky.
I paired that with a local stout and I was in heaven.
Our meal and drinks were reasonably priced, but the staff made dining here very pleasant. They were patient in answering our questions and made us feel very welcomed.
Seek out this place for a relaxing good time.

Amazing staff! Such great people. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional and bringing the chill vibes. The range of drinks is outstanding- great pints and they even have our fav; Morning Cider. The building is beautiful – old world solid wood with plenty of intriguing curiosities gracing the walls. There are cozy spots hidden all round the venue so it can feel intimate even when crowded. Decent food – we weren’t big fans of the wings ‘cause we like them classic-style with crispy skin, but we’re from London so we get picky when it comes to fried chicken, these are American Buffalo style as stated on the menu. This is, however, the best pub on the waterfront. We go here whenever we’re doing a shoot in town and the team are brilliant hosts. Thanks guys!

A good place for a beer stop! Great beer selection, the building itself is interesting to look at, seems rather historic…for Auckland! Staff were friendly but standoff-ish. Very conveniently situated. Parked at Civic car park which is handy and well priced.
Went to see Fly My Pretties which was great. BUT. The ticketing system needs attention.
I booked my tickets a few weeks in advance and printed them off. Row C seats 23 and 24. On arriving at row C I found the seat numbers only went to 20. I asked the usher for help and she contacted someone on her ear piece. We were told 19 and 20 were our seats.
Today, after the show, I got an email which was a supposed copy of my original receipt with seats C19 and 20. What the heck? It’s like they’ve changed they original booking to make it appear it was my mistake.
Didn’t appreciate it, nor standing like a numpty waiting to have it resolved in the theatre.
(I did appreciate the young usher’s help, she was polite and dealt with the situation well) It’s a shame as the venue was great, as was the show.

This is an odd place – instructions are pretty unclear via email on if they accept digital tickets or if you need to pick them up at will call (there is no will call). The show we went to was “sold out” but had a lot of empty seats, many were reserved and no one ever sat in them. Theatre was also incredibly warm. And the show we attended was really odd.

I came here for my birthday with 2 people that I care about, the food was fantastic, the service was amazing and the staff are awesome.

Absolutely disappointing experience.
We had a reservation at Portland Public House to celebrate my friend’s birthday, but the evening turned out to be incredibly stressful. The ordering and reservation system seemed completely disorganized. We waited nearly an hour for our food, which never arrived, and during that time, a woman came over, stared at us, and told us that we were sitting at her reserved table—even though our reservation details were clearly displayed on the table. She and others came back multiple times, which made us feel very uncomfortable.

When we reached out to the staff and the manager for help, the solution offered was simply to move us to another table, without any explanation or apology. We eventually decided to leave. It was honestly a painful experience on what should have been a happy occasion.

While I didn’t get to try the food, the place seemed quite busy and popular—so perhaps they are capable of better. But I can’t help but wonder: were we treated this way because we were a smaller group? Or because we were one of the few Asian guests that evening? I sincerely hope that wasn’t the case.

We had a family function there an I’m surprised that we had to ask for extra suviettes, forks, spoons & between 17 people only had one jug of water no sure if that was brought out or asked for. No complaints about food, was pretty average.

I had ribs with chips & salad, ribs were peppery bbq almost like spicy but nice, chips were fine, but salad was bland. 6/10

My son had Karage chicken burger with chips he loved it rated it a 7/10. $18 + $4.5 for the chips

My niece had nachos she loved it, 8.5/10. $22

Partner had a beef burger he said there wasn’t anything great about it but said it was average. 7/10 $18 + $4.5 for the chips.

$25 for a jug of lemonade.

Over all the staff were very chirpy and nice.

Parked across the road for free parking.

Hands down this is one of my favorite spots in all of Auckland. Everyone here is super friendly with incredible vibes, fantastic bartenders, great locally sourced beers, and yummy cocktails. Location is a plus with fantastic views from the rooftop on a sunny clear and breezy summer day. This was my first time in New Zealand visiting from the US and I would highly recommend this bar to everyone looking for a good chill spot to lounge and meet new people. I loved it so much I stopped in for drinks several times while walking throughout this beautiful city. Great food selection nearby too!

Called in here for a cold pint of Guinness $15 on this hot hump day 22 January 2025. Got a stine glass from this joint years ago lol. Great Pub.

Nice little pub with friendly staff. I’d say it’s a great choice for a quick catch up with your mates over a few beers. There’s also a pool table for $2 a game upstairs which was also fun

Ordered Guinness on tap and sat outside people watch.

Scary incident when a guy walked in, talking nonsense and acted weird. Bartender called police and it took some time for the man to finally reluctantly leave.

I was uncomfortable when the matter unfolded but admired how calm and stern the staff was. She handled the situation professionally.

Other than this crazy episode, The Fiddler was a cool place to have drinks and hang out. There’s even a second floor open air area, perfect for a good weather day.

Will recommend.

The team are extremely welcoming, there’s an awesome deck area upstairs, and great live music on the weekend. The locals are also very friendly and a couple of them are extremely hilarious. I highly recommend; best bar in Auckland. The bar is also just the right height for taking a nap on after a busy day.

Hip little spot with a great balcony and gorgeous, friendly and helpful staff. They have a pub dog and a wide selection of drinks. I found the teapot cocktails a bit too sweet for my palate but I think they are made to share as shots given the presentation. Worth a visit! (FYI no disabled access)

Terrible service! Was refused any drink by one barmen but said if we were women he’d have served us! Another guy did serve us but the vibe here is bad and I wouldn’t recommend. Something felt wrong and odd with the staff!

The teapots are very fun to order, and fun to share. The music is a not really my taste, but it is a fun vibe. Toilets are very clean, four stalls in the females toliet. Service is quick for a club/bar. Don’t expect snacks though, ot tales over 30 mins after 9pm. Is a little difficult to see the entrance on the street.

I went there for the latin party but it wasn’t any good. I’m latin american and didn’t enjoyed the music so I had to leave one hour after I arrive. I wasted 20 bucks in ticket entry and 17 in the drink. Check out online for discount on tickets if you really want to go

Probably the worst vibe we’ve ever experienced on a Friday night. Came here because of recommendations but we could not recommend to anyone. Drinks were fairly priced but the cover charge made up for that. Maybe 6-10 people were here from 11-12am and no one stayed. On the bright side, we could enjoy the live band playing across the lane from the balcony. Steer clear amigos, might be good for pub crawl nights with a group?

The teapots are nice to share with friends, especially if you’re younger it’s a nice experience with that for a girls night out or bringing your friend group. Otherwise, the atmosphere I’ve never really enjoyed, it’s been flat and the type of people it attracts I haven’t had great experiences with. The decor is cool and a nice vibe but yeah over all lacking something.

Cassette Nine will be my hangout spot whenever I am in New Zealand. My friends and I walked past looking for a place to eat. It was after 9pm so most restaurants were no longer serving food. Moses, the bouncer, gave us some food options then began talking about the establishment, the DJs, the Tuesday international visitors raffle (yes they raffle off excursions and other prizes so visitors so can get to experience NZ for free), etc… we left to find food but returned to check it out. The music was great and we danced the night away. If you go tell Moses we sent you

Awesome venue where people are lively and nice good vibes. First time there for a battle of the band gigs and I must say I really enjoyed myself a lot !! However if I could change one thing the drinks were a tad expensive but that’s understandable places have to make money too if they’re not usually as busy.

A group of us came to NZ on a study abroad tour from America, and really wanted to go out on a Thursday night. We came across Ding on a whim and were given one of the most fun nights ever! The whole staff was extremely friendly and welcoming towards us, and the DJ was amazing. Danni Doll!! She is wonderful! Whole night allowed us to make song requests and we danced the night away. Our night here was definitely one I will never forget and made our trip to Auckland fantastic! Drinks were also very tasty. Highly recommend the Zombie Chew! ‍♀️♥️ Thank you guys! Love from America!!

Good place to watch bands. It can get steamy inside the room, good loud sound. There is an open area where the bar is. They only serve drinks in plastic cups. Nice staff and especially the door guy. They have limited toilets one for ladies near bar and another side of stage. Be prepared to wait.
Small entrance be prepared to wait a little to get in. Iconic venue you will love if you’re a true lover of bands.

Probably my favorite venue ever from an aesthetic/feeling. It felt very alternative/punk. Tickets were reasonably priced, the bands were super entertaining, so far my favorite part of visiting Auckland. If you love music that comes from the soul and isn’t some corporatized lowest common denominator crap, then you absolutely should visit the Whammy Bar and the Double Whammy. Whether you’re an international tourist like me, or a local, supporting local music has never been more fun.

Whammy Bar has been an absolute institution on K Road for as long as I can remember, and after frequenting it for over 15 years, I can confidently say it’s still just as great as ever. When it became Double Whammy Bar after Wine Cellar closed its doors, I wasn’t sure what to expect—but honestly, nothing has been lost. The vibe, the gigs, the staff, and the drinks list are all spot on. It’s a small venue with a big heart, and it continues to be one of the best places in Auckland for live music and a good night out. Love this place!

Dodgy wooden Ramps join the various levels of this very small venue, I’m sure they’ve taken down a few good people in heels. Bathrooms are not great and considering at a bar all you really have is your bar and your loos to pride yourself on, there was no pride. Unless I had another gig to watch here, I doubt I would return

These guys are legends after I accidentally lost my wallet in Auckland.
By using messenger I contacted the bar this morning and they immediately replied and said yes they had it.
Had a great night as well.
Very very pleased, and I was able to pick up after hours at there suggestion.
I can’t thank everyone enough.
Brilliant service and how amazingly honest .

It’s got a charm to it, good live music venue.

Bar is separated from the music venue so it has a cool concert feeling. You can of course take your drink through with you.

Sound is great!
