Really happy with our first of hopefully many more visits to Scissorhounds Mission Bay. My cat Miso is a Persian X and her fur gets very long and hard for her to manage, plus it’s very hard for us to get the brush everywhere.
The groomer was very nice and gentle and spoke with me beforehand to check what sort of groom I’d like, which admittedly I said I’m happy with any length and cut because what’s important was to get rid of some of the underbelly matting.
We are so happy with the result, she looks so cute but most importantly she seems so much happier now that her fur isn’t hurting her. She’s mostly quite aloof but she’s been hanging out with us more since the shave.
Thank you so much for your expertise and patience with her, she probably didn’t show it at the time but she is very grateful, as are we!

I wad recommended to come here by some family members, but I regret doing so. When I got there, the wait time was super long for some reason. I arrived to my appt on time, yet they didn’t see me for ages. Fine… it happens. But when I met the vet, he was very cold.. Like I was worried about my cat vomitting and being lethargic.. but he was like straight faced and monotone. I’ve never met such a cold vet… I ended up moving to another vet and he was wonderful, he even called me the next day to follow up and see how my baby was.
Also the receptionist was quite cold. I don’t know.. perhaps I came on a bad day or they are only kind to their regulars.. but I came all the way from West Auckland bc someone told me St Lukes Vet was the best and my first experience was very uninviting and cold. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re a first timer… they only care about their regulars and they will be very cold to you since they don’t know you.

The best vets ever! Unfortunately we’ve had a fair few visits in the last few weeks after our dog was attacked by another dog – everyone here has been so lovely and caring and takes such good care of our greyhound.
James is super lovely and knowledgeable and nothing is ever a trouble (i.e. my hundreds of questions).

Papillon dog, ear fringe cut. Did specify before grooming not to cut it *facepalm*
(Ear fringe is their signature look and can take upto 2yrs to fully grow back as this part grows in layers)
Unfortunate as I have been using their services since 2019 and they always had left the ear fringe alone till today.
Sorry I’m just not confident to take my dog there anymore:
First, whoever was the groomer clearly doesnt know about some dogs (ie. Not cutting ears of papillons)
However, second and more importantly, she ignored the request – i don’t expect the groomers to know all about breed specific needs hence the specific and only request not to cut his ear

Had my two dogs and two cats at Pawhub over the years and although none of them love it obviously, they have always come out looking and smelling great. Jess who was half Samoyed/tibetian terrier always had the undercoat brushed out so she kept her long fur but so much lighter for her and so much nicer than being shaved. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The team are always friendly and would do what I asked in a professional manner.

Felt the need to comment and give a 5 star as we have been coming to Paw Hub for three years and tried a different groomer this weekend for the first time. BIG mistake – we will never veer from Paw Hub again. Great groomers who always do such a fantastic job of grooming Minnie our schnauzer. The staff here are lovely. Unfortunately the DIY Dog Wash looks as though it hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned in months (dog hair stuck half way up the walls) and I remain concerned that this makes it a breeding ground for Parvo.

Extremely disappointing experience with Animates St Luke’s! I phoned to order two containers of fly larvae over a week before I needed them. I then followed up with phone calls over the following ten days and on at least two occasions was reassured that the fly larvae would be available on Friday or Saturday as arranged initially. And that I would receive a message notifying me they were ready for collection.
NO message and now, Saturday, when I phone, no fly larvae in stock.
Complete failure! Apologies but very very frustrating.
I would advise anyone not to believe a word you hear on the phone from Animates. They are totally unreliable!

This Animates is generally pretty quiet, so perfect if you’re looking at taking your dog for a wash there. I’d recommended purchasing the $99 yearly unlimited wash pass if you have a larger dog like ours instead of paying $10 per token for 10 mins. I’d give 5 stars but the dog wash area gets really smelly sometimes as not much airflow in there.

Tanya is an absolute gem!! We have always struggled to groom our mini schnauzer Jasper, he has just never enjoyed it and has built a distrust of of groomers, scissors and shears over his 12 years. I’ve lost count how many times talented groomers have not managed to complete the full groom as he just wasn’t having it – he’s a strong willed old man and has no problem letting you know just how unhappy he is by giving you a love bite with his one tooth…. So, on our first visit to Paws and Relax, my expectations were low – I know how hard he is to groom and just asked Tanya to ‘Do what you can, see how you go, don’t worry if you only get his beard done’. Well, 2 hours later I got the call he was ready and I was amazed at what she had managed to do. He looks awesome and has his schnauzer swagger back. We had a great first experience with Tanya. Our very anxious and timid toy poodle relaxed in her care and he came home looking super cute and perfectly groomed. A spectacular result when we wondered if he would cope at all.

I took my dog, Teddy, to Kristal Pet Grooming, and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. Shortly after the grooming, we discovered a cut on Teddy in an area that had been groomed. Since she had not been on any walks and had been in a controlled environment at home, there was no other way for her to have sustained this injury.
When I reached out to the salon, I was met with nothing but excuses and blame-shifting. Instead of taking responsibility or even acknowledging the possibility that the injury happened under their care, they insisted it must have happened elsewhere—even though Teddy has never had a cut before in her life. They even demanded a letter from the vet proving with “100% certainty” that the wound happened at their facility, which is an unrealistic and dismissive response.
To make matters worse, the vet next door, who is familiar with this business, did not have positive things to say about them. That in itself speaks volumes.
If you love your pet and want them to be cared for by a business that values their well-being, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Accidents can happen, but how a business chooses to handle them says everything. Kristal Pet Grooming failed to take responsibility, and I wouldn’t trust them with my pet again.

We’re so happy to have found Hayley at The Gentle Dog Groomer! Our two bichons – one older and getting a bit more nervous with age, and the younger one who likes to stick close to his big brother – both had such a great experience.
Hayley was so patient and gentle with them, making sure they were comfortable the whole time. It’s clear she really cares about the dogs she grooms, and the difference that makes is huge! They came home looking absolutely gorgeous, smelling amazing, and most importantly, happy and relaxed.

Hayley was so incredibly patient with my *super nervous* Meg. Despite initially planning to do her nail trim and ear clean in just 30 minutes, Hayley ended up spending almost 1.5 hours trying to win her over, going through 2 packets of treats in the process. She managed to wipe her ears nicely and trim 2 nails. I could see Hayley was disappointed she didn’t manage to get everything done, but that’s still more than we managed in 18 months. Despite spending all this time & effort, Hayley still charged the base amount and I’m super thankful that she kept it so affordable.
I do hope for Hayley that she has better clients than Meg & me though!

Hands down the most caring, kind and skilled groomer you will find. Both Jess and Diesel go to The Gentle Groomer and love their pampering time with Hayley. Jess is a fluff ball and comes out smelling and looking fabulous Jess has sensitive skin and is treated with care and understanding and loves getting her nails done a true achievement! It is so easy, drop dogs off then a couple of hours later collect 2 happy, calm beautifully cared for groomed and manicured dogs. I particularly like the photos and txt updates I receive during their pampering sessions it’s the go to beauty parlour for your fur baby.

My 2.3kg chihuahua was held down by 2 people to groom her. (admitted by the owner!) Calling her a ‘naughty’ dog. This stress caused my dog to suffer from ataxia….where she couldn’t stand up or walk and I had to seek urgent vet care. The owners took no responsibilty and I would STRONGLY advise you to think twice about taking your dog here if your beloved pet fears the groomers.

I didn’t really know what to expect taking my very shaggy and matty 10 month old border collie for a groom yesterday. I just about cried when I picked him up – he was soooooooo beautiful. The team explained what the grooming would include and he was cleaned, brushed, “tidied” and clipped and just looked amazing. When we got home the whole family just said “wow”. I will definitely be coming back, just so happy and thankful for the wonderful team at Boutique Dog Grooming for doing such am amazing job, I will be highly recommending.

I took my border collie there this afternoon and it is the best he has ever looked! He has had many not good experiences with groomers, to the point where he hates being groomed by anyone.
