First time dining here. The food was astonishing, every bite was perfect. We were looked after by Mikaela, she has the most extraordinary customer service skills and I hope everyone has a chance to be served by her. You made the experience absolutely fantastic. I’ve been in the service industry over 35 years and extremely fussy about customer service, you were incredible and I wish you great success. Thankyou for a memorable evening.

We only planed on having a drink or two but after seeing the pizza’s ended up coming back and eating here.
Unfortunately due to supply issues we didn’t get basil on the pizza and it wasn’t buffalo mozzarella but it was still good.
The hero of the night was the parmesan truffle fries highly recommend !!
The staff were very friendly.

So happy to recommend The Conservatory! we held our staff Christmas function there last weekend and our team is still talking about it. From the moment we engaged with the venue we knew we were in good hands and that was proved beyond our imagination on Saturday. The premises are gorgeous located right on the water, and the staff cannot do enough to provide the best service. The FOOD was spectacular and very generous – they accommodated our dietary requirements perfectly. Big thanks to Tricky, Hoda, Micaela and the team, we will be back

We ate twice at the conservatory. The first time my wife had duck and I had snapper. The second time we shared a late afternoon gluten-free veggie pizza. I had a lager and spritzer and my wife had a virgin Moscow Mule. Everything was great – 10/10. Service was perfect. I am a bit of a lager snob and their draft lager was really fresh without any hoppy taste which is how I like it. Easy recommendation.

I come to this restaurant every couple of months because it really has everything I like about a restaurant… good food and service, nice atmosphere and plus it comes with a view. My review will be based on our experience on Saturday 1st March. We came here to have food and drinks prior to attending a concert. We ordered the conservatory pizza, Truffle fries, 2 espresso Martinis, 2 mocktails and 2 proseccos. The pizza was a decent 18″ inch pizza perfect serving size for 4 people. It was a really nice pizza packed with flavour and enjoyed by the whole table! I highly recommend their Truffle fries (i get this every time I come here)… it’s an absolute hit and so morish. The espresso martinis (also another staple I order everytime I visit) does not disappoint. A special and big shout out to Mikayla who waited on our table. Not only did she provide us with the best table service, she was very pleasant, friendly and attentive. The place was quite busy during the time we were here which was mid to late afternoon and she never neglected the tables she waited on, pro-actively made her rounds and still came over a number of times to check on us even after we finished our meal. These are the very reasons why this is my favourite go-to restaurant on the Wynyard strip. And our dining experience on this day was a very pleasing 10/10 experience thanks to Mikayla, bartending staff and the chef!

Excellent meal at The Conservatory. Friendly service and great atmosphere. We tried the Thai salad with beef, duck, and fresh catch of the day, which was snapper. All cooked perfectly. We also ordered the yuzu panna cotta for dessert and it was also delicious. Highly recommend. We saw others around us get pizza and they looked great as well.

If youre looking for some top notch food, great night life, or just a night out of fun, this is a really cool place to check out. All of the staff were very friendly and would stop around early so often to make sure I had what I needed. You can watch all your food get cooked, depending on where you sit as well. The margarita pizza was pack full of flavor along with the cevetchie.

Great location and waitress camille was super lovely, she gave great service (would def be only a 3 star review if not for her) . Good place for a drink. I didn’t enjoy the food much, pizza average. First one came out with the chicken cold in the middle, impressed at how they fixed this promptly and was better second time around but unfortunately overall not a great tasting pizza. I saw someone else order a burger and that looked much nicer.
They advertise their app everywhere so downloaded as it promises $10 credit, however this is only if you order via the app. Do not bother if you’ve already placed an order as they are not able to link your order with the app (outdated system for sure as just next door at rosie’s they encourage you to use their app and no problems to use after you’ve ordered).

Stopped here within an hour of getting to town. Great deck with view, place was packed in part due to a private party. Bar staff extremely attentive. My Veggie Bliss Bowl (plus chicken) was tasty.

Only negative was the annoying music with the extremely repetitive beat that just wouldn’t stop! To be fair, I don’t think it started playing until 8:00 p.m.

Probably will visit again before heading back to Sydney.

Had a great time at Dr Rudi’s! The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and the rooftop terrace is such a cool spot with amazing views. One of the best parts is that you can play bowling with your friends for free, which makes the whole experience even more fun. But what really made it special was the service from Udi — super friendly, attentive, and truly personalized. You can tell he genuinely cares about making sure everyone has a great time. Would definitely come back!

Booked a table here for a catch up with friends on a Saturday afternoon. I’d recommend booking in advance as tables always get snapped up because who doesn’t love a rooftop on a sunny day. Best spot is on the deck area – enjoy the view with a beverage or three and some nibbles. The menu was okay but we just wanted some light nibbles and ordered the cheese pizza, calamari and the cheese board. Would get the cheese board again for sure. For dinks, I had my usual (CC&Dry with no ice). I used the QR to place all my orders which is quite handy and does have a field for customisations/notes. Music got a bit boring in the end so my friends and I left. Stools are quite uncomfortable but that’s the story with all stool seating. Wait staff are very nice and the location is excellent.

Customer Reviews
I love the concept and aesthetic of this place.

We actually went twice in the same day.

The first time, I asked for something inspired by a White Russian—nothing too specific, as I wanted to give the bartender some creative freedom. Unfortunately, I was served a classic White Russian without any special twist, which was a bit disappointing considering the price. To be fair, half of the menu wasn’t available either. It wasn’t a terrible experience, just underwhelming.

A couple of hours later, we decided to come back and this time we sat at the bar. We had the chance to speak directly with one of the bartenders, Lock , and the experience completely changed. He listened carefully to what we were looking for and absolutely nailed it—delivering not only a delicious cocktail but a truly enjoyable moment as well.

Watching him work was fun, engaging, and—honestly—a little sexy, which kind of fits the whole vibe of the place.

I’ll definitely be back!

What a fantastic place!
I love the concept, and the vibe inside was dark, brooding and prohibition-esque. A no-menus place where the server asks you questions to find out what you like and they whip something up for you.
The place was humming, with empty tables not staying empty long. The service was really great… we were apologised to twice for having to wait for someone to see us, but it wasn’t that long at all.
The 2 cocktails we had were exactly down our alley, so they know what they’re doing.
We explained to one guy as we were paying that we were doing like a low key crawl to cool spots, and he provided some suggestions, which was nice. Would definitely return. Bring some coin though, at $24 per drink it’s up there, but think of it as a show too!

No menu. Friendly and knowledgeable server has a conversation with you about what drinks you like and the mixologist whips up something that is out of this world. Atmosphere is relaxed and conducive to conversation. If you’re a fan of speakeasy’s, this place is for you.

I really wish I could like and enjoy this place but not somewhere you want to go for a few drinks or cocktails.
The place looks great and great concept and love the drinks. Just doesn’t work. The serving is very slow and what seems like hard work. You can’t even order 2 drinks at a time maybe as that will make them even slower. Great table service just as they do not have a menu they ask you what you like and conk a drink to your taste. It may be a better idea to have menus to speed drinks up. Not sure 30 mins is acceptable anywhere waiting for a drink and only one at a time.
Was well worth a visit but only for one drink as not sure you will enjoy the wait. Maybe it’s the New Zealand way of things.

We recently visited this Hidden Bar and had an amazing experience! The atmosphere was lively, and the vibe was just perfect for a fun night out. What made it truly special was the absence of a menu — the bartenders crafted superb drinks based on our preferences and mood. Each one was a delightful surprise!

The staff were incredibly skilled and experienced, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. The live music added a wonderful touch, creating a vibrant and enjoyable ambiance throughout the night.

If they start offering some deals or specials, it would make the place even more exciting. But overall, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a unique and memorable evening.

Looking for a place to eat and Brew on Quay caught my eye as we passed on the bus.
We walked back and were not disappointed. The staff was great and the food was tasty.
I had the beef meat pie and it was wonderful. The meat was tender and very flavorful and the top crust was light and flaky.
I paired that with a local stout and I was in heaven.
Our meal and drinks were reasonably priced, but the staff made dining here very pleasant. They were patient in answering our questions and made us feel very welcomed.
Seek out this place for a relaxing good time.

Amazing staff! Such great people. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional and bringing the chill vibes. The range of drinks is outstanding- great pints and they even have our fav; Morning Cider. The building is beautiful – old world solid wood with plenty of intriguing curiosities gracing the walls. There are cozy spots hidden all round the venue so it can feel intimate even when crowded. Decent food – we weren’t big fans of the wings ‘cause we like them classic-style with crispy skin, but we’re from London so we get picky when it comes to fried chicken, these are American Buffalo style as stated on the menu. This is, however, the best pub on the waterfront. We go here whenever we’re doing a shoot in town and the team are brilliant hosts. Thanks guys!

A good place for a beer stop! Great beer selection, the building itself is interesting to look at, seems rather historic…for Auckland! Staff were friendly but standoff-ish. The easiest 5 stars I have ever given. Our jaws dropped upon seeing and tasting both our mains (lamb rump and pork belly) and desserts (apple crumble and brownie sundae). The food and service far exceeded our expectations. Empire Tavern is part of the Star Group, and you can get great deals like the Monday 2for1 mains we used simply by downloading their app. However, my friend and I would happily pay full price for these mains in future, and we decided to order dessert based on their quality and were so glad we did. I can’t think of a single thing that could be improved. Thank you to the waitstaff and kitchen team who made our night one to remember and hopefully repeat again soon! Everyone should try this surprising gem in the CBD, which had a lovely positive and peaceful vibe on a Monday evening and no doubt has something great to offer any night of the week.

Very chill place to go and grab some grub. Drinks were very good with the perfect alcohol ratio. The mozzy sticks were very crispy and delicious. The fish was cooked to perfection but lacked a bit of seasoning. Would have to add some salt and pepper to it but the fries were really nice. Service was great and everyone was very friendly. I would definitely come back.

Amazing place. I chatted with the manager, and she is making some changes. I can’t wait to go back and see what they do. Their breakfast menu is delicious and incredible for the price, and the cocktails are fantastic and cheap. They have a cool atmosphere; they even have a DJ. The staff were lovely and friendly, making the experience more enjoyable.

It was a really nice café. I’m glad I could visit it early in the morning. I ordered from the breakfast menu(Bacon bap w/egg, Cappuccino $12), but next time I want to try the main menu during another time of day. Right now, I’m really craving steak. The staff was friendly and very polite.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel last week to celebrate our 60th Wedding Anniversary. I must congratulate all the staff on the way we were treated. All, from walking into reception, made us feel very welcome indeed. |I must make a special mention of Karolina, she went above and beyond what we could possibly have hoped for. Without fear or favour I can say she is a huge asset to the hotel. The attention to detail to make the occasion memorable was unbelievable.|One of the receptionists even hand made us a special card.|I cannot speak highly enough of the hotel and staff.|We often visit Auckland for visits, we have found a new Home from Home

Such a well presented hotel. We have stayed at plenty of So’s around the world and know the quality of the service and the amenities that the brand offers quite well.|Great service, good valet, lovely welcome. Good elevator planning too!|The bed and linen were also excellent.|The bathroom set up though? OMG what a disaster. Who wants to hear their loved one going through a bowel movement on the toilet? Truly and utterly what a design mess. Clearly it was a design graduate on their first appointment who crafted the bedroom arrangement. There is no economic use of space here. No foresight. No thought to good hotel design. None at all. Theres not even a place to hang wet towels. Its all weird. Oops and the shower head didn’t work properly. Would I stay here again? No I don’t think so as the bathroom just negates the pleasure of it all 🙁 All the best

We recently returned to SO/ Auckland for another stay, as it had become my absolute favourite treat place to stay. From our first visit, I had loved the playful luxury of the hotel — the vibrant aesthetic, the thoughtful touches in the rooms like the high-quality toiletries, and especially the complimentary gourmet mini bar, which was such a standout feature. The breakfast menu was another highlight, with its beautifully presented options and generous servings.

Once again, many aspects of our stay did not disappoint. Most of the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, which really enhanced the experience. Their warm and helpful approach made us feel welcome and at ease, and it’s a big part of why SO/ had remained our go-to accommodation for our treat.

However, unfortunately, this time around, our visit didn’t quite live up to our past experiences — and it’s left me feeling quite conflicted about whether we’ll return.
We had booked a special package that included a $1 breakfast and the much-loved complimentary gourmet mini bar — this was clearly stated in our confirmation email… That the mini bar was included, and I was genuinely excited for it again. But when we arrived, we discovered it had been removed from the deal. The most disappointing part? No one told us.

Had I not decided to double-check and call reception myself, I could have easily assumed it was included, enjoyed the contents — and then been charged for it, unknowingly. It was lucky I trusted my instincts and asked, but I shouldn’t have had to. Transparency is so important in hospitality, especially in a premium hotel like SO/, and in this case, that communication was missing.

At check-out, we politely brought up our concerns and asked if a gesture — perhaps a discount on the parking — might be considered to make up for the disappointment. We received $6.50 off the parking. While we appreciated the gesture, it felt a underwhelming given the situation and our loyalty as returning guests. I didn’t want to argue, and I know these things can sometimes be out of staff’s hands, but I walked away feeling disappointed.

It’s such a shame, because I had truly loved SO/ Auckland. I had recommended it often to friends and family, and it had become my favourite escape in the city. But now, I’m not sure. It still has many wonderful qualities — the stunning rooms, the fantastic breakfast, and the mostly excellent staff — but the miscommunication and lack of follow-through on a booked deal really shook my confidence.

I hope this was a one-off situation and not a sign of a shift in the level of care and service. I want to believe SO/ can return to the standard I originally fell in love with. Until then, I’ll be hesitant to book again.

We stayed at the SO Hotel in Auckland for the first night of our honeymoon and it was perfect!! After a manic few weeks it was an absolute luxury to just relax at the hotel. We had a lovely sunset cocktail and delicious nibbles at the rooftop bar and then a nice, relaxing soak in the bathtub. Best sleep ever in the most comfortable bed and don’t even get me started on the breakfast buffet! We will definitely be back! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay (and our sweet treats!)

Had a work conference on site and stayed here.

From the moment you entered the premises, you could see it was a top quality hotel.

The staff were friendly and extremely accommodating.

Lunch provided for conference was absolutely delicious and again the staff were really good.

The rooms were absolutely stunning, great size, well equipped and well laid out and although I initially thiught was a bit pricey, was worth the price.

I look forward to bringing my wife next time.

From the moment we arrived, this stay exceeded all expectations. The location was peaceful, scenic, and perfectly placed for both relaxation and exploring. The room was beautifully designed, with a deep bathtub that made winding down each evening an absolute dream. Everything felt cosy yet refined, striking the perfect balance. The service was warm and attentive without ever feeling intrusive, and the amenities were top-tier — from plush robes to thoughtful touches throughout the space. It truly felt like a home away from home, just with a serious upgrade.

The Glass Goose absolutely delivers – the food is amazing, the staff are friendly and on the ball, and as an added bonus… they serve booze!

Great atmosphere, great people, and the kind of place you “accidentally” stay longer at than planned. Whether you’re popping in for a bite or settling in for a few drinks, it’s a guaranteed good time. Highly recommend

Went in early December for drinks after a Xmas work outing. Perhaps any other day would be different, but when we went it was like a party. So many other people were there for work-related Christmas outings that it was hard to hear and push past people to order drinks.

Nice spot, good drinks, and great vibes and music. Would come back again to try the food and not near the end of the work year when it’s crazy crowded (unless that’s what you’re going for).

Like a glass goose, I felt empty at the end of my meal. Cocktails were a hit or miss, but it really is just a matter of preference. I ordered the Basil Grande. Artificially sweet but unique. Next, I had the Fresh Pickings. This cocktail lived up to its name- extremely refreshing! When it came to the meals, my friends and I were shocked (negative connotation). I ordered the Lamb Shoulder, which was an undoubtedly delicious main. The lamb was well seasoned and tender. I highly enjoyed the parsnip puree, which was swapped as the original sauce was not suitable for my dietary requirements. However, with how much Glass Goose charged for the dish, the portion was absolutely ridiculous. Furthermore, the Tacos that my friend got was TINY! The skewers I ordered were also TINY!! This was a similar experience throughout our big table- why is everything so small?! Regardless, my friends and I had a good time at Glass Goose. The music was fantastic and the atmosphere was beautiful. From where we sat, we had a direct view of the Sky Tower.

Great vibe and staff!
Had the new season bluff oysters (lucky enough to have a few reserved!).
Also had the duck fat potato skin (crispy as and full of flavour). Pork belly, lamb shoulder are both great the gnocchi might need a bit more moisture and in smaller piece. But overall a great place to dine in!

The short ride is very soft and tender taste good too. Good service good location with beautiful outside seating. We seated indoor as the music is too loud and the indoor seat is beautiful too.

Exceptional stay at QT Hotel Auckland

From start to finish, QT Hotel delivered an outstanding experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and professional and always happy to help and made us feel right at home. Our room was fantastic: stylish, comfortable, and spotless with great attention to detail. The location is ideal and right in the heart of Auckland’s vibrant waterfront. A real highlight was dining at Esther Restaurant downstairs with phenomenal food in a beautiful setting, making our stay even more memorable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a boutique luxury experience with personality and flair.

Location was great, and the staff at the reception were very nice when we checked in. The room clearers are amazing, super fast and detailed. We were very very disappointed when we went to the rooftop bar. Me and my partner were ignored when we got there, made to feel very uncomfortable and that we shouldn’t be there. Then a group of young teenagers came out of the lift and was given a very warm welcome. After that experience we just wanted to go home and did not feel welcomed at all. Seeing we spend quite a lot to stay here it was disappointing.

UPDATE: QT Auckland’s “playing the field” reply (below) was cutesy yet addressed precisely none of the housekeeping, noise, or nickel-and-diming issues I raised. Evidently my positive nod to customer service was premature; dismissing guest feedback with marketing banter is not the flex they think it is. From 3 to 2-stars you go.

Location-wise, QT Auckland is a winner: strolling distance to Viaduct’s bars and restaurants, Britomart and the CBD, and only a brisk walk (or short Uber ride) to Ponsonby Road. Inside, the rooms feel thoughtfully appointed, but a tall guest’s vantage point exposes less curated realities: a thick film of dust blanketing every light fixture and shelf, plus grimy floors in need of a deep clean.

We’d booked two rooms (421 and 427) in the same category; the square-metre gulf between them suggested otherwise. No complimentary bottled water, either – a curious omission at this price point.

As others have suggested, sound-proofing is all but nonexistent: corridor chatter, neighbouring phone calls, bedroom noises next door made cameo appearances each night. On the upside, both front-desk and housekeeping teams were unfailingly polite and professional.

Breakfast was solid, if steep. With two guests technically included per room – and there only being one in each – being stung for an extra coffee each morning at breakfast felt penny-pinching. As for the much-lauded rooftop bar, the terrace is petite, the view mostly hemmed in by new builds, cocktails average, and service leisurely enough to test one’s patience.

Overall, an adequate stay in a stellar spot, but I’ll head for The Hotel Britomart the next time I’m in Auckland.

I had the best hotel experience at QT Auckland, and it all started with the incredible service from Alex at the front desk. I arrived earlier than expected, and Alex went above and beyond to have my room ready ahead of check-in. After a long trip, this small act of kindness made a huge difference.

Not only was the service top-notch, but my room is absolutely stunning—stylish, comfortable, and full of thoughtful details. The overall experience has been seamless and memorable from the moment I walked in.

We had a great experience here with the cocktails and service. Our group of 20+ came in for a Friday afternoon booking and casual drinks with mixed seating/standing and everything ran smoothly (we stayed for hours). We were served mainly by Luke who was incredibly friendly, taking orders and payment, bringing out the orders, keeping everything tidy etc. While we mostly stuck to drinks, we did share some fries, jalapeño poppers, and fried chicken which were all great to nibble on. Stress free experience for a corporate leaving-do and would definitely come back again.

Nice cocktails – really well made and enjoyable. The food was good too, though portions were on the smaller side. It’s more of a place for drinks than a full meal. It did get quite noisy when a large group came in, so it’s not the best spot for a quiet catch-up.

Review:

I was extremely disappointed with the Aperol Spritz at this place. The drink was completely watered down, not sparkling at all, and tasted flat. When I asked the waiter, he confirmed that it was a premade mix instead of a freshly made cocktail—unacceptable for a $20 drink. And the quantity of the drink it was so poor considering the advertised that was in front of the place

To make things worse, the service was incredibly slow. We had to wait over 20 minutes just to receive our drinks, which is ridiculous for something so simple. For the price, the quality was absolutely not worth it. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

This place is a hidden gem!

The food is delicious and well presented

The service is polite and professional

The atmosphere is relaxing and clean (and they have olive trees growing inside!) and the music isn’t too loud so you can still have a conversation without shouting at each other!

Definitely recommend for big or small meetups (the place is very big).

Recommend: burrata, gnocchi, BRAISED SHORT RIB (it’s sooo gooood)

Also, they take allergies seriously. Our kids have 4 food allergies between them had no issues and the front of house staff always double checked with the kitchen. Well done to the staff there for being accommodating.

We had the most amazing experience at La Zeppa!

The place was beautifully decorated and had a relaxed ambience that made our experience feel very special. Plenty of parking available right outside.

We were served by the lovely Tamsyn, who was thoughtful and professional. Her great service only further improved the atmosphere, helpful recommendations and a good balance of checking in and leaving us to enjoy our meal.

As for the food, it carried on the theme of exceptional standards. Beautifully presented, and extremely tasty. We all had no complaints and couldn’t help but compliment every plate we received.

With a range of taste buds within our table we all thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and food. This was even more evident when it came to dessert and we all had a favourite that yet again we could not stop complimenting.

We’re so glad we chose to celebrate at La Zeppa and I cannot speak more highly of them. We truly had a great experience, to the point where I could not wait to get home to pass on our appreciation. Thank you for a wonderful meal and service

The ambience was so lovely it felt so relaxing and warm. Both our waitress’ were so lovely and kind even though we might have been keeping them there later. The food here was okay, the beef itself was super yummy but the pickles didn’t really taste “pickled” and the potatoes were a bit too smoky for my liking but the other people at the table enjoyed it.
The cocktails looked pretty much all pre mixed which never really tastes the same. For the price as well is expensive for pre mix. Other than that I loved the atmosphere in here and would return just for drinks and maybe fries 🙂
