The interior was however clean. And the car performed reliably for my 2 week period. Do watch though, sneaking up over the speed limit is easy as the engine is very quiet and even in eco rather sporty. Also – the PetrolPal deal they promote DOES NOT WORK. As luck would have it, new users to the Z Fuels app give a 20c discount for the first 3 fills. But if you look around this can be achieved at other brand servos without card or app.
An extra star was lost on drop off when the officious lady who took the keys back insisted on the vehicle being checked for damage, read the diagram back to front and basically accused me of the damage that was there on pick-up. Manager happy to waive before I noticed the error but the ‘apology’ from this women was delivered as she was walking away as “I’m just doing my job!” I’d suggest quite poorly!!

rented in Auckland, drove 11days in North, then with ferry to South 10 days, returned car in Queenstown. Had a frontscreen chip, but got the Gold insurance, so no extra fees.
We booked a car for four weeks to visit North and South Island.
Including the oneway fee we got a great price offered.
Also they booked the ferry for us again with a very good price.
No problems with picking up an returning.

At no point during the sale were we informed of any additional service plan requirements. Had we known, we absolutely would have taken our business elsewhere. Now, we’re being told we must pay $500 per service just to maintain the warranty — which is extremely disappointing.
We even had a friend present who heard the sales representative confirm that servicing was included. Unfortunately, because this wasn’t provided in writing, it’s being dismissed.
Customers deserve transparency. Clearly explain all fees and conditions upfront so people can make informed decisions. We regret not purchasing a Toyota instead — they offer a full 5-year warranty with service included

The delivery of the car in Queenstown at Omega was however not very friendly.

However, I started having issues with the new battery not starting my car sometimes. I returned to Fredco, and they told me there was nothing wrong with the new battery. The issues continued, so I asked for a warranty replacement battery, which they declined to do. When I visited their workshop for the second time regarding the issue, the person they had speak with me would constantly talk over me and offered no solution.
I ended up taking my car to Nissan, where they identified that the battery was indeed faulty. I didn’t bother returning to Fredco because they were not interested in replacing their defective product.
This incident did happen about 5 years ago, so one would hope their service and warranty replacement process has improved since then. Either way, based on this poor experience, I would not recommend them.
They do excellent work at a reasonable price, and are always willing to go the extra mile when needed. In fact, Craig and Carl have both given me helpful and honest advice about what to look out for when buying another car. Their pre-inspections have saved me from buying a couple of “lemons”.
The whole atmosphere, from the moment you walk in, is friendly and efficient. They are a great team who I totally trust (something that is very important to me in my advancing years).
