I did not require a call out, but i called this morning to see if Locksmart could help and the gentleman i spoke to was still very helpful. He could have easily just sent someone out and took my money knowing that it was unlikely an immobilizer issue. Instead, he was honest and gave an alternate option to which I’ll use as a starting point and go from there. Honesty goes a long way! Thank you!

The locksmith near my house is closed until 13 Jan, so I had to make a bit of an effort to drive to Henderson, and I’m so glad I did.

The gent helping me not only has a magnificent beard, but was also very friendly and knowledgeable. He tested the existing key and confirmed that my car key didn’t have a chip in it, and was able to quickly cut a just a blade key for me, which was what I wanted.

My car was at home, because it has a flat battery, so I was there in a different car. I tested it when I got home and it fits the lock fine and turns fine. It fitted like a hand in a glove.

I was given a strong key as replacement and couldn’t be bothered about the logo or whatever was written on it. The aim is to have something sturdy, that works, and will for years to come.

The place is very clean, with some lovely plants all over and comfy chairs. Not like a typical grimy key cut place. It was a pleasure to sit and wait the 5 or 10 minutes it took to cut the key and chat with the owner.

I highly recommend LSL. Friendly, quick, efficient, affordable.

I took my Honda Fit in for a door lock issue, and I was blown away by the service. They sorted everything out and issued a brand new remote in just 5 minutes! Incredibly fast, professional, and hassle-free experience. Highly recommend them if you ever need a locksmith—these guys are awesome!

I emailed them for a quote with pictures requesting replacement of front door lock and and cutting/opening of a storage locker as well as installing a replacement lock.

I received a quote $173 inc gst for job + $9 per key. Trademan came on-site and was only able to do half the job. He was able to change the front door and rekey but was not interested in doing anything for the storage lock as he said the key lock had been glued. When I requested him what could be done he said the lock can be drilled but it would take time and he was not sure what needs to be done. He proceeded to change the front door lock, when i asked him about billings and cost said the sooner i do it the better the cost, after doing it (5 minutes later) he advised billings of $150. When questioned, he did not seem interested so I called the manager Brett re quote and advised the billings were unfair and unprofessional given only half the job was done and the tradesman did not even attempt to open the storage locker.

Brett asked me to put his trademan on the phone, next thing I knew, his tradesman Brendon took the keys of the new lock and walked away from my home, I called out to him so we could have a chat a figure out things but he just left and continued walking. I called Bret, I explained to him that this is very unprofessional as he has left me with a new lock with no keys but he did not want to reach any settlement about the issue and advised I hire someone else.

I realised my key from my old lock which I had placed on my table was missing, my suspicion is that Brendon sneaked this away with him while I was talking to Brett. Brendon had already taken my old lock to his van saying he needed it to get the new lock. He just walked away without returning my old lock or key and leaving me with a new lock with no keys.

The situation for me is that I have a new lock no keys, the key is with Brendon a stranger to me who can access my home anytime he wants. I have reported this activity to the Police as I felt unsafe in my own home. They advised that I change my locks as quickly as possible, were empathetic and also advised I seek help from Consumers Affairs. Unfortunately without much evidence of Brendon taking my lock , it would his word against mine. Luckily I was able to find a locksmith at short notice given it is just before Easter weekend and feel safe.

I am sharing this as it is a very unpleasant and unexpected experience, it cost me in additional billings for another locksmith and also my time and peace of mind for the day. I had done my due diligence and had 2 other quotes as well but choose this company as they were available sooner than others. Please think twice before booking a job if you don’t want to be a tough situation like me especially as you may be providing access to your homes.

I had to replace my holden key and found it very difficult to find someone who could help. This guy was recommended to me and he was great. Apart from the price being half what the other couple of places I made contact with were going to charge, he was able to help me straight away. Very friendly, extremely helpful, I thoroughly recommend him to anyone who needs a key cut, no matter how difficult.

Brett at Locksmiths Services Ltd was amazing, I had an old door handle with a broken part and a missing machine screw that he sorted in the best fashion – on the spot with friendly banter while he worked. I also had a house key cut at a great cost, on the spot again. I’m so glad that I found this place, old fashioned honest good work.

My daughter locked the key to her room, in the room. We initially rang another company who weren’t able to come out, but recommended Keytronics NZ. We weren’t disappointed. The wait (during peak hour traffic) was understandable. The locksmith who did the job was friendly, professional & amazingly (to my untrained eyes) was able to gain access, without any damage at all. AAA+++ 100% recommend.

Called them up to replace a lost key fob. Showed up at the time promised, and communication was great until someone showed up – but that was about it. The guy went to work, didn’t give me any options and set me up with an aftermarket non-OEM key. For $800. Which apparently is the going rate because they had to gain access to the car’s circuit boards.

That would have been fine had the key been fully functional but the tech couldn’t program most of the key’s functions. Charged me with the promise of replacing it with a OEM key and a key blade and that’s when it all went downhill. The job got handed over to another tech, who also couldn’t get me fully functioning key. All this happened over 7 months ago, and no one has answered my calls in over a month.

In summary, down $800+, don’t have a functioning key, no key blade, completely ghosted, waited over 7 months. 0 stars if that was an option.

Maybe it was a hard job given it was a Japanese import, but don’t take my money and promise services that you then don’t provide or communicate.

Happy to upgrade the rating, if this post helps get my key fixed.

Fantastic service from Keytronics, can’t recommend them enough. The key for my Nissan was done in less than 15 minutes on site no hassle at all. If you need keys, these are your guys!

Called for a quote. Then got sent a text with a quote that was double what was verbally indicated. Tried texting, phoning, leaving messages but never got a message or call. Could do better.

Initially ok service, (2.5hr wait) however the follow up to sync my key to my car to get rid of alarm light ruined it.

I was contacted within 5 mins of follow up with the promise of an appointment time, but never got it. The next day after contact, I was ghosted.

No longer has a physical store – mobile call out fee is $140 minimum, not convenient for easier jobs like key battery replacement etc.

Pricey, you’re better off purchasing the same tool they used from trademe which costs under $20. To unlock a bedroom door cost me $185+ and after hours over $200 for a 2 minute job. Response time is quick and provided a fast & friendly service, was out the door within minutes.

Quick as service getting our ute’s canopy locks changed, very fair pricing and an appreciated explanation of the issue at hand.

From technology to service, I am completely astonished.

Purchased a Ute for which the previous owner had lost the keys for the tray. Armstrong’s we’re happy to help, dropped the car off and 3hrs later we now have a lockable rear tray. Excellent service. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for top notch service and service delivery.

Second time of have used Armstrongs. Both occasions the service was lacking. This job involved dropping a lock off with 24hrs to come back to me as the lock needed to be refitted. Left my number etc and was told no problem. No response in 3 days. Phoned them on the 4th day. Was told the boss was working on it and would call me back at lunchtime. Nothing. 3 days later I went to see them. The lock was under the front counter and I was told it was a bit different and they could do nothing for me. Took the lock 10 minutes up the road to City Locksmith Newmarket. $64 and 45 minutes later and the lock was fixed. Armstrongs big on talk, low on delivery. My experience twice now. So I am very unlikely to recommend the. Thanks City Locksmiths you rock.

Oh, Hardware Direct, you absolute legends of locksmithing in Auckland…

where do I even start with this masterclass in mediocrity? A few months back, I naively asked if they could unlock my dial safe. Their brilliant solution? Drill it to smithereens!
Because who needs a functioning safe when you can just buy a new one, right? I pointed out that a new combination or dial would’ve been, y’know, useful, but they swooped in with a dazzling offer: a $200 discount on a safe from their shop! Forgot to mention the tiny $200 delivery fee until I blinked, of course. Pure genius.

Fast forward to today, I needed a lock changed on a door, specifically asking for a step-down key; you know, one that opens just that lock, not the whole kingdom, unlike the master key that rules them all. The technician, bless his polite little heart, nailed the new lock. Works like a dream!
Except for one teensy, insignificant detail: the master key I handed him,literally in his hand,is now about as useful as a paperweight. Total step-down city.
When I dared question this stroke of brilliance, they spun it back on me, claiming I’d begged for a step-down to match another door. Newsflash: I did lol.
But no worries, they generously offered to “try again” while the clock kept ticking. Ka-ching! Money’s money, eh?

I’ve since ripped the whole mess apart and haiiling it to the pros who handled our padlocks, trailer locks, and doors without turning it into a circus. Stay tuned for their glowing review.

I got my key broken today and came here. The guy told me that as the key is damaged heavily they cannot guarantee the new key to be worked. They did it fast but gave me a wrong type of key. (I didn’t know to check the key number to match) The new key didn’t even go into the key hole. Then i went to the St. Lukes mall key smith and they cut a new one and it worked nicely.

Great service, I needed a specialty key cut, and Hardware Direct only had a limited number of blanks in stock.

Because I live quite a distance out of Auckland, I requested if they could put a blank aside for me, as I would be coming down to Auckland the next week.

The specialty key was cut and I am extremely happy with the service from this company.

Good, fast, professional. Needed both of our office doors deadbolt locks rekeyed due to a supplier of mine having their keys stolen including an office key of ours where they had (as we discovered!) a tag with our office address and alarm code attached. Within an hour they were onsite, completed the job and left us feeling a lot more secure.

This was my first time to request service from Pioneer Locksmith, recommended by a local locksmith in Browns Bay. I needed a spared Toyota car key with remote function. OMGoodness Edwin is amazing. Our front door lock to our apartment stopped working so our Landlord said her locksmith will be in touch. It did take 2 days but hey it’s Xmas and business people are busy. Edwin got in touch and said he would be here 12.50 but he arrived 12.20. Have had 4 keys cut from here, two for an old truck and two for an even older motorcycle, and these guys did it really quick and the price is quite reasonable.
Even had considerate advisement with the tricky motorcycle key to only have one key made first and to go test it before I had a second one made- to make sure it works.

We needed the lock on the front door changed after a flatmate moved out. I mentioned that the door wasn’t closing well, but did not ask for it to be fixed. We were pretty shocked to see that the wall has been cut into and damaged to adjust the lock, without our consent. I would have thought the staff member would tell me what was involved and how much it would cost if he was intending to fix it.

It has been nearly four months and Armstrong Avondale have not responded to any of my emails with any solutions or to explain the charges, as I have requested. The lock was changed, but I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication, and the damage done to the door.

UPDATE: Armstrong called to arrange for this to be fixed, and after many attempts to call back and arrange a time, it was fixed. Armstrong was very apologetic and said that the staff member should have communicated before doing other work.

Arrived within an hour (there was a cancellation) to fix our patio lock and replace our deadbolts. Fixed quickly and professionally. Reasonable cost. Happy to use again.

Came in recently to ask whether I could get a spare key for the the window lock at home for which I lost the key. Carl knew exactly which key I was after he even knew the key number . Carl tried to locate a key in the store but was unable to find one. He took down my number and I got a call from him later that day to say he was able to track one down. Carl got me 2 spare keys in the end. Carl’s customer service and focus is flawless .
