A thoroughly enjoyable & engaging two days of Skin Cancer & benign lesion analysis tuition. I learned the skills of clinical assessment, using the essential Dermatoscope & a greater understanding of the pathologists view & opinions. I definitely honed & consolidated my previous skills & learned much more. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to assess my own analytical abilities via quizzes held over the Conference session. I absolutely recommend this course for beginners through to seasoned professionals wanting to learn & differentiate between what to consider suspicious & what to confidently pass on by. Thank you!
Elisabeth Waddell (☆ 5/5)

The skin cancer / dermatoscopy symposium was excellent from start to finish. Expert presenters were, engaging, often humorous and shared the most up-to-date information, including additional steps to the Prediction without Pigment algorithm. Sessions ran on time and featured challenging images, discussions and quizzes with clear explanations. I personally enjoyed the additional image / pathology correlations. One of the standout aspects was the opportunity to interact directly with presenters, making the learning experience even more valuable. The venue provided a comfortable environment for learning and networking. Catering was absolutely fantastic. Overall, a truly excellent event that exceeded expectations in every way.
Leonie McRAE (☆ 5/5)

I highly recommend this course! It was very informative, easy to understand, great visuals and very friendly presenters who gave their time willingly.
I’m a registered nurse and I felt this course was aimed at all levels from the inexperienced to experience practitioners.
Leanne James (☆ 5/5)

An absolutely amazing course. Well organised with great content. I learnt more in this weekend than I have doing prior year long courses. I couldn’t recommend this enough to all wanting to upskill or start up their dermatoscope skills.
Jeremy Keh (☆ 5/5)

.. this was the second time I attended this symposium and I found it extremely useful for my everyday gp work which involves lots of skin check everyday .. cliff teaching style is pretty laid back and easy to understand and retain .. may attend if another time as well
Sheharyar Ashraf (☆ 5/5)

this was one of the best courses I have ever attended – information shared by experts who are able to make the sessions interesting and understandable. 100% recommend
dawn Acker (☆ 5/5)

I recently attended an amazing training course on Dermoscopy. It was perfect for gathering in-depth knowledge on the subject. The team was skilled and passionate, covering everything necessary to understand “Dermoscopy” comprehensively. Despite coming from a non-medical background, I now feel confident in differentiating between the various classes of the skin cancer by looking at the images. The quiz was the most engaging part of the training. Additionally, the course design, panel, organisation, and meals were all excellent.

Thanks Sonia for getting my mole mapping done! So cautious and delicate! Receptionists super friendly too! I’m very happy with my experience!
Ary H (☆ 5/5)

Having been to different kinds of clinics for various medical reasons, I can say that NZ Skin Health gives the best level of service. The ladies who have conducted my skin checks at various times had been very kind and showed topnotch professionalism. They explained the procedures and observations very well and accommodated questions to ease an anxious client like me.
Keep up the good work, NZ Skin Health Team!
Dee L (☆ 5/5)

I was a bit apprehensive about having my skin and moles checked but the team at the NZ Skin Health made me really relaxed and comfortable. They took the time to fully explain what they were doing and what they were looking for. Throughout the examination, they kept me fully appraised of the situation and what they were about to do next. The staff were extremely professional and polite and the whole experience was a breeze. I highly recommend this clinic to everyone who needs to have their skin checked.
Heng Loon Chee (☆ 5/5)

I went to NZ Skin Health to get a mole check. Hands down the best service I have received – professional yet friendly. Staff were very knowledgeable and took the time to address all my concerns. I’ll definitely be doing my regular check ups here. The lovely receptionist even held my baby when I went for my follow up. Thanks again NZ Skin Health!
Laura Rose (☆ 5/5)

I had a mole mapping done by Stacey at NZ Skin Health. She was very knowledgable, and professional. I felt comfortable the entire time. I was given home care advice around looking after my skin in the years to come to prevent further damage as well as what to look out for. Lots of skin cancer prevention information was given that I had no idea about, so thanks very much!
Maddison Parker (☆ 5/5)

Had my Molemap done by these guys instead of my regular outfit, and found them to be far more professional, experienced, and thorough. Everything they were looking at was blown up live on the big screen so I could understand and be educated as they went through the skin inspection, and I felt really empowered to keep an eye on things myself better between visits. The online booking process was simple and well organized, and I’ll be back again for my next checkup. The fact that if they found any skin cancer they could quickly remove it at the same clinic, was really reassuring despite not needing anything this time 🙂
Dwayne Smith (☆ 5/5)

I have never experienced such amazing customer service!
Stacey cares about her patients and is an absolute pleasure to deal with. It is so refreshing to find someone that wants to work with you to get sorted. Couldn’t recommend her more!”

I came here a while back for lip filler. Wanda did a fantastic job and I loved the outcome. She was very attentive and listened to exactly what I wanted, and she delivered!
She was a perfectionist which is exactly what you want when someone is touching your face. She is probably the only person I would trust touching my face and I value her opinion.
I went to see her again today for her opinion about what I need to do now to my face, and she listened to my concerns and gave me her opinion and time to think about it. Which shows how much she cares. She does not rush you and she isn’t money grabbing. She’s a professional.
I will definitely be seeing her for lip filler again in the future when the time comes.
Thank you Wanda

There are no words to describe the kind of service I receive from beautiful Wanda and her lovely son, I have been with Wanda for about a year now and she is the most amazing and wonderful person I’ve ever dealt with, she doesn’t just do this for a profession, but she’s passionate about her job, you can tell from the way she treats her clients, with utmost patience and respect and she assesses each individual needs. I would rate this clinic 10 stars if it were possible, this is will remain my go to beauty clinic for as long as can… thank you lovely Wanda and to your lovely son too..

Wanda is amazing! So friendly and welcoming, I’m really pleased I made an appointment. Wanda is super knowledgable, not only does she put you at ease and takes the time to listen, she also makes sure pain management is a priority. I am having treatments to remove a tattoo and after two treatments I have already noticed a huge difference. I’m really pleased with the results so far, and the fact Wanda is also a qualified nurse is a bonus – I’m definitely in safe hands! Thanks Wanda, you’re the best!

Have had two recent appointments with Dr Diana Spencer. She is incredibly thorough when checking for skin cancers. I valued her explanations and different options she suggested. I appreciated her skill during surgery. I thoroughly recommend Dr Diana Spencer as Skin Cancer Specialist.
Jill Bishop (☆ 5/5)

Highly recommend! I had a mole removal with Dr. Chen and I really recommend him. He did a great job making sure the scarring was minimal, which was important to me. He took the time to explain everything and made me feel comfortable. You can tell he really cares about his patients. If you’re needing a mole removal, this is the right place!
Jasper (☆ 5/5)

My husband did some research and found Dr Chen. He is a very thorough Doctor and I felt very comfortable with him. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone. He found a melanoma that turned out to be malignant but because he was so thorough it was removed completely and I’m all clear.
Michelle Major (☆ 5/5)

I’ve heard about the Skin Cancer Clinic from my friend who does an annual check up there. I went to see Dr Chen last year and he was very confident to notice BCC on my nose, did biopsy and it was confirmed. Thanks to my visit, it has been diagnosed early enough and the surgery was successful. I’ve done my annual check up this year and intend to do it regularly from now on.
I recommended Dr Chen as a good doctor to my friend and he was very happy with the surgery outcome and Dr Chen’s professionalism.
Alexander and Marina (☆ 5/5)

I have visited Doctor Chen on several occasions and have found him a pleasure to deal with. He is efficient but takes the time to listen and check any concerns you might raise. His operating skills are also excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend him.
Mary Cozens (☆ 5/5)

Visited Dr Chen Luo for routine skin check.
He was very personable with excellent communication skills. The skin check was by far the most thorough I have ever had which was fortunate because he identified an area of skin which he was uncertain about and did a biopsy which confirmed a melanoma.
The surgery for the biopsy and removal of the melanoma were excellent and the scarring is minimal.
My follow up check up at the Skin Cancer Clinic was equally well handled. The facility is great with good parking and helpful stall.
I would recommend the Centre without reservation.
Peter Lucas (☆ 5/5)

We have had a fantastic experience with Skin Cancer Clinic at Apollo! Both my husband and I got an appointment within a week of calling. We each had procedures again within a week to remove problematic skin lesions. We saw (and highly recommend) Dr Chen Luo, he was so friendly and made us feel extremely comfortable during both the initial exam and procedure which I was really nervous for. The reception staff are also absolutely wonderful and welcoming. Highly recommend – especially if you’re nervous or anxious about the process!

Nurse Tracey was also absolutely lovely – kind, attentive, and made sure I felt comfortable and well-informed about managing my wounds. Pauline at the front desk is a gem – so friendly and welcoming.

I have recently switched from another mole check clinic, and really noticed the difference. Dr Peter Ou was incredible with my skin cancer-related anxieties and took the time to talk me through it and understand my anxiety around it further. He was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all my questions thoughtfully and in a way I could understand. He made me feel comfortable the whole time, checked everything thoroughly and explained why certain things look the way they do etc. I feel so safe knowing I will be with the Skin Check Clinic from now on. Thanks so much Dr Ou, so much appreciated!

He and the lovely nurse Ryn were really kind, friendly and gentle and made our time under their care a 10/10 experience. They also explained things to us in a clear and simple way. Customer Reviews
I had the misfortune of encountering Dr Emily Ryder as an outpatient. Her treatment was average, which given the general standard of dermatologists in the health system is not saying much. But it was post-examination that it became clear she is of dubious character.
While waiting for my appointment, her previous patient exited in an agitated state and started berating her to me about his experience. He was heated and swearing and it was very uncomfortable. During my consultation I was quite sick and explained this to her and how hard it was for me to talk. I was generally very dulled and lacking in energy. But later after I rang to query my treatment plan, Dr Ryder accused me of being aggressive and had threatened her during my appointment. I was aghast and asked her several times what she meant but she refused to answer. I ended up making a complaint and requested a full review. But Dr Ryder steadfastly refuted my denials throughout.
It turns out long after the fact that she had mistaken me for the dissatisfied and angry patient before me. Which just goes to show her lack of mindfulness. It was an exceptionally distressing episode at an already difficult time and I’ve never been acknowledged for being wrongly accused. Steer clear. There’s enough arrogance in the profession. And Dr Ryder clearly believes her reputation is more important than her patients’ welfare.
Christopher Brougham (☆ 1/5)

If you want an empathetic and efficient doctor then look no further! In the time I have been seeing Dr Ryder, she has taken time to understand my skin care routine, offer advice, and trial medication that works best for me. In that time, my acne has completely cleared! I quite literally have not had a blemish since my last appointment with her. Thank you Auckland Skin.
Isabella Barrance (☆ 5/5)

I highly recommend Dr Ryder, she is amazing and genuine doctor that knows and cares for her patients. I came to see her for a second opinion after my eczema did not get any better, gentle yet the most effective treatment after i have been consistent with the plan in action my eczema has gotten so much better and nothing like before. Everyone that knows how bad my eczema was previously are in awe of how much my hands have recovered after just one consultation with Dr Ryder! I am just super happy and grateful! Oh and the receptionist is lovely every time. Thank you! I would recommend Dr Ryder to anyone struggling with eczema!
Grace (☆ 5/5)

Dr Ryder misdiagnosed me (told me she was 95% sure I had LPP) and placed me on medications for 3 weeks for a serious hair loss condition – I had to deal with 3 weeks of anxiety thinking my condition was going to lead to permanent hair loss (also suffered as side effects from the meds).
A biopsy was performed “to confirm” the condition – she had told me to return in 3 weeks to get my results and for her to remove my stitches. When I returned the biopsy confirmed her diagnosis was incorrect and that the meds she had placed me on were going to further exacerbate my condition. She then decided that my condition was something she had ruled out in the first appointment. She then questioned me about why my stitches were still in place even though she was the one who told me to come back to her for removal.
I was then prescribed a medication that lowers blood pressure, despite telling her I have low blood pressure already. When I questioned her about the medication (the pharmacist told me about the blood pressure lowering effects) she told me to cease using it.
So over $1200 later, I have left none the wiser with no certain diagnosis or plan to manage my condition.
Thoroughly disappointed is an understatement!!
Zeenobiyah McGowan (☆ 1/5)

I can’t thank Dr Emily Ryder enough. I had been battling a severe eczema break out for months, was so uncomfortable. I had been referred to a local specialist, which I couldn’t get into for 6plus months! I contacted Auckland Skin & Dermatology in the hopes I could get in sooner than the specialist I had been referred to and to my surprise, i got an appointment later that week (due to a cancellation). Dr Ryder checked my skin and diagnosed me with a skin infection from my eczema not being treated properly. She was very compassionate & empathetic, I was given a treatment plan, everything was written down, explained in detail. Within a couple of weeks I saw a major change and finally started feeling normal again. I am extremely grateful for the results and truly blessed that I found Dr Ryder.
Tracey Cunnold (☆ 5/5)

Not a good experience at this clinic. While Dr. Ryder appeared to have knowledge in this area, she came off as unempathetic. She arrived 10 minutes late and gave the impression that she was tired and trying to rush through the appointment. She failed to really address the real problem and instead focused on other less relevant areas. Ended up leaving with a prescription a GP could provide. For the amount these appointments cost, this was a very disappointing outcome, would not recommend this ‘clinic’.
Sophie Vun (☆ 1/5)

Visited December last year, Dr Ryder wrongly diagnosed me and prescribed me a cream for my face. Once I ran out of that cream I started withdrawing from it BADLY, my face was worse than it was before I came to see Dr Ryder. So I went to see a different dermatologist and turns out Dr Ryder gave a wrong diagnosis and cream so now I have spent thousands of dollars to fix what she did wrong. My confidence is gone because of this, I don’t feel or look myself. Dr Ryder should NOT BE IN THIS FIELD.

I have met with Dr Oliver twice for a serious psoriasis flareup and was blown away with his amazing ability to diagnose and deduce likely underlying conditions causing this. I think we’ve nailed it in two visits and back to my GP for ongoing care. He made sure he didn’t need me to keep coming back to pay specialist fees 🙂

I have had an incredible experience with Dr Marc Lawrence, from my initial appointment, surgical procedures and follow up appointments. Dr Lawrence’s expertise and attention to detail have proven amazing results with my very difficult case. Dr Lawrence’s bedside manner is impeccable, kind, gentle, understanding and compassionate.
Elisha and Vanessa, his nursing team have shown nothing but exceptional care. Their warm and calm demeanour was always present during my surgeries, this helped immensely.
Nothing has ever been too much for Shannon, from booking my appointments, to getting answers for my many questions. This never went unnoticed, so thank you.
I would not hesitate recommending Dr Marc Lawrence; he and his team are simply OUTSTANDING.

I’m concerned about the effectiveness of the mole removal treatment I received from Dr. Chin Yun Lin. After several appointments spaced 5-6 months apart, the mole persists. Although Dr. Lin applies dry ice for a short duration, I haven’t seen the desired outcome. The cost associated with each appointment seems high, considering the brevity of the treatment. I’d appreciate discussing alternative options or a revised treatment plan with Dr. Lin, as I haven’t experienced the expected results.

Dr Lin saw my mother for 5 MINUTES and is charging $350 with no sample taken. All that was done was a light was shone on the mole and further uncertainty created to say “oh you might have skin cancer” but you have to come in to get a minor procedure done. Why was he not prepped for a sample to be taken? Seriously, we are in a worse position than when we went to the GP. Dr Lin already had a referral letter from the GP outlining her medical history and he still asked her what medication are you taking – did he even read the referral letter from the GP? We are paying for this privately and this cost is unjustified. You think it’s ok to rip people by charging $350 for shining a light on mole? Other specialists I have been to will spend an hour and only charge $350 and give you MORE information than before entering the appointment.

The receptionist for Dr Todd Gunson is not helpful and rude. I would like to rate a negative star if I could. I called yesterday, asked the receptionist whether Dr Gunson would see a new patient, and wanted to make an appointment for my son to see Dr Gunson before 1st March (before semester one starts) if it is possible. She told me to fill out the online appointment request form which I did immediately. I called again today because I am worried for my son. She said no appointment available before 1st March, and the earliest appointment would be in May or Jun. Although that’s not ideal, I prepared to accept it. However, she wanted to put my son to see another specialist and said that Dr Gunson would not accept any new patients. I don’t believe it is the case. Because when I asked her whether Dr Gunson would see a new patient, she didn’t say no and just told me to fill out an online appointment form!

I’m hesitant to extol the wonderful work of Dr Patel as it’s already challenging to get an appointment with him, such is the demand. Dr Patel has been my dermatologist for nearly 20 years and I cannot write more positively of every aspect of his care. I have had all grades of skin cancer diagnosed and removed skilfully by him. He is an exceptional professional with a superb approach to his work; thorough and knowledgeable. During the lockdowns he also diagnosed and removed skin cancers from my elderly mother’s legs. That they didn’t subsequently ulcerate was again due to his post surgical follow up. I moved to Dr Patel’s care on the recommendation of my employer, following simply awful experiences with another local dematologist. I have never regretted the move.

Very happy with my skin cancer check/mole map with Dr. Aitchison. She was very polite, professional and informative. Made the whole procedure easy and comfortable.
Clinic staff in general are very polite and professional and the clinic itself is to a high standard.
Will be coming back here for my dermatology needs and I highly recommend them. Many thanks.

Staff are lovely, Doctor Sue was excellent.
The only problem I have is that the receptionist promised to sort out my surgery date that has been tentatively booked for the 3rd of March. Said I would get a call by close of day yesterday to confirm I am still waiting. I think she was trying to match up a nurse with the Dr at the time she booked me.
Tried calling this morning had to leave a message.

I was nervous being referred here based on the reviews but found them completely unfounded. Sure there was a wait for an appointment but it wasn’t unreasonable and it’s not like they’re standing around waiting for work. The Dr was very pleasant and efficient, and the nurses were all exceptional with their level of care.
Darryl Mcleod (☆ 5/5)

I was seen by Dr Karen Parker and Daryl and had the best experience and service. The two ladies were so helpful, honest and reassuring and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you skin institute new Lynn for making me feel so comfortable and well looked after.

I had a very positive experience with Skin institute. Reception were very accommodating and generally only took 1 or 2 tries to get through to them on the phone. Dr. Kenneth Wong was knowleable and gave me good information and treatment ideas.
Thankyou Skin institute and Kenneth!

Not sure is their staff has angry issue or a racist. I walked in to their clinic during their opening hour, door was locked. So I quietly waiting at the door. A very rude and angry woman (medium blond hair, long face) at the reception unlocked the door and blocking the entrance, told me she’s not expecting anyone to come in in a very angry voice and manner. Worst experience ever. People who doesn’t want to be treated like a rubbish, just don’t go there.

Customer Reviews
I write this review as a warning to anyone thinking of using them.
I went for consultation to see a skin specialist. I waited for 10min in the room, before a dr came in and explained that, the specialist I’m meant to see today is not in, but I’ll have a look, even though he’s not the specialist. He looked at me for 30 sec before telling me he’s not sure what it is, but we can cut it out, or we can reschedule the consultation so that you can see the specialist I was meant to see, I agreed to reschedule.
5 days later the issue had cleared up, therefore I didn’t need the rescehdule consultation, and clearly didn’t need surgery!
now, years later, I find out I have a debt on my name. They put baycorp on me, demanding full payment for the “consultation”.
The lady I spoke to just ignored anything I had to say, just kept saying sorry it has in the notes you were recommended surgery and that the only way they drop the debt is if you pay it, so I agreed, its not worth my time and don’t want baycorp on me.
Having read some of these other reviews, I am not the first, they appear to operate more like a scam company.
P.S. Look at their response, it’s a copy and past reply. I have already paid, they made it very clear when I called they have zero intention to discuss further.

Very bad experience with these guys, I called them to see if it was OK to check out one mole that I thought it would be a problem with it, but nurse on the phone decided to charge me a full price even when she heard that it was just a mole check up, so they charged me for a nurse visit an a doctor, when I turned up there the doctor only check on my mole for not even 15 minutes, no nurse needed me to check on me. Expensive, over priced 10 minutes visit or charging wrong. I contacted them back about it, but manager responded as it was OK the full price. Never again I’ll visit this skin institute again. No recommend at all.

I went to this clinic for keloid treatment, and it was an absolute disaster. They made me book an appointment claiming they treat keloids and offer steroid injections. But when I met the doctor, Dr. Patel , he straight-up admitted he had NEVER treated a keloid before and had no clue what to do about it. Yet, they still had the audacity to charge me $400 for this nonsense.
I get that their consultation fee is $400, but I only agreed to pay that because they claimed they treat keloids and had some kind of solution! Turns out, that was a complete lie. What kind of consultation is this? I paid $400 just to be told, “I can’t help you.” Are you serious? This feels like a blatant money-grab.
As an international student, this is devastating. Every dollar I earn is hard-earned, and they completely wasted my time and money.
This clinic is a joke. They booked me under false pretenses, didn’t offer any real help, and just took my money. If you’re looking for actual treatment or expertise, don’t even bother with this place. They clearly care more about your money than helping their patients. Absolutely disgraceful!

This is my second visit to this clinic despite living in Whangaparaoa. Last year for a long overdue full mole check. And this year for the same. I’ve had Dr Vishnunadan both times and he’s great, as were the other staff. I ended up having two troublesome skin tags removed there and then and they organised it via Southern X for me. My appointment was at 1210 and I had been seen, moles checked and two large tags shaved off and back in the car by 1240. I see this clinic doesn’t have great reviews over others so I just wanted to give credit it where it’s due. I’ll keep going back here for my annual checks or any other issues as they do a great job. Thank you guys.

I wish I could give minus stars.
So basically we got scammed at the Skin institute Takapuna. When the first time I called, they said that we can treat keloids and gave us the appointment and during our 3 min consultation Dr. PATEL said he has never cured it and we don’t do it over here.DOESNOT HAVE ANY IDEAS.
After this incident they charged us$400.00
I tried to reach the manager ( Priscilla Edgecombe) but the receptionist said that she has read your review and will get back to you, after multiple calls, she called back. She asked for 48hours for the solution and promised to call me back on Thursday and told me ( DONOT EXPECT MY CALL THE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING) NEVER RECEIVED ANY CALL AND HENCE THURSDAY FINISHED
we received a causal email now that they have taken our feedback and it will take 10 business days to reply.
Are you serious? Lies after lies
If their manager is laid back what you gonna expect.
I DONOT RECOMMEND ANYONE And we will share this experience to the community.

I had an appointment with Nadine this morning for a mole check. The appointment was booked very quickly using the online system, the reception staff were friendly and kind, my appointment was on time, and Nadine took time to explain next steps of care in a detailed and easy-to-understand manner. Definitely recommend if you need a free mole check done!
