This was my second time here, and once again, the experience was excellent. The eye exam was smooth, and the person helping me with glasses was super patient, knowledgeable and helpful. I love the wide variety of frame options, they made it easy to find something I really liked. Highly recommend!

The staff were incredibly polite, insightful, and we are very invested making my experience better. From cream choice, to explaining the different lens options, and laser eye surgery. I went to the one in Ponsonby and would happily return here.

The prices and the deals are all very fair. The frame options for far superior to the other opticians I have visited in Auckland, with a wide range of classy and modern frames.

James from Ponsonby branch was very helpful and accommodating. I also like how precise they are in measurements and ensuring that their customers are satisfied in their product and services. This shop would definitely my go to place from now on.

The most unfriendly experience both choosing lens for my glasses, and picking them up.

When choosing I felt under a lot of pressure to spend the most money possible. It was as if I was an idiot to try and save some money on progressive lens (which are more expensive to start with). It wasn’t a friendly or helpful experience.

Then picking them up I wasn’t greeted when I came in and stood for quite a while waiting for one of the staff to look up from the work they were doing. Then she handed me off to someone else. I also had to ask for my frames to be adjusted so they fit more comfortably and wouldn’t slip forward.

Appalling customer service on both occasions and I was the only customer in the store also on both occasions. I won’t be returning.

The optometrist was very pleasant and gentle but the welcome to the shop was cold if not parculiar. The team of three looked at me more like I’d walked into their sitting room uninvited. A woman all in white walked oddly slowly towards to as if nervous of an intruder, saying nothing to me. I had to introduce why I was there as if it wasn’t a shop front. Another girl then took over but had no idea how to use the machines for my consult, it was very unnerving and embarrassing until it took the rest of the staff not bring able to help for them to get the optometrist. I totally understand staff in training but they should be shadowed much closer

This was hands down the worst experience I’ve had in retail customer service. I’ve worked in retail myself for over 20 years and I was astounded and not in a good way. When I arrived to the store I had an appointment that I had booked online and received a confirmation for, the sales assistant James had no clue and was fumbling around trying to find my appointment. I mentioned there was an email that was sent through regarding it, he proceeded to ignore me and looked at me blankly. I asked if the manager perhaps knew and he said the manager wasn’t in and didn’t offer any resolution. I felt like I had to prompt simple customer service questions to him- he then tried contacting his manager and I told him again that there was an email that would have come through from Australia. He then said something along the lines of “oh the stock in Australia isn’t the same as what we have here”. Um? I then repeated that he would have received an email about my appointment and had to tell him to literally check his emails- he found it and then mumbled that the optometrist was ready to see me. The appointment was great and left the store a bit bittersweet. 2 weeks later and I hadn’t received a notification or email so tried to ring the store and their phone messages were at full capacity so it kept hanging up. I contacted customer services and they were able to follow up only to find out my order hasn’t been processed at all so I’d have to wait another week and a bit for them. Frustrating. Then waited a week and a bit and still no notification, I rang the store and the guy said oh yes they were there ready to collect and I should have received a notification. I went into store to collect these and the woman at the counter proceeded to look for these for 10 minutes before she found them on the counter.

I love the glasses but honestly guys, your sales staff need more training. Not impressed.

While my overall experience of Bailey Nelson has been great, with super helpful, attentive staff, this wasn’t the case when I picked my latest glasses up. They didn’t check and adjust the fit like they usually do, so I will probably need to go back, which is a shame. That said, I love my frames and they arrived sooner than expected.

Cannot recommend highly enough. Sayed was so thorough explaining every details and staff was so helpful choosing frames. Not pushy and genuinely looking out for my best interests. Great value too. Have previously been with another company and the different was immense.

Got an eye test and some new glasses. Test was very thorough and came with a detailed explanation, which I like. Told me what my options were along with pros and cons which made my decision simple. They even fixed my old glasses for free so I can use them until my new ones arrive. Top service all around and really friendly staff, plus very reasonable prices and no upsell pressure. Definitely 5 stars from me.

My experience at Oscar Wylee Optometrist was very positive. I had a thorough eye test. The Optometrist was kind, listening well and gave me good advice. I didn’t have a feeling they were after money but rather wanted to give me the best service and helpful advice possible. I am happy to recommend them fully.

The team of people who served us was excellent. They even took the time to give us recommendations for a more accurate vision exam. We were very happy with the experience and are now waiting for my daughter’s glasses to arrive.

Great service and friendly staff. Both hearing and vision tests were completed efficiently. Rasha was extremely helpful when I was choosing new glass frames. When I collected my new glasses, Rasha also checked that they were a good fit, and that there were no issues in me reading with the new prescription. Fantastic deal on the price of 2 new frames!

I have been a long standing Specsavers customer. John Osborne (Director) Is greatly missed in that store. All the staff were very helpful, but I felt many of them were very guarded by the unfriendly new Scott Rynne (Director) he needs to improve on his people skills and smile at potential customers. His mannerism needs working on!!

Today I picked up two new pairs of glasses from Specsavers Newmarket. Great selection of frames but it is the quality of the people and service that impresses me most. I had the usual prerequisite eye tests a few weeks ago and then some more eye health tests today when I collected the new specs. They are thorough and thoroughly professional. They have identified a potential health issue which will require monitoring of which I was previously unaware. So if you need or want new glasses and ensure your eye care is looked after then I heartily recommend these people. To a person they have been excellent.

This was, quite literally, the first time I’ve ever had an eye exam in my life, as well as the first time I’ve ever needed corrective lenses of any kind, in five decades. Despite not knowing anything about corrective lenses or the specifics of vision issues, the staff at Specsavers, from the optometrist to the reception staff, were all kind, patient, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. They explained everything clearly and ensured all my concerns were addressed and questions were answered. It was truly a lovely experience, and I’m even excited to have to wear glasses now. The entire process was stress-free and even enjoyable. Is it because I’m weird, or is it because the staff at Specsavers are just that good at what they do?

I can’t remember the names of the staff that helped me at the time, but the reception trainee and the staff member assigned to help me choose my frames were both phenomenal.

I was not able to choose at this appointment as my partner was unavailable to provide input on the frames, but I was able to go to another Specsavers store with her today and purchase my frames. Thank you to everyone involved.

I initially had a good eye exam however when going to collect glasses that had new prescription I was met with arrogance and not listening to the customer. I had to ask for the fitting and when I told them they aren’t sitting right the response was well they are straight. Also was told it’s about prescription not how they feel but they didn’t even know why I needed glasses or explain what to do to test prescription. Left with glasses and took to competitor who were more than happy to fit and noticed they weren’t right before I even had them on fully. Filled in feedback on website and had just a store person call not even management and was met with more arrogance and no apology until after I pointed out he hadn’t appologised. Still waiting management phone call. Fair to say I will not be back at all.

It’s my second time having my eye’s tested and the equipment and process from the first time, was different but much better and after two weeks i picked up my new prescription glasses, also you can have your hearing test done

I am always super satisfied with the customer service I receive at Specsavers no matter which store I choose (North or South Island).
The eye check is comprehensive and seamless. All of the staff I interact with are skilled and responsive. Today I picked up my new glasses after 9 days. The prescription is correct as always. Thanks Specsavers Newmarket.

Be aware if you book for an EYE TEST at Specsavers they now advise before doing this test they are going to undertake a HEARING SCREEN too – all undertaken in a small dark room just off a very noisy area. How opportunistic! Whilst my result was (surprisingly) pretty normal and you are not forced to do it, I find this practice rather distasteful and Specsavers looking to upsell. Nothing is mentioned about this Hearing Screen when you book – you are sprung with it and it adds extra time onto your appointment. I spoke with one of the Directors who appeared to think because it was complimentary it was acceptable. I hastened to explain it should have nothing to do with pecuniary matters but everything to do with principles. I was informed others have also made complaints. It was mentioned that this directive comes from Specsavers UK whom I have now contacted. I believe if they wish to undertake this supplementary check they should not only advise this at the time of booking, but do it in an appropriate environment.

Excellent service from the approachable friendly staff at the Albany shop, to the very professional comprehensive eye examination, to the fast delivery of my new glasses. Their optometrist even picked up something that both an eye specialist and the hospital ophthalmologists had missed. Such a small easily fixed problem but had been causing a lot of pain! Very Happy customer.

I really believe in staying with the 1 person right through. It was really disjointed, different people all the way through. Ball was dropped. 2 phone calls, followed by 2 texts, mis-information. Get my glasses & they aren’t transitional. Just slow down & listen. In saying this 1st optometrist fantastic, shop staff super friendly.

Just collected my new glasses tonight, after ordering them Friday lunchtime last week. Absolutely fantastic to be able to see clearly after months of a little blurry vision. I had a disappointing experience with the assistant manager at Bailey Nelson In north shore Albany westfield mall. I arrived on time for my appointment, but she repeatedly insisted I was late—until I showed her the SMS confirmation with the exact time of my arrival. Despite being proven wrong, she didn’t look at me, didn’t apologize, and simply looked away with what felt like clear prejudice. Her attitude came across as dismissive and impolite.

My experience has been great in every way. I’ve gone to 3 other places and only at Bailey Nelson was I diagnosed and referred AND afterwards my progressives were so well-made I got used to it almost immediately.
I really can highly recommend the Albany branch.

The customer service at OW Manukau was outstanding! The team was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, ensuring I felt comfortable throughout the entire experience. Communication was clear and helpful—they provided all the information I needed without any confusion. I also appreciated how time-efficient the process was; I didn’t have to wait long, and they were very considerate of the fact that I needed to get back to work. Thank you for the excellent service!

The receptionist and optometrist were incredibly friendly and highly professional. I walked in hoping to get an eye test, and the Indian receptionist went out of her way to accommodate me. She was also very polite, which made the entire experience positive. The optometrist was equally friendly and approachable. His knowledge and professionalism were immediately apparent, and his calm approach made me feel comfortable throughout the process. I’ll definitely keep going there for my glasses.

What a lovely lot of staff, Eye test was simple , and instructive as well. 2 young ladies where so helpful in helping me chose my glasses. Was so nice to have a different range of glasses. So good, already got my friend booked in.

I went in to have my eyeglasses aligned and to replace the nose pads, which I had been using for almost two years. The lovely staff were very accommodating and fixed my glasses in just a couple of minutes, free of charge. They also kindly cleaned my glasses for me.

I am very pleased with Dr Usman the optometrist who did a fantastic and thorough eye examination for my daughter, the entire staff were friendly and very easy to work with. I highly recommend their expertise. 10/10

On the morning of Wednesday, June 4th, despite the heavy rain, I made my way to Oscar Wylee in Manukau for a 9:20 AM eye examination. I arrived early.

Stephanie, who was friendly and professional, introduced herself and began the initial round of tests on my eyes. She made the pre-check process feel smooth and efficient, setting a positive tone for the rest of my visit.

Shortly afterward, I met Usman, the optometrist. From the moment he began the consultation, it was clear that he takes immense pride in his work. He was incredibly thorough, conducting multiple tests with precision and care. What stood out most was his calm and attentive approach—he never rushed, took time to explain each step, and made sure I felt comfortable and informed throughout the process.

Following the examination, Usman recommended a visual field test to further assess the health of my eyes. His attention to detail gave me confidence that my eye health was in good hands.

After the consultation, I was able to select and purchase both a pair of prescription glasses and sunglasses, rounding off what had been a very positive and reassuring experience.

Overall, my visit to Oscar Wylee Manukau was excellent. Usman exemplified professionalism, dedication, and genuine care in his role.

I had an amazing experience at Bailey Nelson in Commercial Bay! I brought in my 3-year-old glasses, not really expecting much, but the team went above and beyond. They not only fixed them on the spot but also adjusted the fit—completely free of charge. The staff were super friendly, professional, and clearly take pride in great service. Optometrists here are just professional. I come in for an eye health check because I rubbed a foreign particle into my left eye and couldn’t get it out for days. The optometrist patiently did a full eye check for me. At the end when they successfully took that tiny small thing out, I was so relieved.

I visited a GP before hand and they couldn’t help but just gave me an anti infection eye drop… If you have eye issue, I highly recommend this place rather than a GP.

Very friendly and helpful staff in the Auckland CBD shop. First time needing reading glasses and trying to select frames was daunting. The guys in the shop were great at helping narrow down looks, fit and cost to fit my requirements.

After arriving in Auckland from the U.S., I realized I had forgotten to pack extra contact lenses. We stopped by the Bailey Nelson store near the wharf and the staff was incredibly helpful. They ordered the contacts from my prescription, and then worked with me to find the best place to ship them since we were traveling around New Zealand. They sent me the tracking information and even followed up to make sure I had received them in Queenstown. It really saved the trip for me! Highly recommend.

The staff are very nice and helpful. But I was disappointed that all costs were not disclosed for the eye test. I paid more to do the comprehensive tests and then got told to pay more to do more tests.

Thanks to Elena at Highbury for fixing frames that had lost their screws. At the same time I found I loved the fit and style of a pair of frames they stocked much more than my current frames. Elena solved my dilemma easily, suggesting I recycle and have sized my perfectly good lens to fit the frame I loved. No charge for this, only for the new frames! To top it off, my new glasses were ready for pick up first thing the next day! Fantastic personalized and professional service was much appreciated.

Although I had a prescription that I got overseas only 3 months earlier, Tony the Optometrist suggested to check my eyes again. And what a good thing ! In such a short time my left eye had deteriorated and needed stronger glasses. So I am very grateful for the excellent service and care I received at Highbury Optometrists. The receptionist E. was very helpful and friendly, and adjusted my frame perfectly for a good fit. We were very pleasantly surprised with the very good price for the glasses and the care provided.. I can highly recommend Highbury Optometrists in Birkenhead.

I came across Highbury Optometrists online while looking for contact lenses for my son and they were competitively priced so I placed an order. I had a bit of a time restraint so left a comment in the order and Highbury Optometrists was great at letting me know the expected timeframe and provided order status updates along the way – really great customer service. Bonus – the contacts arrived ahead of the ETA. 5/5 all round for me.

Was taught by Ashley – a wonderful teacher! Very patient and clear while explaining the process of contacts to me. Took it step by step and listened to my concerns regarding my hand positioning, helped me figure out a different way to hold my eye while putting them in and was able to complete 3 inserts/removals in one session! Ashley talked me through the booklet of do and don’t and made sure i understood how to care for my contacts and eyes (what eye drops I could buy and what to do if I get stuck or accidentally sleep in them).
I was really nervous coming in tk learn but she put me at ease super quick and it helped me stay calm while I learned how to pop the contacts in

I went in to get new glasses last month and had such a good overall experience. The staff were attentive, friendly and kind, really took their time in making sure I got the right prescription and helped me to pick frames that I absolutely love. I also appreciated so much that they didn’t rush me even though it was busy. When I collected my frames the staff were warm and lovely, and one of them explained my astigmatism in a way that I could really understand. Very patient and knowledgeable. Will definitely be going back, thanks heaps to the team!

The optometrist answered the questions I got clearly and patiently. She was really helpful. The man who did the eye test, his customer service was excellent.

I was struggling to get the right glasses and everytime I came in I felt like a deer with no direction. I am sick and tired of being told I have a strong percripstion and this makes me feel even more self conscious because I don’t fit into the low percripstion zone. I am not blind ? I am not wearing bifocals and other people have a way stronger percripstion Today I saw a lady named Ashley omg she was so sweet and caring totally understanding and went the extra mile. She understood my taste palette and went into a draw to get a pair of brown rim glasses very similar to my current pair. She was very informative with information from her background as a beautician, she said the style suited my eyes and my face shape. I agreed I said when she pulled the glasses out from the draw because they are going out of stock? I said with a sigh of relief I finally found the right fit for the glasses and I love ❤️ them. I give Ashley a 10/10 for customer services and would highly recommend her to others she was so sweet and caring to interact with.
When I came in the other day although the services was okay I did not feel I was getting a comprehensive interaction to pick the best glasses that are tailored to suit my face shape etc. When I picked the Kyle Minogue brand glasses I just did not feel 100% comfortable but I felt restricted in my choices and again a deer lost and unsure what to do? When I came today and saw Ashley she was direct with me and agreed and could understand why I would feel uncomfortable in the Kyle Minogue brand glasses. When she found the brown glasses in a draw not on display as soon as I put them on I feel that finally the perfect fit I’m a very happy customer. No offense Kyle Minogue your brand does not fit my style

This is going to be a long one so maybe get yourself a cup of tea and a biscuit before you start reading…. As a 30’s male who had never had a pair of glasses (and had been putting it off for YEARS) to say that the entire experience seemed daunting would be an understatement. However due to my ever increasing blindness, combined with the not infrequent prods from my better half about how I needed glasses; I embarked into the unknown.

What I was met with by the team at Specsavers St Lukes was far more than I could have ever asked for; they were not only very professional, understanding and talked me through every step of the process but patiently guided me around the store (me looking like a lost puppy) to try on what felt like half the pairs of glasses in the store providing helpful feedback and guidance on what suited me – style, colour, bridge width etc. until we found the perfect pair for me.

I have since had many compliments on my glasses and would recommend Specsavers St Lukes to anyone (even lost puppies like me) in need of glasses. Guaranteed I will be going back there for my next pair!

My husband broke his frameless eyeglass right before the flight to New Zealand. We were quite desperate since no one can help fix for us until we found Mr.Ravi who is our true life saver! We walked into Specsavers in Auckland and Sam was wonderful in helping us replace them quickly. He booked an eye test in with Renee for her (as her prescription had expired), then told us of a store nearby that could do same day prescription glasses.

My wife had a fantastic experience and we can’t thank Sam and Renee enough.

I am always a little apprehensive when I walk into a Specsavers store for a small adjustment to my frames. The reason being I always spot great frames I just can’t resist! This time I found a beautiful pair of Kylie MInogue black frames for my everyday glasses and a pair of Carla Zampatti sun glasses. At $299 for both frames I had to get them 🙂 I was at the Queens St Auckland store and Lester’s prescription has turned out to be brilliant! All the staff there are so helpful, especially Amy who helped me choose the frames, had them delivered in 5 working days and fitted them beautifully. Love Specsavers!

Incredible experience from start to finish. The team at Auckland’s CBD office is amazing. Their knowledge and professional support is something that they can be very proud of. As soon as you walk through the doors you feel welcome and special as a client. I couldn’t be more grateful. I look forward to returning to Spec-savers for my next pair of glasses. Cheers team!

A contact lens got stuck in my eyelid so I visited to ask for help. Instead of giving me simple and safe instructions, Specsavers told me to come back for a consultation in two hours. Front desk would not give me any suggestions. Walked out, watched a YouTube video and solved it myself in 1 minute. Literally any advice would have been appreciated, rather than selling me an appointment.
