After my marriage ended, I faced a decision about what to do with my engagement ring. At first, I considered selling it, but after receiving quotes, I realized that second-hand jewellery often sells for only 30% to 45% of its original value. More importantly, I knew this ring held a much deeper meaning than just its price. So I chose to give it new life—and I’m so glad I did.

My ex-husband and I have known each other for over 10 years, seven of which were truly incredible. He and I built a life, started a business that felt like our baby, and bought our first home together. He was not only my husband but also my best friend and business partner—someone who played a big role in shaping the woman I am today. Though we eventually grew apart, I believe that not all divorces have to be filled with bitterness. We had always promised each other that if things didn’t work out, we would part ways with kindness. And we honoured that promise, choosing peace over conflict.

Our journey together was significant and filled with love, growth, and many valuable life lessons. As I continued my healing journey, I wanted my ring to reflect not just the past but also the transformation that came with it. Like a flower that blooms, fades, and blossoms again, love doesn’t simply disappear—it changes, and its beauty can take on new forms.

After hours of searching, I found Meaden Master Jewellers, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have met Gary. From the very first consultation, he took the time to understand my vision, listened to every detail I wanted, and carefully crafted a design that felt perfect. He transformed my old ring into something even more beautiful than I had imagined, capturing both the past and the new chapter ahead. His craftsmanship, attention to detail, and ability to bring my ideas to life exceeded all my expectations. What I received was far more than just a redesigned ring—it was a piece of art, a symbol of my journey, and something I will cherish forever.

Now, this ring is no longer just a reminder of the past—it’s my celebration ring. It represents love, loss, resilience, and growth, much like a flower blooming through every season.

Working with Four Words on our Engagement Rings has been nothing short of a dream, from the moment we stepped into the office to the moment we got to see and wear our rings for the first time.

We flew up from Wellington to see the team in Auckland for our initial consult back in September 2024. And in just 45 minutes, we knew these would be the people that would help us bring our dream rings to life.

Hamish was just amazing and so helpful during our consult, helping us understand what we wanted and starting the process of breathing life into these designs.

The entire process of working with Four Words was explained so clearly and we knew exactly what to expect every step of the way. No surprises or unexpected fees or steps.

We walked in thinking we knew what we wanted for the designs and structure or our rings, but we were blown away by Hamish’s knowledge, and the deigns that were brought out and displayed to us. Helping to cement what it really was we wanted.

Further adding to this amazing experience, Hamish was kind enough to add in some details to our rings free of charge, we are so beyond grateful for the hospitality and kindness shown to us during our time in the office.

We were told we’d have unlimited reviews of sketches of our ring designs, however we only needed one. The design team took our briefing and in the initial concept sketches, pretty much hit it right on the mark, the sketches were just stunning; Four Words has a very talented team of designers.

Our revision was scheduled for ten minutes but we barely needed that, we were so utterly in love with the initial concept rings, but just needed to make one or two small changes.

The designer we spoke to during our revision – Mohammed – was amazing. We only spoke for a short time as we barely needed anything changed from our initial concept designs, but he was very attentive in listening to what changes we’d suggested.

When we got the updated sketches, it was love at first sight. The design team took our feedback and suggested changes and brought them to life better than we could have ever imagined they are just perfect! Everything that we could have hoped for and so much more, so of course these were the designs we went with!

And when the renders came we were blown away, the intricacy and beauty of the ring cannot be accurately described, no words could do it justice.

When the day finally came and I saw my ring for the first time I was beyond astounded, I cannot accurately describe just how much I love this ring and how prefect it is! I’m so thrilled with the end result.

It was incredible and so special to be part of the design process of the ring with my partner but still able to keep things like cost and delivery a secret meaning the proposal was still a big surprise! I can’t speak on behalf of him, but my experience with Four Words was truly amazing. I mostly dealt with Hamish in our one on one sessions where he had so much patience and provided loads of reassurance each time I’d make minor adjustments to the designs! We had plenty of laughs and overall it was great having Hamish take care of us! All the staff we met along the way were so lovely and you’d be lucky to deal with any of them!

My Fiancé and I are currently abroad (where the proposal happened) and were still able to keep in touch while away. The ring in person exceeded my expectations and is so beautiful!! After some time wearing it, I did have some minor concerns about the colour of one of my stones, but they have provided plenty of solutions and we will retouch base once we return from our travels!

I honestly couldn’t recommend Four Words enough and we will definitely be coming back for wedding bands in future! Their communication is top notch and everything about them is something positive! Keep up the amazing work guys!
