Cornwall Park: The Chill Spot with Cows, Views & a Bit of History

Big, green, and beautiful — Cornwall Park is basically Auckland’s backyard. Whether you’re into walking, jogging, hiking, cycling, or just pretending to be fit while taking selfies, this place has you covered.

There’s an easy hike up to One Tree Hill, and at the top, you’ll find the Logan Campbell Monument (yes, it’s a monument and his grave — confirmed!). He’s basically the guy who gifted this park to the people, so a big thanks to him for giving us somewhere to hang with sheep on weekends.

Speaking of which — cows and sheep roam freely like they own the place (and honestly, they kinda do). It’s family-friendly, photogenic, and filled with massive trees that make you feel tiny in the best way.

Toilets? Yes. Parking? Plentiful — with multiple entrances. Crowds? A little heavier in the evenings, but still peaceful enough to pretend you’re in a countryside movie montage.

**”Logan was here… paying respect to Logan Campbell, no relation (I think).”

Cornwall Park is one of those places that feels like a little escape in the middle of the city. There’s plenty of space to walk, run, or just relax under the trees. The views from One Tree Hill are always worth the climb, and the mix of open fields, gardens, and grazing sheep gives it a unique charm. It’s great for families, solo strolls, or picnics on a sunny day. Easily one of Auckland’s best outdoor spots.

Absolutely love Cornwall Park! The walking trails are some of the best I’ve come across — well-maintained, scenic, and perfect for all fitness levels. The lush greenery and open spaces make it an ideal spot for a relaxing stroll, picnic, or even just soaking in nature. The views from the top are stunning, especially around sunset. It’s a peaceful escape from the hustle of the city, and there’s always something new to explore every time I visit. My girlfriend and I did the Titanic room. Really cool originality in the puzzles and great level of difficulty, everything worked great none of the puzzles were broken or hard to use.

We played the Titanic room and it was excellent. It is classed as the hardest room and it was definitely a challenge. It was fun and smart puzzles to solve. A good balance of mind puzzling and interactive. Jake was our game master and he was the perfect balance of professionalism, friendliness and very clear and thorough in his instructions and paced his clues out well when we needed them. I highly recommend it. I loved it so much, I’m immediately going back to try their behind enemy lines!

Customer Reviews
I love the concept and aesthetic of this place.

We actually went twice in the same day.

The first time, I asked for something inspired by a White Russian—nothing too specific, as I wanted to give the bartender some creative freedom. Unfortunately, I was served a classic White Russian without any special twist, which was a bit disappointing considering the price. To be fair, half of the menu wasn’t available either. It wasn’t a terrible experience, just underwhelming.

A couple of hours later, we decided to come back and this time we sat at the bar. We had the chance to speak directly with one of the bartenders, Lock , and the experience completely changed. He listened carefully to what we were looking for and absolutely nailed it—delivering not only a delicious cocktail but a truly enjoyable moment as well.

Watching him work was fun, engaging, and—honestly—a little sexy, which kind of fits the whole vibe of the place.

I’ll definitely be back!

What a fantastic place!
I love the concept, and the vibe inside was dark, brooding and prohibition-esque. A no-menus place where the server asks you questions to find out what you like and they whip something up for you.
The place was humming, with empty tables not staying empty long. The service was really great… we were apologised to twice for having to wait for someone to see us, but it wasn’t that long at all.
The 2 cocktails we had were exactly down our alley, so they know what they’re doing.
We explained to one guy as we were paying that we were doing like a low key crawl to cool spots, and he provided some suggestions, which was nice. Would definitely return. Bring some coin though, at $24 per drink it’s up there, but think of it as a show too!

No menu. Friendly and knowledgeable server has a conversation with you about what drinks you like and the mixologist whips up something that is out of this world. Atmosphere is relaxed and conducive to conversation. If you’re a fan of speakeasy’s, this place is for you.

I really wish I could like and enjoy this place but not somewhere you want to go for a few drinks or cocktails.
The place looks great and great concept and love the drinks. Just doesn’t work. The serving is very slow and what seems like hard work. You can’t even order 2 drinks at a time maybe as that will make them even slower. Great table service just as they do not have a menu they ask you what you like and conk a drink to your taste. It may be a better idea to have menus to speed drinks up. Not sure 30 mins is acceptable anywhere waiting for a drink and only one at a time.
Was well worth a visit but only for one drink as not sure you will enjoy the wait. Maybe it’s the New Zealand way of things.

We recently visited this Hidden Bar and had an amazing experience! The atmosphere was lively, and the vibe was just perfect for a fun night out. What made it truly special was the absence of a menu — the bartenders crafted superb drinks based on our preferences and mood. Each one was a delightful surprise!

The staff were incredibly skilled and experienced, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. The live music added a wonderful touch, creating a vibrant and enjoyable ambiance throughout the night.

If they start offering some deals or specials, it would make the place even more exciting. But overall, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a unique and memorable evening.

It is often a challenging venue for music concerts. Tonight’s Toto concert was let down by the Front-of-House Sound Engineer’s inability to work with the venue’s terrible acoustics. Bring earplugs as they try to counter poor sound quality with volume, drowning out the audio. Cross was slightly better, but his vocals were also low; at least the volume was not blasted. The venue itself is great for basketball, and the staff were good, but when the concert sound is bad, why bother?

I had a great experience at Spark Arena! The venue is spacious, modern, and very clean. The staff were incredibly helpful, especially in assisting my daughter with special needs, which made our visit stress-free.

Just a tip: arrive early for events, as parking can be difficult and costly. Consider getting dropped off, using public transport, or walking if possible. Overall, a fantastic venue worth visiting!

Wow – what an incredible day out. Jackie was a legend. From booking us to all our nagging questions. We took a team of 16 out on the MV Koru with Craig, Mike and Lucas. Seriously you guys were absolute legends. You made the experience one to remember. Everyone on board caught fish (massive bonus). We all learnt some tips and tricks. The crew were exceptional. We will definitely be back on board as soon as we can. Thanks so much Ultimate Charters, from the team at Glenbuild.

This was our second fishing trip with Ultimate Fishing Charters, and once again, they absolutely nailed it. Right from the start, Jackie made booking a breeze—friendly, organised, and had everything sorted before we even stepped on the boat.

Craig and his crew—Johnny, Kobe, and Luke—were legends. Super friendly, knew their stuff, and always ready to help out with anything we needed.

The whole day was easygoing, fun, and just what we were after. They even threw on some seriously good burgers—they reckon it’s the best burger you’ll ever eat, and honestly, they might be right. And the best part? We came back with a massive haul—plenty of fish to feed all our families.

If you’re thinking about booking a fishing charter, don’t look past these guys. Great crew, great vibes, and an all-round top day on the water.

Thanks on behalf of the Trueline Construction Crew

Awesome family trip with Craig and Mitch from Ultimate Charters . They were great, from cooking our barbecue, providing neat little fishing tips and finding a good spot to drop the anchor and get heaps of bites. Also..when you dont bring enough bait to last long , they have backup ready and invoiced after the trip which was very much appreciated. 5-star service! Highly recommend Ultimate Charters for a family day out and birthday gift. We all had the best time, especially my dad whose birthday gift it was, and can’t wait to do it again. A+

The course looks very natural. Greens are in great condition. The wind is probably the biggest challenge. A few holes have great ocean view.

Such a great vibe at this club. I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery as the views are quite stunning. I’m not a proficient golfer by any means but there were plenty of members/staff that was very helpful. The golf club itself is a saviour for the local community, so when local shops are shut down for public holidays, the golf club is open for locals to come in and buy drinks. The fairways are just in sublime condition and the greens are well kept. The venue itself has motivated me to continue learning to play golf.

I grew up playing this course as a youngster but have not played here for a long time.

Finally made it out and it bought back so many memories. What a beautiful Link’s course. Still deceptively tough, great to get back to where it all started for me.

Thanks to the staff out there.

First time playing this course. Received warm welcome even just turning up to play and joined up with local member for a round (thanks Peter).
Fantastic layout amongst the sand dunes making a stern challenge, especially with a sea breeze, though it wasn’t too had according to my host!
Although greens looked patchy they were in good condition and were quick and true.
Clubhouse is highest point and adds to perfect end of a game.

Played in driving wind and 40km/h winds, absolutely amazing. Started the day with a nice big fry up from the restaurant, played 9 holes and came in for a coffee and to warm up. Back out, and the sun came out. Fairways were awesome, greens were true and fast. Definitely deserves its place in the top 20 in NZ.

We had a ladies night and thoroughly enjoyed it! We booked well in advance, the venue is small and I imagine gets booked out really quickly. Be prepared to book a few months in advance. The show was very well organised!! There wasn’t a moment where we were ‘waiting’. The performers had amazing costume changes, awesome dance routines and there was an opportunity for photos. The food was good! There was chicken, lamb and veg options and everyone enjoyed their meal – lamb fell off the bone!! But just remember you’re not going for the food, so don’t expect a master chef meal. We arrived at 7pm and walked out at about 11.30pm so it’s a full evening event.
We paid $20 per person deposit, then $99 each a couple weeks before. This cost included the show and food, you have to pay for drinks at the end of the evening. You need a credit card to open a tab for the table. Downside: The tables were very squashy, we had 5 people on one side of the table that should’ve been 4 people, but we made it work.

Overall, we had a fantastic evening!! I would definitely go again!!

Booked a hens night and what an experience! Full house, lots of laughs, delicious food and the best entertainment!! The atmosphere was amazing. There were many different groups, but these ladies made us all come together and cheer for one another like we were one big family! Don’t hesitate to book, I can promise you, they do not disappoint. Thankyou so much for having us, we will be back for more!
