Customer Reviews
My husband and I stayed for two nights at the Pullman. We upgraded our room which is totally worth doing! Our room was spacious and very comfortable with a fabulous view! The bed was excellent with lovely pillows and a great shower.|We absolutely loved the valet service. All of the staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly at all times. We had dinner and breakfast here which was lovely with a really great choice of food. We also loved how close to everything the Pullman is!|One thing I was curious about is what the lovely smell is throughout the Hotel… it really is a beautiful fragrance. Wondering if someone can let me know what it actually is. Thank you for a fabulous stay. You made our mini break a real treat! We would stay again without any hesitation.

We only stayed for one night but we felt well cared for and the lounge was great. The bed was really comfortable and we slept well. The pool and spa room was great. Breakfast was really super and all the staff were lovely. The only thing that we felt needed looking into was the water pressure, we literally had to run around in the shower to get wet, not a big deal and the desk said that they would let maintenance know.
Julie T (☆ 5/5)

After a long haul flight we were greeted with friendliness, a nice clean room, and comfortable beds. We had a great stay. The indoor pool was excellent for some body movement and energy expenditure for the kids in the winter.
Amy Zapp (☆ 5/5)

Not as nice as the Pullman at the Brisbane airport but pretty good. We had two rooms and found the rooms surprisingly small (so glad we had two). Not as updated as the Brisbane property and bathrooms not as nice.
We had an issue with our child getting locked in the bathroom and called Anna who was awesome and was at the room in probably 1 minute to save the day.
Breakfast was good, and valet was good as well. Location great obviously when traveling.
Danielle Bennett (☆ 5/5)

Older hotel that has been renovated relatively recently. Room is a good size and in excellent condition. Amenities are good – gym, bar etc. Place is very clean.
Good value for money, though $50/day for parking is a little rich.
Breakfast buffet is expensive. Instead order room service breakfast – one serve is enough for 3 people!
Staff are great.
Location is good near the university and a short stroll to the city, gardens and waterfront. Beware if not fit that it is on top of a steep hill!
Highly recommend.

Had an amazing stay. Thankyou Virat for making our stay so memoriable. Your helpfullness and kindness was very much appreciated. We felt very spoilt and The executive lounge is a nice retreat and the T-bone steak is amazing in the restaurant. Special mention also to also to your staff they are very friendly. We found the position of the hotel easy to get around and the rooms were lovely and even though the hotel a little older it was still on par with other hotels we have stayed in. We felt our accor status was very acknowledged thankyou. We hope to come back one day and stay.

I had a really lovely stay — the room service was outstanding and the staff were warm and welcoming throughout. The spa facilities were a real treat, and check-in was seamless. Despite being in town for work during a hectic week, the hotel offered a calm, relaxing retreat. Thank you for the great experience!

Customer Reviews
The valet guy at the front was polite and presented himself immaculately. The staff and the front desk were knowledgeable and quick to get us checked in.
The room was very nice and tidy. A stunning harbour view. The curtains are thick and block out the light well in the morning. Most comfortable hotel bed and pillow. We were gifted a bottle of wine for our anniversary stay, a completely unexpected luxurious gesture that made our stay even more exciting. Weirdly the toilet roll holder is the opposite direction so the roll flies off every time you use it! And the cups don’t fit into the espresso machine spot, too big.
Our spa experience was bad… an adult-only spa area would’ve made a romantic stay much more pleasant. There were at least 8 kids in the lap pool (1 foot from the spa) every time we went to the spa, it was noisy and they jumped and splashed everywhere… kids and babies were in the spa pool too… NOT a peaceful/relaxing experience at all. The gym has great facilities including a step machine.
The casino for evening entertainment was wonderful, we could have a drink there, a late-night snack and safely return to our room.

Loved our weekend away at home! Spotless and comfortable room with great views. Welcoming and friendly staff in every department. Fast and efficient processing from check in to room service to check out. Thank you Sky City Grand team you made our anniversary weekend really special.

We got a great deal for the hotels 20th birthday. The suite we choose was spacious and clean. The staff were frienfly and helpful. The lap pool, spa pool, and sauna were great and in good condition. Nice buffet breakfast . Good weekend away in the city

First stay at this hotel, and mostly enjoyable. Clean and spacious rooms, although the carpet is starting to look a bit tired. Duvet on the bed was rather thin, although maybe that’s personal preference.|Good space to do some work. Bathroom was tidy and clean, however single-use shower gels etc get a big no from me. It’s 2025. Think of the environment please – better for the hotel image/brand also
Chizzamerica (☆ 0/5)

This hotel truly epitomizes luxury and is well worth every penny! It boasts a clean pool, sauna, and spa pool. I’ve enjoyed the best breakfast here compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at in New Zealand; it’s not inexpensive but absolutely worth it! The rooms are modern, clean, organized, and practical—this hotel truly embodies a nice vacation for anyone!
Lana Daichman (☆ 5/5)

Honestly, it’s not worth the money. The Grand is marketed as one of the more upmarket hotels in the city, but it’s actually pretty average.
We booked a room for our wedding night. The room was fine, pretty standard for a hotel room – nothing special. Staff were not very welcoming. We got breakfast in the morning, and I don’t think anyone spoke to us or even acknowledged us.
We’re also still waiting on the refund for the money they held for the room – this was about a month ago now.
They also tried to charge us for both breakfasts (which were included with the room) then one breakfast (because apparently we only booked the room for one) – which I confirmed was not the case.
There are far better and more affordable hotels in the city that I will be using next time I’m in the city.

Customer Reviews
We had a very enjoyable stay at the Park Hyatt. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome — helping with our luggage right at the entrance. Check-in was smooth and quick, which set a great tone.||||We grabbed lunch at The Pantry shortly after arriving. The service was attentive and friendly. I ordered the spicy beef salad — it was okay, but didn’t quite wow me. Drinks were great, though.||||When we got to the room, I’d completely forgotten about our luggage — but the staff had already taken care of it and delivered it to our room, which was a lovely surprise. The room itself was clean, the bathroom was excellent, and the harbor view was absolutely stunning. The bed was firm and super comfortable — I slept really well.||||Later that evening, we dropped by The Captain’s Bar. The staff were friendly and made it a really enjoyable experience. We didn’t use the pool or gym but had a look and they both looked very modern and well maintained.||||Breakfast the next morning was fantastic — definitely one of the highlights! Great variety and quality. Room service overall was good, though we called to request some extra coffee pods and didn’t hear back — not a big deal, but worth noting.||||One small downside: the front driveway area gets pretty cramped. When we were checking out, two corporate taxis were parked there for quite a while, which made loading our luggage a bit awkward and tight.||||All in all, it was a great stay. The staff were excellent, the room was top-notch, and the overall experience felt luxurious and smooth. Would definitely recommend — and I’d stay again!

It’s a beautiful hotel in prime place with beautiful views. The rooms are very spacious and neat and clean, washrooms were big and neat. The room we took has balcony to the street side which was beautiful. Love the stay. They have beautiful spa and pool with amazing views. The breakfast which was good but not many options as I went to other Hyatt places. But it was decent. The most interesting thing for us was they have some milkshakes kind of bottles which has clean ingredients which was the best. I’m really impressed with the location which is more likely walkable to so many places, and it’s near the port with yatch which was beautiful. Highly recommend this place

Fabulous place to say, VERY quiet, Clean and Tidy, Staff very welcoming, we decided on valet parking our car for $65 save searching for a park in Auckland. Room was a great size we treated ourselves to a balcony harbor room with a Bath and wow it didn’t disappoint, also added in Breakfast which was delicious, and the Flat white well done as well. The hotel is just a walk over the bridge to bottom of towns huge range of Restaurants, and just a 7min walk to Commercial Bay where you can Shop if you like. We dined in the hotel Restaurant Onemata for dinner and that was lovely as well. Would love to stay again as we found it so peaceful.

Breakfast spread was simply outstanding, a perfect start to each day. ||||The hotel’s ambiance was serene and inviting, set in a quiet location overlooking the harbour, offering a beautiful and calming view. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a relaxing and comfortable getaway.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My recent stay at the Park Hyatt Auckland was nothing short of exceptional.
The hotel’s design is a stunning blend of contemporary sophistication and clever use of natural light, showcasing breathtaking views of the waterfront. The lobby, adorned with tasteful art pieces, instantly creates a welcoming ambiance.
My room was a sanctuary of comfort. The spacious layout featured modern amenities, an incredibly comfortable king-sized bed, and a lavish marble bathroom with a deep soaking tub.
Room service was great.
In summary, my stay at Park Hyatt Auckland surpassed all expectations. The blend of stunning design, exceptional service, and a prime location makes it a premier choice for anyone looking to experience the best that Auckland has to offer.

I am a proud Aucklander, yet I have stayed at this hotel 3 times!! Although I’m leaving dear old NZ for a while, I will always return to this hotel. Everything here is done with such taste and an eye for detail. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The Spa is serene. The hydrotherapy room is a haven. I’ve stayed in a lot of places, and I rate this one of the best anywhere.

Excellent stay in a superb location. The hotel itself has a great sense of space, and we loved the decor. Our de-luxe room was fantastic and had wonderful views across the water back to the city centre. Staff were friendly without being intrusive and the valet parking service was very useful. Thoroughly recommend it.

We arrived after a long flight from the states. When we checked in, we were told we had been upgraded to the deluxe king room and we were so pleasantly surprised and grateful. However, as soon as we got to our room, we realized the air conditioner was not working. We spoke with the manager who apologized but said maintenance was not there on the weekends so it could not be checked and they were completely booked so they had no other room for us. All you want after a long journey is a comfortable, cool room. They did put us in a different room the next day and that ac worked fine. We were also disappointed when we asked for an 11:00am check out but they were fully booked and could not accommodate our request. I don’t think an hour is a big ask and if you’re fully booked, there are other rooms that could be cleaned first. I will say the people at reception were very friendly and even let us borrow an adapter since mine didn’t work. The hotel is outdated but comfortable when the ac is working. It’s in a good location.
Randy Helms (☆ 2/5)

Stayed at the hotel through the weekend just gone. Good location in the CBD, absolutely loved the young girl who was working reception at roughly 2pm on the 12th April. She was so lovely, will most definitely book again.
Kiara Kuru-Kino (☆ 5/5)

Air conditioning in our room has broken, and we found that out after checking in. Called the reception to see if whether there are other options for us. The receptionist said the AC system in the hotel has broken down since end Feb and that the information is shown on its website and all of its partner booking platforms do not have AC in the amenities list. There is nothing they can do about the situation and our options are to switch on the fan and open the window. My suggestion is if the hotel’s AC has broken, Trip.com should announce it in the property details as hotel rooms are pretty stuffy without AC. The worst experience with this hotel was not having AC though, it’s the defensiveness of its staff. Basically the receptionist told me this is the way things are, and cut my line off abruptly. Haven’t had such bad service at a hotel for a long time. Another thing is the hotel toilet’s interior is dated and isn’t clean. Will not recommend this hotel until it has improved.
Trip.com Member (☆ 0/5)

Avoid at all cost!!!!! They know the A/C is broken and still rent you the room, no refund. Unethical!
We checked in today on Saturday afternoon and went up to the room. It was very warm, 27.5°C (about 82°F) in the room, so I tried to turn on the A/C. No luck, so thinking I must have done something wrong with the controls, I went down to the front desk for help. When I told the staff about the problem, they knew right away that the A/C wasn’t working in our room and other rooms. They said that there was nothing they could do because maintenance doesn’t come in on the weekend. That was a lie! By now, reading other recent reviews, I find that this is an ongoing issue they have been having for quite some time. Please check other recent reviews on Trip Advisor and other sites to confirm.
They are knowingly renting rooms that have no A/C, which makes them basically unusable without giving their guests any advance warning. And once you are already in the room, they tell you that no refund is possible since you have already checked in for the night. I will be filing a claim with the New Zealand government under the Consumer Guarantees Act. If you have had the same or similar experience with this hotel, I would encourage you to do the same. It is the only way these types of businesses will stop their bad behavior.
(Full Disclosure – I edited my original post above and reposted so I could add this update. They just changed their minds and decided at 10:30 at night that if I wanted to pack up my stuff and try to find a new place to stay tonight they would give me a full refund. Had they done that several hours ago when I made the initial request, that would have worked. At this point wandering around an unfamiliar city at midnight with our luggage trying to find another place to stay isn’t really a good option. I think they knew that when they finally made that offer.)

Couldn’t check in until 3pm, and after 23 hours on planes, desperate for a shower, but we were able to leave our cases there and head out to explore. |The room was clean. The kitchenette had kettle, hob, toaster and microwave. There were 2 mugs, 2 large plates, 4 glasses, 2 bowls, 2 knives,2 forks, 1 soup spoon and 1 dessert spoon. I didn’t intend to do any cooking so enough for breakfast.|The bed was comfortable, bathroom ok.|BUT, there was no working air con!! on a day when temperature in the room was above 30* !| Went to reception. Someone else was there with the same problem and the response was ‘look at the terms and conditions, nothing we can do about it. The T&Cs were changed in February when problem with air con occurred.’ We booked before February, so should have been informed and given the option to cancel and book elsewhere. We weren’t informed. We were very unhappy about it, told the hotel was fully booked so couldn’t change rooms. There was one pedestal fan in the room which was inadequate. Reception grudgingly gave us another fan which helped a little. I do believe we should have some compensation for this, mainly for the way the problem was handled. We did not get what we paid for. Fortunately we were only there2 nights. Avoid this hotel

We have used Mt Richmond hotel multiple times over the years. Never had any issues or anything that can’t be fixed. Staff always are friendly and willing to help. Food at the restaurant is constantly good and tastes yummy. The chiefs always pop out to check how the meals going. Would recommend to anyone. Bonus there’s a pool and hot tub.

This is our 3rd time here. We stay because the price is good value for money and they have a spa pool which is great. There are some issues however. |Each time we have stayed here as a couple the bed is actually 2 single beds pushed together. On each occasion the bed splits apart during the night so we each end up sleeping on a single anyway. After a previous visit we reported this to reception. We also asked the house keepers to sort it but it seemed they didn’t understand us. One time we stripped the bed and zipped the beds up ourselves. It’s really frustrating sleeping on a bed like this as a couple! |There are other issues such as the room we were in during our last stay having the toilet leak on the floor. Finally the car parks are really narrow
rangihurihiam (☆ 0/5)

Really disappointing. Being a young couple we did not feel safe at all, and especially leaving our vehicle in a car park where people lurk. Our first impression was not great as the first thing we saw when going into the reception is security cameras of the “gaming room”, which is just a whole bunch on pokie machines. There was nothing online to state there would be pokie machines at this accomodation. The car park was always full, along with the “gaming lounge”. The accomodation was always loud and full of people under the influence. It also smelt like people were smoking indoors. All in all we did not feel safe and would strongly recommend young couples and families not to stay here.
Bryony Newenham-Falk (☆ 1/5)

Good place to stay in of you’re travelling for work or functions. Nothing to do there as there was a birthday held around the pool site. The whole reason we booked this place was because it had a pool ♀️ To be quite honest this place shouldn’t cost so much, as the rooms are “meh”. It’s loud, as it’s right by the busy road. If that doesn’t annoy you than people having their birthdays there when you’re trying to sleep in after finishing work at 3am, blasting music super loud when your room if right by the pool side
Ended up waking up frustrated, just had to shower get ready and leave the place
Staff should let us know that there will be functions at the hotel. So we can decided whether we want to have human alarms or sleep in peacefully.
Not happy
Lain Soqosoqo (☆ 2/5)

We have stayed here 3 times because of the value for money and spa. But after the third time and ongoing issues with the bed separating during the night (because it is actually 2 single beds pushed together!!!) we are over it. It has happened everytime and on each occasion we’ve notified reception and house keeping. One time they offered us a fitted sheet! On another occasion we stripped the bed and zipped the 2 singles together ourselves. Very annoying if you’re a couple. There are other issues too – car parking is very narrow, toilet leaked on our most recent stay, most rooms are up stairs.
Rangihurihia McDonald (☆ 2/5)

Not what I expected! Walking through the front door, you’re confronted with reality vs the website images that are still replaying in your minds eye…. That’s when you wonder, ..how did I get this so wrong? I was the first at the breakfast table the next morning, looking forward to a potent cup of coffee only to find out they don’t have any! The poor chef waved empty Nescafe jars at me in her defence that she couldn’t even offer me an instant coffee. During the day I phoned reception and asked for an extra blanket or duvet as I was cold the previous night and prefer not to use a heat pump for health reasons. That must have been an extraordinary request, or perhaps too much effort as they didn’t bother bringing me something else to stay warm that night. I would imagine with so many business people commuting and looking for accommodation establishments like these might build a reputation around returning customers. But maybe not… Perhaps their business model caters for people who don’t care about the little things that make your stay away from home somewhat special?
Philip Watt (☆ 2/5)

The room was lovely, beds comfy and shower hot. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful, providing us with everything we asked for. The spa pool was nice and hot. The meals in the restaurant were lovely, big meals for a very reasonable price. Overall really enjoyed our stay.
